If you are checking for the MW4 Season One launch update on October 30, 2026, it is not due yet. Activision has announced the season for November 6, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (November 5 at 9:00 p.m. Pacific), so an update that has not appeared can be normal. - Confirm the title and launcher. Activision lists separate installation routes for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, Steam, Battle.net and the Xbox app on PC. On Steam, the library entry is named Call of Duty, not necessarily a standalone MW4 tile.
- Check whether the item is actually queued. Look in the platform’s Downloads, Updates or install queue. A missing item is different from a stalled item.

How do I fix a stuck MW4 download on PS5?
Use the least destructive controls first. PlayStation’s documented sequence starts with the download queue, then moves to service, network, storage and Safe Mode checks.
1. Pause and resume the queue item
- Press the PS button to open Control Center.
- Select Downloads/Uploads.
- Highlight the MW4 download and choose Pause, then choose Resume.
If progress moves, leave the queue running and avoid starting several large downloads at once.
2. Cancel and restart only if pause/resume fails
For a download that will not start, PlayStation’s guidance is to select the item, choose Cancel and Delete, then start the game again from Game Library. This removes the queued download, not your saved game, but confirm that you are acting on the download entry rather than saved-data settings.

5. If storage is the limiting factor
PlayStation supports a commercially available, PS5-compatible M.2 SSD that meets its current requirements. Verify the exact specification before buying, and first remove or move existing games. A USB extended drive is not equivalent for playing a PS5 game: PlayStation says PS5 game data stored there must be moved back to internal or compatible M.2 storage before it can be played.
How do I reinstall or repair MW4 on Xbox Series X|S?
On Xbox consoles, confirm that the base game and system software are installed before trying cache recovery.
Install the game from the full library
- Open My games & apps.
- Select See all → Full library → All owned games.
- Choose MW4 and select Install all.
This Activision path addresses a missing base-game installation; it does not prove that a future Season One package is available before its release time.
Finish console updates
Open Settings → System → Updates. Let any console update finish, restart if requested, and then check the MW4 queue again. Activision’s installation guidance recommends installing available console updates before beginning a game installation.
Use the power-off cache procedure later

Verify existing files
Choose Steam’s option to verify the integrity of the installed game files. Activision’s older support wording refers to a Local Files section; Steam’s current client may label the same area differently, so use the present-day equivalent rather than assuming that exact label is unchanged. Verification can reacquire damaged files and may take time without showing ordinary download progress.
Do not cancel verification because the percentage appears still. Wait for Steam to report completion, then restart the client and check the MW4 update queue.
How do I fix MW4 in Battle.net?
For a new installation, Activision directs Battle.net users to select MW4 from All Games and choose Install. For a stalled existing installation, start with the launcher and connection checks before removing cache folders.

Before removing anything, close Battle.net completely, record the current installation location and make sure you can sign back into the account. Cache cleanup does not confirm a Season One outage and should not be the first step for an update that has not yet been released.
Why is MW4 missing or broken in the Xbox app on PC?

If the documented steps fail, provide reproducible details instead of reporting only that the update is “stuck.” PlayStation specifically asks for error messages, reproduction details, a timestamp and, when possible, an image.
