The simplest way to move iCloud contacts to a Samsung Galaxy is Samsung Smart Switch’s built-in iCloud import. On the Galaxy, open Smart Switch, choose Receive data, select iPhone/iPad, and tap Get data from iCloud. Sign in with your Apple Account, approve the verification request on the iPhone, enter the code on the Galaxy, select Contacts, and start the transfer. You do not need to export a file or buy a cable for this route.
If the direct import is unavailable, export your contacts from iCloud.com as a vCard on a computer or tablet, then use the current import option in the Contacts app on your Galaxy. A wired iPhone-to-Galaxy transfer is another alternative when the two phones have compatible data ports and you already have the right cable.

What should you do before moving iCloud contacts?
Prepare account access, both devices, and a way to check the result. Smart Switch menus and the categories it offers can vary with Galaxy software, so the labels on your phone are the authority.
- Have the Apple Account email address and password used for iCloud Contacts available.
- Keep access to the trusted iPhone or another trusted Apple device so you can approve the sign-in request and retrieve the verification code.
- Charge the Galaxy and iPhone, or connect them to power during the transfer.
- Connect the Galaxy to a reliable Wi-Fi network for the iCloud sign-in and download.
- Update each phone enough to open its current migration tools, while recognizing that Samsung may show different menu names on different Galaxy software versions.
- Decide whether you want only contacts or other categories that Smart Switch offers from iCloud.
Do not erase the iPhone or turn off iCloud Contacts before checking the imported entries on the Galaxy. Keeping the original account intact gives you a reference if a field needs correction.

How do you transfer iCloud contacts to Samsung with Smart Switch?
Use Smart Switch on the Galaxy and choose its iCloud source. This is Samsung’s direct cloud workflow and avoids creating a vCard first.
- Open Smart Switch on the Galaxy. Open Settings and search for “Smart Switch,” or open the app from the Samsung folder if it is already installed.
- Start receiving data. Tap Receive data.
- Choose the former phone type. Select iPhone/iPad.
- Select the cloud route. Tap Get data from iCloud. If your phone presents slightly different wording, choose the option that identifies iCloud as the source.
- Sign in to Apple. Enter the Apple Account credentials that contain your iCloud contacts.
- Approve verification. Apple sends a verification request to the trusted iPhone or another trusted device. Approve it, then enter the verification code on the Galaxy when Smart Switch asks for it.
- Choose what to copy. Select Contacts. Smart Switch may display additional categories available from iCloud; select only the items you want.
- Start the transfer. Confirm the selection and let Smart Switch complete the import. Keep the Galaxy connected to Wi-Fi and avoid closing the app while it is working.
- Review the result. Open Contacts on the Galaxy and inspect several important entries, including entries with photos, phone numbers, email addresses, notes, and more than one number.
Samsung lists contacts among the data transferable from iCloud and its current iPhone-to-Galaxy instructions include contact photos. That does not promise that every custom field, contact list, label, or duplicate state will look identical after import, so review important records rather than assuming a perfect one-for-one layout.

Can Smart Switch transfer contact photos and every contact field?
It can transfer contacts and Samsung’s current guide specifically includes contact photos, but the documented process does not guarantee identical handling for every field or duplicate.
What is explicitly supported
Contacts are a supported iCloud category in Samsung’s iPhone-to-Galaxy migration instructions. Contact photos are included in Samsung’s description of the supported contact data.
What may need checking
After the import, inspect records that contain custom labels, several phone numbers, long notes, birthdays, company information, or linked entries. The available categories and the way they are displayed can vary by Galaxy software. If an important detail is absent, compare the Galaxy entry with the original iPhone record before deleting anything.
How duplicates should be handled
Do not assume Smart Switch will reproduce your existing duplicate state exactly. If the Galaxy shows two versions of a person, use the Contacts app’s own merge or link controls only after confirming which record contains the complete information. Preserve a separate export until the review is finished.

What if the iCloud option is missing in Smart Switch?
A missing option usually means the current Smart Switch version, Galaxy software, account state, or network path is presenting a different set of choices. Work through the following checks before switching methods.
- Search again from Settings. Open Settings, search for Smart Switch, and launch the installed Samsung utility rather than an unrelated transfer screen.
- Look for the receiving workflow. The iCloud import appears under Receive data, then iPhone/iPad. Starting from a send or Android-to-Android workflow can hide it.
- Check connectivity. Reconnect to Wi-Fi and retry the sign-in. A cloud import cannot proceed reliably while the phone is offline.
- Confirm Apple verification. Make sure the trusted iPhone can receive the approval request or code. Without Apple Account verification, Smart Switch cannot complete the iCloud sign-in.
- Read the current screen carefully. Samsung changes labels and supported categories by Galaxy software version. Follow the option shown on your particular phone instead of relying on an older screenshot.
- Use the file-based fallback. If the Galaxy still does not offer iCloud import, export a vCard from iCloud.com and investigate the installed Contacts app’s current import command.
Samsung describes Smart Switch as a tool for transferring content from previous devices to Galaxy phones and tablets. The exact items offered remain software-dependent, so an absent category is not proof that your account is damaged.
How do you export iCloud contacts as a vCard?
Export a vCard from iCloud.com when you want a portable backup or when direct Smart Switch import is not available. Apple’s Contacts web app requires a tablet or computer for this procedure.
- Open iCloud Contacts. On a computer or tablet, sign in at iCloud.com/contacts with the Apple Account that stores the contacts.
- Select the records. Select one contact, hold Command on a Mac or Control on Windows to select several, or choose Select All Contacts for a complete export.
- Open the sharing menu. Choose Share, then select Export vCard.
- Save the file. Keep the resulting .vcf file in a safe location. When multiple contacts are selected, iCloud exports them in one vCard file.
- Move the file to the Galaxy. Use a secure cloud drive, USB connection, email to yourself, or another transfer method you trust. Avoid public computers for an address book containing private information.
- Import it on the Galaxy. Open the Contacts app and look for its current Import, Import contacts, or similar command, then select the .vcf file and the destination account or storage location offered by your phone.
Apple documents vCard export and also recommends exporting all contacts as one vCard for backup. The Apple and Samsung procedures do not specify one universal Galaxy Contacts menu for importing a local .vcf file; Samsung’s interface differs by model and software. Do not follow an old menu path if it is not present. Search the installed Contacts app for its current import function, or use Smart Switch’s supported iCloud route instead.
Can you transfer contacts with a cable instead?
Yes. Samsung documents a wired iPhone-to-Galaxy transfer that includes contacts. Cable compatibility depends on the physical ports on both phones, not simply on their brand.
When a cable is practical
A USB-C-to-Lightning data cable is a possible connection when the iPhone has a Lightning port and the Galaxy has USB-C. Confirm that the cable supports data, that both devices accept the connection, and that it is long enough to keep both screens accessible. If the iPhone uses USB-C, choose a cable and adapter arrangement that matches USB-C on both devices.

- Connect the iPhone and Galaxy with a compatible data cable.
- Open Smart Switch on the Galaxy and choose Receive data, then iPhone/iPad.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to trust or allow the connection on the iPhone.
- Select Contacts and any other categories the wired workflow offers.
- Start the transfer and review the imported entries when it finishes.
The wired route does not require an iCloud export and can be useful when cloud sign-in is unavailable. It does require the correct cable and a physical connection, while the iCloud route needs Apple Account access and verification but no cable.
Which iCloud-to-Samsung method should you choose?
Choose based on account access, whether you want a backup file, and whether a compatible cable is already available. Samsung and Apple’s procedural pages do not provide comparable transfer-speed or success-rate measurements, so those figures should not drive the decision.

For most switches, start with Smart Switch’s iCloud option. Export a vCard first if you want an independent backup, and use the wired route when the phones and cable are ready for a direct connection.
How do you verify contacts after the transfer?
Verification catches incomplete records before you rely on the Galaxy as your only copy. Check a representative sample rather than only the total number shown.
- Open several personal, work, and emergency contacts.
- Check contacts with photos, multiple phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, notes, and custom labels.
- Search for a few names you know were near the beginning, middle, and end of the iCloud list.
- Look for an obvious duplicate created by a second account or a repeated import.
- Confirm that the Galaxy’s Contacts app is displaying the account or storage location where Smart Switch placed the records.
- Call or message only after confirming that the selected number is the correct one; a contact can contain several numbers.
Keep the original iPhone and any exported vCard untouched until these checks are complete. If one important entry is wrong, compare it with the source record and correct that entry individually rather than repeating the entire migration immediately.
How do you protect your Apple Account and contact data?
The iCloud workflow handles an address book, which can contain private phone numbers, addresses, birthdays, and business information. Use the official Smart Switch and iCloud sign-in screens, and avoid entering Apple Account credentials into an unverified transfer app.

- Approve the verification request only when you initiated the sign-in on your Galaxy.
- Never give a verification code to another person or type it into a website reached from an unexpected message.
- Use a private Wi-Fi network when downloading the contact data.
- Delete temporary copies of the vCard from shared computers, public downloads folders, and unprotected messaging threads after you confirm the Galaxy import.
- Do not erase the iPhone’s contacts until the Galaxy review is complete and you have decided where the ongoing master copy should live.
What are the most common transfer problems?
Most failures fall into a small number of categories: authentication, connectivity, selection, or compatibility.
The verification code never arrives
Check the trusted iPhone or other trusted Apple device for the approval prompt, and confirm that you entered the code shown there on the Galaxy. If you cannot access a trusted device, resolve Apple Account verification first; Smart Switch cannot bypass it.
Contacts are not listed after import
Open the Contacts app’s account or display filters and make sure the destination account is included. Also confirm that you selected Contacts on Smart Switch rather than only another category.
The import appears incomplete
Compare several original records with the Galaxy, focusing on custom fields, linked contacts, and duplicates. The supported categories can vary by Galaxy software, and the documented workflow does not promise identical reproduction of every field.

Check both phone ports, use a data-capable cable, unlock the iPhone, and accept any trust prompt. A Lightning-to-USB-C cable is relevant only when the actual ports match that arrangement; it is unnecessary for the iCloud route.
The vCard will not open
Confirm that the file ends in .vcf and was downloaded completely. Then use the Contacts app’s current import function; if the app does not offer local-file import, return to Smart Switch’s iCloud workflow rather than guessing at an unsupported menu.

Does transferring contacts remove them from iCloud?
No deletion is part of the documented Smart Switch import, vCard export, or wired-transfer steps. Treat the operation as a copy, and keep the iCloud source until you have verified the Galaxy entries and chosen your future account arrangement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to keep the iPhone next to the Galaxy during an iCloud import?
The iPhone is needed to approve Apple’s sign-in request or provide the verification code, but the documented cloud workflow does not require a physical cable between the phones. Keep the trusted device available until authentication is complete.
Can I export only a few iCloud contacts instead of my whole address book?
Yes. In iCloud.com Contacts, select one contact or use Command on Mac or Control on Windows to select a group, then choose Share and Export vCard. Select All Contacts creates one file containing the entire address book.
Will a second Smart Switch import create duplicates?
The documented instructions do not promise duplicate prevention. Before repeating an import, compare the Galaxy list with the source and check whether the Contacts app is showing more than one account; preserve a backup so you can undo a mistaken merge.
Can I keep using iCloud Contacts after moving to Galaxy?
The transfer procedures copy data but do not define your future synchronization setup. Decide whether the Galaxy’s contacts should remain associated with an account you use on Android, and verify that account’s own sync settings separately before deleting the iCloud source.
