Meta Muse and Alibaba’s Qwen are both moving AI beyond chat, but the “400 features” framing is not a verified way to decide between them. Meta’s September 8, 2026 announcement describes Muse as a personal agent that can use a browser and connected apps, complete multistep work, continue some tasks in the background, and request approval for sensitive actions. Alibaba’s 2026 announcements describe Qwen App integrations with Chinese commerce, payment, travel and local-service platforms, plus a Taobao shopping connection. Those are company-announced capabilities, not results from an independent head-to-head test.
The practical comparison is narrower and more useful: which services an agent can reach, what it can execute, when it asks you to approve an action, where it is available, and how much evidence exists beyond marketing descriptions.

“Meta Muse vs China’s AI agents” is not a complete ranking of every assistant developed in China. The available evidence supports a focused comparison between Meta Muse and Alibaba’s announced Qwen agent features. Other Chinese products may differ, but they cannot be scored responsibly without comparable documentation.
An AI agent is best understood as software that can pursue an outcome through several actions rather than returning one answer to one prompt. For example, an agent might search for options, fill a form, call a service, or prepare a transaction. The boundaries depend on connected accounts, permissions, geography, and the product’s current rollout state.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That makes a feature total a poor substitute for a capability map. “Calendar access,” “shopping,” or “browser use” can represent anything from a narrow demonstration to a dependable workflow. A meaningful comparison records the exact task, the services involved, the approval step, and whether the feature is generally available or still being tested.
What can Meta Muse actually do?
Meta introduced Muse on September 8, 2026, as a personal AI agent. Meta says Muse can operate through the Muse app or WhatsApp, open a browser, fill out forms, use connected applications, pursue multistep tasks and longer-term goals, and continue some work in the background. These are Meta’s descriptions of the product, not independently measured performance.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Browser-based and multistep work
Muse is described as running inside a dedicated virtual machine with a browser. That model allows it to interact with websites in a way a conventional chat window cannot: it can navigate pages, enter information and move through a sequence of steps. A task that requires several sites or a delay between actions can therefore be delegated rather than manually supervised at every click.
Browser access does not mean unlimited web control. A site may block automation, present a CAPTCHA, require a login that Muse cannot access, or change its interface. The announcement establishes the intended mechanism, not a guarantee that every website or workflow will succeed.
Connected apps and background work
Meta says Muse can work with connected apps and keep pursuing certain tasks after the initial instruction. This is the important difference from a one-shot answer: the agent can retain a goal, perform intermediate actions and return with a result or a request for input.
Longer-running work also creates more opportunities for failure. A price can change, an appointment can disappear, or an app can revoke access while the task is in progress. Users should treat a background task as delegated work that still needs a final check, not as an unconditional promise of completion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPermissions, approvals and an audit trail
Meta describes configurable connection permissions, an audit trail and approval prompts for sensitive actions such as sending email or making a purchase. Those controls are intended to let a user decide which accounts Muse can reach and which consequential steps require confirmation.
The controls are design claims from Meta. They do not independently prove that the virtual machine is secure, that every risky action will be intercepted, or that an approval prompt will always appear at the moment a user expects. Before connecting an account, inspect the permission scope and review the recorded activity after a task.
Training-data choice
Meta says users can opt out of interactions being used to train Meta’s AI models. The statement describes an available product choice as announced by Meta; it is not a general finding about how all data is handled. Read the current settings and privacy terms in your region before sharing sensitive material.

How is an AI agent different from a chatbot?
A chatbot normally responds to an individual prompt with text, code or another generated output. Meta’s product FAQ characterizes an agent as software that can act across the web and connected apps, complete a chain of steps and continue work in the background. That is a functional distinction rather than a universal industry taxonomy.
The difference matters when evaluating risk. A wrong chatbot answer may waste a few minutes; an agent that misunderstands a request could send a message, alter a booking or place an order. Agent evaluation therefore has to include authorization boundaries, reversibility and visible logs, not just the quality of generated prose.
What are Alibaba Qwen’s announced agent capabilities?
Alibaba’s January 15, 2026 announcement described Qwen App agentic capabilities entering public testing in China. It named integrations with Taobao, Taobao Instant Commerce, Alipay, Fliggy and Amap, and gave examples including food ordering, in-chat payment, travel planning and booking, restaurant calls and other multistep tasks.
Qwen App public testing in China
In this announcement, “public testing” means the capability was being opened for testing in China; it should not be read as a worldwide, fully mature release. The named services give Qwen a locally concentrated operating environment: commerce, payments, travel and maps are connected within one national market.
Ordering food or paying inside a conversation demonstrates a path from intent to transaction. It also raises the same questions that apply to Muse: what account is charged, what confirmation is shown, how a failed order is handled and whether the user can reverse the action.
Task Assistant’s invite-only beta
Alibaba separately described a “Task Assistant” in invite-only beta at the time of the January announcement. Examples included calling restaurants, planning trips with multiple stops, processing documents and building lightweight web applications.
Invite-only beta status is materially different from public testing. Access is restricted, behavior can change quickly and the company may still be collecting feedback. These examples show the intended scope, but they are not evidence that every user can request those tasks or that completion rates match a production service.
Qwen-Taobao shopping integration
On May 11, 2026, Alibaba announced that Qwen was connected to Taobao’s catalog. The described workflow covers conversational product browsing, comparison, ordering and delivery management in China.
This is a concrete example of an ecosystem integration: the agent can draw on a large catalog and then hand the transaction to an affiliated commerce service. It does not establish that Qwen is better at unrelated tasks, nor does it represent every Chinese AI agent.

How do Muse and Qwen differ in task execution and ecosystem reach?
Muse is presented as a general personal agent that can operate a browser and connected apps. Qwen’s announced scope is more explicitly tied to Alibaba and Chinese local-service ecosystems. Neither description supplies an independent measure of reliability, speed or success rate.
| Comparison point | Meta Muse | Alibaba Qwen announcements |
|---|---|---|
| Core execution model | Dedicated virtual machine with a browser; multistep and some background work, according to Meta | Agentic workflows inside Qwen App, with named commerce, payment, travel and local-service integrations |
| Examples announced | Opening a browser, filling forms, using connected apps, pursuing longer-term goals | Food ordering, in-chat payment, travel planning and booking, restaurant calls, document processing and lightweight web-app creation |
| Commerce scope | Meta describes purchase approvals but does not document a specific retail catalog in the cited announcement | Taobao catalog browsing, comparison, ordering and delivery management announced for China |
| User controls | Configurable permissions, audit trail and approval prompts for actions such as email or purchases, according to Meta | The cited Alibaba announcements describe capabilities but do not specify an equivalent approval and audit model |
| Availability described | U.S. rollout on iOS, Android and muse.ai; rollout and pricing can change | Qwen App public testing in China; Task Assistant invite-only beta; Taobao connection announced for China |
| Evidence type | Meta product and launch announcements | Alibaba product announcements |
| Independent head-to-head test | Not established by the cited material | |
The table shows why a simple winner is misleading. A person who mainly needs browser-based help across varied accounts may value Muse’s stated operating model and permission controls. Someone whose daily life is already organized around Chinese commerce, payments, maps and travel services may find Qwen’s local integrations more immediately relevant.
Is the “400 features” claim verified?
No. The cited Meta and Alibaba announcements do not publish a verified count of 400 features, and they do not define what would be counted as a feature. Without a product boundary, date, geography and counting method, the number cannot support a comparison.
A single integration can contain dozens of possible actions, while a broad label such as “travel” might hide booking, changes, cancellations and customer support. Counting each as a feature would produce a very different total from counting only top-level services. The announcements provide examples of actions, not an independently audited inventory.
When you see a feature number, ask four questions:
- Which product versions and regions are included?
- Are integrations, individual actions or interface options being counted?
- Were beta and planned functions included?
- Who tested the functions, on what date and with what success criteria?
Until those questions have documented answers, treat “400” as an unverified marketing or editorial claim rather than a specification.
Can Meta Muse make purchases or send messages without asking?
Meta says Muse can request approval for sensitive actions such as purchases and sending email. That indicates an approval-based design for at least some consequential operations, but the announcement does not define every action that requires confirmation or how settings vary by account and region.
Configure the narrowest permissions that support your task. Check the recipient, amount, delivery address and cancellation terms in the approval screen, then inspect the audit trail afterward. For recurring or background work, set a clear spending or account boundary where the product allows one, and avoid delegating an irreversible action until you understand its confirmation behavior.
Is Meta Muse available in my country?
Meta’s September 8 announcement described a rollout in the United States on iOS, Android and muse.ai. That does not establish availability elsewhere, and launch coverage, supported platforms and pricing may change after the announcement.

What does Qwen availability mean outside China?
The cited Alibaba announcements describe Qwen App testing and Taobao-related capabilities in China. They do not establish that the same integrations, payment functions or restaurant services operate in other countries.
Local ecosystem access is part of the product, not a portable feature label. A travel planner that can book through Chinese services may have no equivalent inventory, payment rail or mapping connection for a user abroad. Treat the geography attached to each announcement as a requirement, not a footnote.
Which agent is better for a particular job?
Choose by workflow and control requirements, not by a feature total. The following decision rules stay within what the announcements actually establish.
Choose the Muse model when your work is spread across websites
- You need an agent to navigate a browser, fill forms or coordinate several connected apps.
- You want configurable permissions and an audit trail described as part of the product design.
- You are in the United States rollout described by Meta and can use a supported iOS, Android or web entry point.
Consider Qwen’s announced model when Chinese services are central
- Your tasks involve Taobao shopping, food ordering, Alipay payments, Fliggy travel or Amap-related services.
- You are in China and can access the relevant public test or account state.
- You value a tightly integrated local ecosystem more than broad, cross-site browser coverage.
Wait or test cautiously when the task is high consequence
- The action is difficult to reverse, such as a large purchase, a binding booking or a message with legal or financial implications.
- The function is still invite-only beta or described only as a future integration.
- You need measured reliability, because the cited material contains no independent head-to-head evaluation.
How should you evaluate an agent before connecting accounts?
Run a low-risk trial that exposes the product’s control flow before granting access to payments or communications.
- Start with observation. Ask the agent to find information or draft a plan without submitting a form or changing an account.
- Limit permissions. Connect only the service needed for that test; do not add payment credentials simply because a workflow might eventually need them.
- Use a reversible action. Draft an email, build a cart without checkout, or prepare an itinerary for review.
- Watch the handoff. Note when the agent asks for approval, what details appear in the confirmation and whether you can cancel.
- Review the record. For Muse, Meta describes an audit trail; check whether the recorded steps match what you authorized.
- Revoke access after testing. Remove unused connections and review account activity on the underlying service.
This process tests practical fit without turning an unverified capability claim into an expensive or irreversible experiment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What privacy and security claims can you rely on?
Meta says Muse runs in a dedicated virtual machine and offers permissions, approvals, an audit trail and an opt-out from using interactions to train Meta’s AI models. Those statements explain the controls Meta says it provides; they are not an independent security certification.
Alibaba’s cited announcements focus on Qwen’s integrations and task examples and do not provide a matching technical account of isolation, approval prompts or training-data controls. The absence of a detail in these announcements is not proof that no control exists; it means the comparison cannot score that control from the available evidence.
For either service, separate the agent’s access from the underlying account’s authority. A tool that can see an inbox may be able to expose sensitive content even if it cannot send mail. Use dedicated accounts, minimal scopes and transaction alerts where available, and read the current privacy policy before enabling background operation.
What is still unknown about the personal-assistant race?
The announcements do not establish completion rates, latency, failure recovery, support quality, accessibility, language coverage or cost parity. They also do not show how the agents behave when a website changes, a payment fails, a service is unavailable or a user gives an ambiguous instruction.

Meta said Muse would be free for most needs with subscription plans for people who want to do more, but the cited material does not provide a stable price sheet. Product rollout and pricing are volatile. Alibaba’s public-testing and beta labels likewise do not establish final limits or commercial terms.
Meta also said a 1Password integration was coming soon so Muse could use existing logins. That was described as an upcoming connection, not a verified launch status, so it should not be treated as a current capability.

Muse and Qwen represent two different paths to personal assistance. Muse is described as a general agent operating through a virtual machine, browser and connected apps, with explicit approval and audit concepts. Qwen’s announced capabilities emphasize deep connections to Chinese commerce, payments, travel and local services, including Taobao shopping and delivery management.
Neither path wins on the unverified “400 features” figure. The useful question is whether the agent can complete your specific task, in your country, through the services you use, with a confirmation boundary you can accept. Until independent testing publishes comparable tasks and results, treat company announcements as product descriptions and make high-impact decisions only after a small, reversible trial.
Frequently asked questions
Does Qwen App work with services that are not part of Alibaba’s ecosystem?
The January announcement names integrations with Taobao, Taobao Instant Commerce, Alipay, Fliggy and Amap, but it does not provide a complete compatibility list. A service not named in the announcement may require a separate connection or may not be supported at all.
Can an agent use my saved passwords?
The cited material does not establish that Muse or Qwen can freely retrieve every saved credential. Meta mentioned a planned 1Password integration, but its launch status was not verified in the announcement set; do not assume password-manager access until the current product settings explicitly show it.
What happens if an agent makes a mistake during a purchase?
Neither announcement supplies a universal refund or dispute procedure. Before enabling checkout, identify the merchant’s cancellation policy, keep transaction notifications on and require an approval step for the amount and destination whenever the product offers one.
Are the announced beta features guaranteed to remain available?
No. Public testing and invite-only beta features can be changed, restricted or withdrawn as the company evaluates them. Save important work outside the agent and avoid making a critical process dependent on a beta-only capability.
