How do I fix a Wolverine download that will not start or is stuck?
For a queued or stalled download, try the reversible queue and network checks first. If the download remains stuck, remove only the failed download item and start it again from your Game Library.
- On the PS5, open Control Center, choose Downloads/Uploads, select Marvel’s Wolverine, and choose Pause, then Resume.
- If it still will not start or progress, select the download and choose Cancel and Delete. This removes the download item; it is not a console reset.

Installation can need more free space than the final game data occupies: Sony warns that installing data may require approximately twice the free space required. A padlock or missing purchase points first to entitlement and account access, not a failed download. Check which account bought the game and whether the transaction completed successfully.

Use the code only if it actually appears on your screen. If the message has no code, record its wording rather than assigning one based on a similar symptom.
What if Wolverine is installed but will not launch or keeps crashing?
For a game that is installed but will not start, check for a patch and restart before reinstalling. If it still fails, work through Sony’s general game-startup sequence and avoid assuming every crash is caused by the game itself.

- Install any available game update, then restart the console and try again.

If the game is installed on an M.2 SSD and gameplay trouble continues, Sony suggests moving it to built-in console storage as a troubleshooting step. An SSD is not a general-purpose launch-error fix; expand storage only if you have an actual storage need.
What should I do if the disc will not read?
Use these checks only if you own the disc version and the console is failing to read it. A disc-read problem is separate from a digital download or account-license problem.

- Check it for dirt or fingerprints and clean it with a soft, clean cloth.
- Test another supported disc. If another disc works, the first disc may be the issue; if multiple discs fail, the drive may need attention.
A disc stuck inside the console requires a different procedure. Sony’s stuck-disc instructions specify a #1 Phillips screwdriver; do not remove covers or follow that procedure for an ordinary digital download failure.
How do I use Safe Mode without choosing a data-erasing reset?
Safe Mode’s Rebuild Database option is different from resetting the PS5. Rebuilding scans and recreates the content database; the reset options delete user data and should not be used as routine first-line download fixes.
- Turn the PS5 off completely.
- Press and hold the power button until you hear the second beep.
- Connect the controller to the console with a USB cable and press the PS button.
- Choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database, then select Rebuild Database.
Do not choose Reset PS5 or Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software) unless you understand that those actions delete user data and have exhausted less destructive options. Should I buy an accessory to fix a download or launch problem?
Usually, no. First identify whether the problem is actually caused by low storage, a network connection, or a disc that will not read. Deleting or moving games you are not using costs nothing and is the sensible first response to a storage warning. Buy storage only when you need additional capacity: a compatible M.2 NVMe SSD can run PS5 games, while a USB extended-storage drive can only hold them until you copy them back to built-in or M.2 storage.

It is not a guaranteed fix, and it will not correct a PlayStation service issue or damaged game data. For disc-read symptoms, a soft clean cloth is relevant; a #1 Phillips screwdriver is relevant only to Sony’s separate stuck-disc procedure. These are symptom-specific items, not a generic shopping list of required fixes.
Sony also lists a themed Digital Edition console bundle with a game voucher and themed controllers and covers. That is an optional fan purchase, not a repair for an existing PS5, and availability through PlayStation Direct or retailers can vary. Do not replace or upgrade a working console just to troubleshoot a download, install, or launch error.
Likewise, PC repair utilities do not provide a sourced repair role for a PS5-console installation, and an unrelated streaming service will not repair a purchased game’s local install or launch.
