The 5 mm difference in the lowest published cutting position is not an error to average away. If a low cut matters to you, use the specification for your country’s page or manual rather than assuming every DLM380Z has the Canadian range.

These numbers differ because the batteries have different capacities and because the pages use different ways of describing performance. It is most naturally suited to a small or medium residential lawn where a 380 mm deck is an advantage. The Canadian guidance of up to 550 m² and the Indian estimate of up to 540 m² put it in that broad category, but the quoted area depends on the battery setup and mowing conditions.

Think carefully on large open lawns
More passes are needed as the deck gets narrower. On a large lawn, the practical limit may be the number of battery pairs you own and the time available for recharging rather than the motor’s nominal speed. Makita’s area statements are useful planning references, not boundaries that guarantee one charge will finish every lawn.
Decide whether you need collection
The supplied catcher is rated at 40 L. Makita Canada says the mower can be used with or without it, giving you a choice between collecting clippings and leaving the catcher off. The cited pages do not establish a separate mulching performance claim, so do not assume that removing the catcher turns the mower into a dedicated mulching model.

There are six height positions. The India and Malaysia listings state a 25–75 mm range, while the Canadian listing states 20–75 mm. That regional difference is material if you want a very short cut, so check the local specification before purchase.
The published material does not identify the adjustment lever’s exact location, the increment between positions or a recommended height for particular grass species. For those details, use the manual supplied for your market. Do not transfer a setting from a different Makita mower just because the controls look similar.
What is included, and what may cost extra?
The “Z” suffix is the key buying caveat. Makita Malaysia labels the DLM380Z as without battery and charger, and Makita Canada explicitly says, “Batteries and Charger Sold Separately.” The exact retail bundle still needs checking because package contents can vary by country and seller.
The Canadian tool-only listing identifies an offset wrench, blade set and grass catcher. That gives a useful baseline, but it should not be treated as a universal box-content list. Makita’s Malaysian page warns that standard equipment and specifications may vary by country or area.

Those figures can help with expectations, but they do not predict how loud the mower will seem in a particular garden. Distance, walls, fences, ground reflections and the listener’s position all affect perceived noise. Published weight is about 14.4–14.5 kg, with the exact figure depending on the regional listing and how battery weight is treated. Two installed batteries add to the lifting weight, so account for that when moving the mower up steps or loading it into a vehicle.
