If the unnamed game in this comparison is Luma Island, the short answer is that it is closer to Animal Crossing than to The Sims 4. Its advertised loop combines a welcoming island, fishing, collecting, decorating and farming with professions, exploration, magical companions and optional combat. It is not an Animal Crossing clone, and its systems are not presented as a Sims-style household simulator.

Is Luma Island already out on PS5?
No. Luma Island launched on PC in November 2024. Feel Free Games announced the PS5 version on September 24, 2026, and said players could wishlist it, but the announcement did not provide a launch date, a PS5 price or a physical-disc edition.

The same announcement says more than 800,000 players had joined the game since its November 2024 PC launch. That is a developer-reported player figure for the PC-era game by the date of the announcement; it is not a count of copies sold, PS5 players or current concurrent users.
Until a dated store listing appears, do not treat a wishlist page as proof that the console build has launched. The PC version on Steam also does not establish PS5 frame rate, resolution, controller behavior, save transfers or exact content parity.

How does Luma Island compare with The Sims 4?
The Sims 4 is fundamentally about creating Sims and guiding households. Luma Island is presented as an adventure and development game in which a player starts with a rundown farm and caravan, then builds up a life on an island. Both can involve homes and customization, but the advertised units of play are different.

In The Sims 4, you create Sims, select their traits and aspirations, build or furnish homes, manage relationships and direct careers. The central decisions concern people and the household’s changing needs.
Feel Free Games instead describes a player arriving at a neglected farm and choosing among eight professions. Its published descriptions do not promise the detailed needs meters, multigenerational household management, relationship simulation or career system associated with The Sims 4. Home building versus farm development

The Sims 4 uses careers as part of a household simulation: a Sim’s job, relationships and home life interact over time. Luma Island advertises eight professions as progression paths tied to gathering, crafting and exploration. The number eight is a developer description, not an independent test of how deep or replayable each profession is.
How does Luma Island compare with Animal Crossing?
The overlap with Animal Crossing is clearer. Both games present a friendly place where decorating, collecting and low-pressure activities are major attractions. The difference is that Luma Island adds explicit professions, farm development, larger adventure areas and selectable challenge modes.

Could the headline be referring to inZOI instead?
Possibly, but that would be a different article. Krafton’s official Steam listing describes inZOI as a PC/Mac Early Access game centered on creating characters, building, relationships and city simulation. That premise is much closer to The Sims than to Animal Crossing, yet the listing does not establish a released PS5 version or a PS5 disc.
If the intended game is inZOI, the Luma Island comparison should not be reused: the platform status, feature set and conclusion would all need to change. The current Luma Island PS5 announcement is the evidence for the interpretation used here.
