If you already own an original Nintendo Switch, wait for its announced version of Lost and Found Co. rather than buying a Switch 2 just for this game. Bit Egg Inc. has announced both Nintendo editions for early 2027, but neither is released and there is no game-specific performance evidence yet. Switch 2 has two concrete advantages: the announced Joy-Con 2 mouse controls and the ability to host GameShare, including online sharing through GameChat. Those features matter if you are buying new hardware or planning shared play. Otherwise, the sensible choice is the console you already have, because price, resolution, frame rate, loading, upgrade policy and physical format remain unconfirmed.
This is a pre-release buying guide based on Bit Egg’s October 28, 2026 announcement and Nintendo’s compatibility and GameShare documentation. The recommendation should be revisited when regional listings and attributable port details appear.

Which version should you buy?
Choose the original Switch edition if you already own that console and are happy with the announced touch, motion and local-play options. There is no measured evidence that the Switch 2 port will look or run better for this particular game, so buying a new system solely for Lost and Found Co. would be speculation.
Choose Switch 2 when you are buying a console anyway, specifically want Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, or want to host GameShare. Switch 2 is also the required system for online GameShare through GameChat. Neither version has a confirmed price, launch day or final technical specification, so postpone a final value judgment until those details are published.

- Already own Switch: wait for the original-Switch release unless mouse controls or hosting GameShare are essential.
- Buying your first console: Switch 2 offers the broader announced control and sharing feature set, but its premium is impossible to evaluate until prices are listed.
- Want to play immediately: the existing PC edition on Steam is available now, separate from the future Nintendo releases, and a demo is listed there.
- Planning four-player online sessions: wait for final game-specific instructions; Bit Egg has announced up to four players, but the exact controller and copy requirements are not published.
What has Bit Egg actually announced for Switch and Switch 2?
Bit Egg Inc. announced Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 editions on October 28, 2026, targeting early 2027 without naming an exact day. Neither edition is on sale as of the October 30 research cutoff. The announcement is available from Bit Egg’s release notice.
The developer says both console versions will include the content currently available on Steam. That is a content commitment, not proof that the ports will have identical resolution, frame rate, loading times, battery behavior or menus. It also does not promise that later PC additions will arrive simultaneously on both Nintendo systems.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsLost and Found Co. is a hand-drawn hidden-object adventure starring Ducky, a duck-turned-human intern helping Goddess Mei recover possessions in Plumville. Bit Egg’s announcement describes more than 30 hand-drawn levels, over 20 hours of exploration and more than 10,000 hand-drawn animated objects. Those are developer-supplied figures, not independent measurements of either Nintendo port. Bit Egg also says the game has sold more than 100,000 copies, carries a 97% positive Steam rating from over 3,000 reviews and has a Metacritic score of 90; each figure comes from the developer’s 2026 announcement.
The announced launch languages are English, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German and Korean. Steam lists Bit Egg as developer and Bit Egg and Gamirror Games as publishers. Its current store page labels the PC edition single-player, but that older platform listing does not override Bit Egg’s later announcement of co-op for the console editions.
How do the controls differ?
The clearest difference is hardware-specific: Bit Egg expressly names Joy-Con 2 mouse control for Switch 2. The announcement also names touchscreen tap, pinch and drag input and motion pointing for the Nintendo versions. Do not assume original Joy-Con can provide the same mouse behavior; Nintendo’s mouse feature belongs to Joy-Con 2.
Original Switch input
The announced touch and motion options fit a hidden-object game naturally. Touch can support tapping an item, pinching to zoom and dragging around a scene. Motion pointing may let a player aim at objects without moving a cursor with an analogue stick. Bit Egg has not published the complete button map, accessibility settings, pointer sensitivity or whether every mode is available in every play style.
Switch 2 input
Switch 2 includes the same announced touch and motion possibilities plus Joy-Con 2 mouse input. A mouse-like pointer could be useful for precise searches in dense illustrations, but no hands-on or game-specific control evaluation exists yet. The final software could expose different layouts for handheld, detached Joy-Con and Pro-style controllers; those details remain to be confirmed.

What neither announcement establishes

- There is no statement that one version has exclusive control-based content.
- There is no port-specific accessibility or remapping documentation yet.
Can I play with friends on one console?
Bit Egg announces up to four-player co-op locally on one device and online through GameShare via GameChat. That wording covers two different arrangements: same-device multiplayer inside the game, and Nintendo’s system-level sharing feature. Treat them separately when planning a purchase.
Same-device local co-op
A single Switch or Switch 2 is announced to support local co-op for up to four players. The developer has not published the exact controller allocation, whether players can mix Joy-Con orientations, or whether all four participants need a full controller pair. Until those instructions appear, do not assume the controllers in a box are sufficient for four people.
Local GameShare
Nintendo says a Switch 2 can initiate a compatible GameShare session and send the game to either a Switch 2 or an original Switch for local play. In that arrangement, an original Switch may receive a local share, but it is not the host. This is different from simply launching local co-op on one console.
Online GameShare through GameChat
Nintendo’s documentation says online GameShare through GameChat is for Switch 2 consoles; its wording is explicit that “GameChat is only available on Nintendo Switch 2.” A Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership are required for GameChat. A compatible USB camera is needed for video, but Nintendo says a camera is not required for voice chat. Nintendo’s current details are in its Switch 2 FAQ.
Switch 2 includes one left and one right Joy-Con 2. Additional pairs are sold separately, so a four-player setup may require extra hardware depending on the final control scheme. Bit Egg has not yet said whether one purchased copy covers every local or online four-player configuration. Wait for the game’s final GameShare instructions before buying controllers for a specific group.
Does Switch 2 hardware guarantee a better-looking port?
No. Switch 2 has a 7.9-inch 1080p display as a system specification, but that is not a rendering specification for Lost and Found Co. The announcement publishes no resolution target, frame-rate target, loading comparison, display scaling behavior or battery estimate for either port.
It would therefore be inaccurate to promise 4K output, 120 frames per second, faster loading or longer battery life for this game. Those outcomes depend on the finished software, display mode and patch state. Nintendo’s general hardware capabilities cannot substitute for an attributable test or developer specification.

Does the Switch version work on Switch 2?
Nintendo says Switch 2 runs compatible original-Switch game cards and digital games, with exceptions. Its compatibility guidance explains the system policy, but it does not confirm how Lost and Found Co. will be packaged or whether a Nintendo edition will receive a specific enhancement. The policy is documented in Nintendo’s compatibility support article.
Some original-Switch games receive free updates or paid Switch 2 Edition upgrade packs. Nintendo limits those packs to select titles. No Lost and Found Co. upgrade pack has been established, so “buy the Switch version now and upgrade later” is not a reliable plan. Verify the product listing and Nintendo’s update notes before assuming an upgrade exists or is free.
Is there a physical copy, game price or upgrade deal?
None of those details is confirmed in the reviewed announcement. Bit Egg has not announced a game price, regional MSRP, physical cartridge, game-key card, boxed download code, cross-buy arrangement or paid/free upgrade for Lost and Found Co.
Nintendo describes several card and boxed-code formats in its general documentation, but those descriptions explain possible formats rather than this game’s release. Do not buy a purported cartridge or game-key card listing until Bit Egg or an official regional Nintendo store confirms it. The same caution applies to upgrade promises made by retailers.

How much game content and language support is planned?
Bit Egg’s announced scope is the same for both Nintendo versions: the content currently available on Steam, with seven launch languages—English, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German and Korean. The developer describes more than 30 hand-drawn levels, 20-plus hours of exploration and over 10,000 animated objects.
These figures describe the game’s overall offering, not a guarantee that every console scene, interface or accessibility option will match the PC edition on day one. The console announcement does not list resolution, save-transfer behavior, cloud-save support or post-launch update timing.

Steam shows a March 5, 2026 release date, while another report renders March 6. That display difference concerns the PC listing and should not be treated as two Nintendo launch dates. The Steam demo can let prospective players sample the PC version before the console editions arrive, but a PC impression cannot establish how either Nintendo port performs.

You already own an original Switch
Wait for the announced Switch version. It is the only option that avoids buying new hardware for an unmeasured benefit, and it is promised the same currently available Steam content. Reconsider only if later specifications show a feature you specifically need or if the original-Switch release is delayed or cancelled.
You are buying a console for this game and other titles
Switch 2 is the more feature-rich announced platform because it adds Joy-Con 2 mouse control and GameShare hosting. Whether that justifies its eventual price depends on your wider library and multiplayer plans; Lost and Found Co. alone does not provide enough evidence to calculate a premium.
You want to host shared play
Choose Switch 2 if hosting matters. An original Switch can participate in a compatible local GameShare session sent by Switch 2, but Nintendo’s online GameChat sharing is Switch 2-to-Switch 2. Confirm the game’s final player, controller and copy requirements before purchasing extra Joy-Con 2 pairs.
You want to play before early 2027
The currently available Steam edition is the only announced way to play now, and its store page lists a demo. It is a PC release, not evidence that either Nintendo version is already available, and its single-player label should not be used to dismiss Bit Egg’s later console co-op announcement.

What should you verify before release?
Check these details when Bit Egg and official regional Nintendo listings update their pages:
- Confirm the exact launch day for your region and whether both editions launch together.
- Compare the listed game prices, taxes and any regional differences.
- Look for an official statement about a cartridge, game-key card or boxed code.
- Check whether a Switch purchase includes a Switch 2 version or whether an upgrade pack exists and what it costs.
- Read the final controller map, local-player limit and GameShare rules.
- Verify whether online GameShare requires Nintendo Switch Online for every participant and which console hosts.
- Look for attributable resolution, frame-rate and loading information rather than relying on the Switch 2 screen specification.
- Confirm language availability and whether the promised Steam content is present at launch.
How we picked the recommendation
The ranking uses only announced compatibility, controls, multiplayer roles, availability and ownership information. It does not assume a performance advantage, a price difference, a physical release or an upgrade path that Bit Egg and Nintendo have not confirmed. The recommendation favors the existing console for current owners and Switch 2 only when its announced hardware-specific features solve a reader’s stated need.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use an original Switch as the host for online GameShare?
No. Nintendo’s GameChat-based online GameShare is a Switch 2 feature. An original Switch may receive a compatible local GameShare session from Switch 2, but that local arrangement is not the same as hosting an online GameChat share.
Is a camera required for GameChat voice chat?
No. Nintendo says a compatible USB camera is for video, while voice chat does not require a camera. You still need a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership for GameChat.

That has not been established for this game. Bit Egg announces up to four players and GameShare support, but the final rules for copies, hosts and controllers have not been published, so do not assume one purchase covers every four-player setup.
Why do the developer’s Steam review figures differ from the store page?
Bit Egg’s announcement cites a 97% positive rating from more than 3,000 reviews, while Steam can display differently filtered totals, including an English-review subset. Those are different measurements and should not be merged into a single console-quality score.
When will this buying advice become more certain?
It becomes more certain when official listings provide a launch day, prices, packaging and upgrade terms, followed by attributable platform-specific performance information after release. Until then, the control and GameShare distinctions are firm, while visual quality and value remain open questions.
