Yes, but only when your shared host supplies the same capabilities Laravel expects in production. You can build Laravel 13 and Filament v3 on a local computer, upload the completed application and dependencies, point the domain to Laravel’s public directory, configure the database and environment in your hosting panel, and run required Artisan tasks through a control-panel runner or a locally prepared release. The host must provide PHP 8.3 or newer, Laravel’s required extensions, writable runtime directories, database access, HTTPS, and a workable approach for migrations, caching, and public storage. If it cannot run those tasks or maintain the processes your application needs, shared hosting is not production-ready for that project.
Can Laravel 13 and Filament v3 run on shared hosting without SSH?
They can, provided you separate local build work from server work and your provider exposes equivalent control-panel features. “No SSH” does not mean “no server administration”: someone still has to install PHP dependencies, compile frontend assets, migrate the database, create the storage link or configure remote storage, and warm production caches.

Filament v3 lists PHP 8.1+, Laravel 10.0+, and Livewire 3.0+, so Laravel 13’s PHP requirement is the stricter baseline. Filament’s own documentation also says that Filament 3.x is no longer actively maintained. Treat it as a legacy-compatible choice and check package compatibility before starting a new project.
What must shared hosting provide before you deploy?
Ask the host to confirm each item in writing. A generic “Laravel supported” badge is not enough.

| Capability | Production requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| PHP runtime | PHP 8.3 or newer, selectable for the domain | Laravel 13 will not run on an older PHP version. |
| PHP extensions | Ctype, cURL, DOM, Fileinfo, Filter, Hash, Mbstring, OpenSSL, PCRE, PDO, Session, Tokenizer, and XML | Laravel and its dependencies use these at runtime. |
| Web-root control | Domain or subdomain can point to the project’s public directory |
Only the public front controller and public assets should be web-accessible. |
| Writable paths | storage and bootstrap/cache writable by PHP |
Logs, sessions, compiled views, cached configuration, and uploads need write access. |
| Database | Provisioning for a supported database, credentials, and remote/local connection details | Migrations and application reads and writes depend on it. |
| Task execution | Control-panel terminal, task runner, cron command, or another way to run Artisan | Deployments need migrations, optimization, storage linking, and Filament cache commands. |
| Composer strategy | Composer on the server or permission to upload a locally built vendor directory |
Laravel cannot boot without its PHP dependencies. |
| Public storage support | Symlink creation, a provider-supported equivalent, or external SFTP/FTP/S3-compatible storage | Filament image and file fields need a reliable public media path. |
| HTTPS, backups, and limits | Working TLS certificate, recoverable backups, and documented CPU, memory, process, and storage limits | Admin credentials, uploads, and recovery depend on these operational controls. |
Laravel 13’s required extensions are a hard gate. Use the host’s PHP selector or information page to verify the active version and extensions for the actual domain, not merely the account’s default PHP version.
What should you build on your local computer?
Do every step that needs Node, npm, Bun, Composer, or a full development environment locally unless the host explicitly supplies those tools.
Install and lock PHP dependencies
Run Composer for the application locally and retain the resulting lock file. If the host has no Composer access, upload the complete vendor directory generated for the production PHP version. Do not upload a development-only dependency tree and assume the server will repair it.
Compile frontend assets
Laravel’s installation workflow uses Node with npm or Bun to build frontend assets. Run the project’s normal install and build commands, for example:
npm install
npm run build
Upload the generated production assets along with the application. Building on the server is optional only when the provider supplies a compatible Node toolchain and enough resources; a local build is more predictable on restrictive shared plans.
Install Filament in the project
For a Filament 3 project, the documented installation command is:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutecomposer require filament/filament:"^3.2" -W
php artisan filament:install --panels
The installer creates app/Providers/Filament/AdminPanelProvider.php. The default panel URL shown by the installation guide is /admin. Create your panel, resources, policies, and users locally, then test the exact release that you intend to upload.

Keep Filament’s php artisan filament:upgrade post-autoload-dump Composer hook. Filament documents that the hook keeps package assets current after dependencies are downloaded. If your deployment process removes the hook, run the command manually as part of the release.
How should the Laravel files be arranged on shared hosting?
Upload the whole application, but expose only its public directory to the web server.
- Create a directory outside the public web root for the application when your host permits it.
- Upload the Laravel project, including
app, bootstrap, config, database, resources, routes, storage, vendor, and the built public files. - Set the domain or subdomain document root to
/path/to/your-project/publicin the hosting control panel. - Keep
.env, source code, and dependency files outside the public directory whenever the provider’s layout allows it. - Confirm that the web server resolves requests through
public/index.phpand that your host’s rewrite rules are enabled.
Do not move index.php into the project root as a shortcut. Laravel warns that serving the project root can expose sensitive configuration files to the public Internet. If the provider cannot point a domain at a subdirectory, ask support for a proper document-root change before deploying.
How do you configure the production environment and database?
Create the production database first, then configure the application to use it. The exact control-panel labels vary, but the values belong in the environment configuration used by the deployed release.
- Create a database and database user, record the host, port, database name, username, and password, and grant only the permissions the application needs.
- Set
APP_ENV=productionandAPP_DEBUG=false. - Set
APP_URLto the final HTTPS address, including the correct subdomain if applicable. - Enter the database connection variables and any mail, queue, cache, or filesystem settings required by your application.
- Generate or provide a stable application key for the release; do not replace it on every deployment if encrypted data already exists.
- Save the file or panel variables, then verify that PHP can read them without making the file publicly downloadable.
Never enable debug mode on the live site. Laravel states that production debug output can expose sensitive configuration values. Use logs and a controlled test instead of displaying exception details to visitors.
How can you run Artisan commands without SSH?
Use whichever equivalent your host supplies: a control-panel terminal, a scheduled-task interface that can run commands immediately, a deployment task runner, or a locally prepared release where commands that do not require the server are run before upload. Database migrations and storage linking still need access to the production filesystem or database, so they cannot always be completed locally.
Run the production operations in a deliberate order:

- Upload the new code,
vendordirectory, and compiled assets. - Run the migration with production confirmation:
php artisan migrate --force
- Create the public storage link, if the provider permits symbolic links:
php artisan storage:link
- Build Laravel’s production caches:
php artisan optimize
- Warm Filament’s component and icon caches:
php artisan filament:cache-components
php artisan icons:cache
Filament’s deployment guidance also recommends php artisan filament:optimize, which caches Filament components and Blade Icons. Use the command set appropriate to the Filament version and deployment guidance used by your project; do not assume a cache generated for one release remains valid after changing packages.
Laravel documents optimize as the convenient production cache command and separately supports configuration, event, route, and view caching. Run cache commands only after the correct environment variables and code are in place, because cached configuration can preserve an earlier value until the cache is rebuilt.
If the provider offers OPcache, enable it according to its panel instructions. Filament recommends OPcache when the server supports it. Clear or reset it through the provider’s supported method after a release if old PHP code continues to execute.
How do you make Filament uploads work?
Laravel’s public disk stores files in storage/app/public. The standard public arrangement exposes that directory through a link at public/storage:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →php artisan storage:link
After creating the link, test an actual Filament upload and open the resulting URL from an incognito browser window. Check both the file write and the public read; a successful form submission alone does not prove that the web server can serve the file.
If symlinks are disabled
There is no universal cPanel workaround. Ask the provider whether it supports a control-panel symlink, an approved alias, or a deployment task that runs storage:link. Do not replace the link by exposing the entire project directory.
For media-heavy panels, configure a remote filesystem instead. Laravel supports SFTP, FTP, Amazon S3, and S3-compatible disks. The correct choice depends on the provider’s credentials, outbound network rules, storage costs, and the application’s filesystem configuration.

How do you install and expose the Filament admin panel?
Install the panel locally with the Filament installer, commit or upload the generated provider and application code, and make sure the deployed dependencies match the lock file. The default route is /admin, but your panel provider can define a different path.
Recommended Free Tools
Before opening the panel publicly, create an authorized user and confirm that your policies prevent ordinary accounts from reaching administrative resources. Test login, logout, password handling, authorization checks, forms, tables, validation, and any custom actions using production-like data.
Because Filament 3 is no longer actively maintained, record the exact package versions in your release process and plan a future upgrade path. A shared host that satisfies today’s PHP requirement may still become unsuitable when a maintained Filament or Laravel version raises the minimum runtime.
What should you verify immediately after deployment?
Use the following release check rather than relying on the homepage alone.
- Visit the application over HTTPS and confirm that the final
APP_URLproduces correct links. - Open Laravel’s built-in
/uproute. It returns HTTP 200 when the application boots without exceptions and HTTP 500 when boot fails. - Open
/adminand test an authorized login. - Read existing records and create, update, and delete a harmless test record where appropriate.
- Submit Filament forms with valid and invalid data to verify validation and error handling.
- Upload a representative image or document, then retrieve it from the resulting public URL.
- Check generated CSS, JavaScript, icons, and images in the browser’s network panel.
- Review application logs after each test and confirm that
storageandbootstrap/cacheremain writable. - Run a queue job or scheduled task if the application depends on one, and document whether the host actually executes it.
- Confirm that backups can be restored, not merely that a backup job reports success.
What commonly fails on shared hosting, and how do you recover?
The site shows a PHP version or extension error
Select PHP 8.3 or newer for the specific domain and enable every required extension. If the selector does not offer the version or an extension, the account cannot run Laravel 13 reliably; move the application or change plans rather than suppressing the check.
The homepage returns a 404 or exposes files
Inspect the document-root setting first. It should end in the application’s public directory. Never solve this by copying index.php to the project root, because that can expose configuration and source files.
Every request returns a 500 after deployment
Check the application log and the host’s PHP error log, then verify environment variables, the application key, database credentials, PHP extensions, and write permissions. Run /up to distinguish a boot failure from a route or authorization problem. If configuration was cached before the final environment was saved, rebuild the caches.

Filament loads but uploads fail
Confirm that PHP can write to storage, that the selected disk is configured correctly, and that public/storage exists when using the local public disk. If symbolic links are blocked, obtain the provider’s approved alternative or move media to an SFTP, FTP, S3, or S3-compatible disk.
New code appears only after a delay
Stale Laravel caches or OPcache can serve an older release. Run the appropriate optimization and Filament cache commands after uploading the new code, then use the host’s supported OPcache reset procedure. Do not delete production files blindly while diagnosing a cache issue.
Queues, Reverb, or Octane stop working
These features need processes that survive beyond a single web request. Laravel’s deployment guidance calls for workers and related services to be reloaded or restarted after deployment. Ordinary shared hosting often cannot provide a persistent process monitor, so use a host that explicitly supports those processes or redesign the workload around capabilities the plan actually offers.
When should you choose something other than shared hosting?
Shared hosting is reasonable for a conventional request-response Laravel application when the provider meets the runtime, filesystem, database, and task requirements. Escalate when the application needs persistent workers, Reverb, Octane, Redis, unusual PHP extensions, predictable resource isolation, or frequent zero-downtime releases.
| Hosting path | Best fit | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Shared hosting | Small or moderate Laravel applications with panel-managed deployment and limited background processing | Provider-specific PHP settings, process limits, symlink restrictions, and weak Artisan access can block production needs. |
| Managed Laravel platform | Teams wanting Laravel-focused infrastructure, deployment automation, and scaling without managing a server | Review supported PHP versions, database topology, queue services, storage, backups, and the platform’s deployment model. |
| VPS managed with a deployment panel | Applications needing control over Nginx, PHP workers, databases, Redis, scheduled tasks, or long-running processes | You gain control but inherit server security, patching, capacity planning, and recovery responsibilities. |
Laravel describes Laravel Cloud as a managed, auto-scaling Laravel platform and Laravel Forge as a VPS management platform that provisions and manages services such as Nginx, MySQL, Redis, Memcached, and Beanstalk. These are escalation paths when shared hosting cannot satisfy the application’s runtime or process requirements; verify current availability, limits, and terms before choosing one.
What is the production-ready decision?
Proceed with a terminal-free shared-host deployment only after a test release proves all of the following: the host runs PHP 8.3 with Laravel’s extensions, the domain points to public, dependencies and assets can be prepared reproducibly, the environment and database work, required Artisan commands can run, uploads have a supported storage path, and your operational checks pass. If any of those capabilities is unavailable, the problem is not a missing tutorial step; the hosting environment is the constraint.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I upload only the Laravel public folder?
No. The web server should expose the public folder, but the application also needs its framework code, configuration, routes, storage, bootstrap files, and Composer dependencies outside that web root. Uploading only public assets leaves the application unable to boot.
Do I need Composer installed on the shared server?
Not necessarily. You can install dependencies locally and upload the production-ready vendor directory, provided it was built for a compatible PHP environment. Server-side Composer is still useful for repeatable releases and package hooks, but it is not the only deployment method.
What happens if a migration fails halfway through?
Stop the release and inspect the database error before retrying. Restore from a verified backup if the migration changed data incorrectly, correct the schema or permissions issue, and rerun the migration only after confirming the application code and database state are compatible.
Can I hide the Filament panel behind a different URL?
Yes. The panel provider controls its path, so you can choose a route other than the installer’s default. A changed URL is not authorization by itself; enforce authentication and policies and test unauthorized requests.
