Yes—if you want one 27-inch display that can switch between detailed 4K gaming and extremely fast 1080p play, the KOORUI S2741LM is a compelling option. Its 3840×2160 mode runs at up to 160Hz, while a 1920×1080 mode reaches 320Hz. A 1,152-zone QD Mini LED backlight, DisplayHDR 1400 positioning, HDMI 2.1, USB-C with 90W charging, KVM and an adjustable stand give it a feature set usually spread across several monitors.

It is not flawless. Independent testing found inverse ghosting at low refresh rates, muted small HDR highlights caused by black crush, reflections in bright rooms and unreliable out-of-box color accuracy. Calibration is important for image work. For PC gaming and mixed-use desks, however, its dual-mode flexibility and connectivity make the S2741LM more versatile than a conventional 4K gaming monitor.

What is the KOORUI S2741LM?

The S2741LM is a 27-inch IPS monitor using a quantum-dot (QD) layer and a 1,152-zone Mini LED local-dimming backlight. It is designed around two operating modes rather than one compromise refresh rate: native 4K UHD at up to 160Hz for detail, or Full HD at up to 320Hz for speed. KOORUI describes those modes as a choice between detail and responsiveness, and RTINGS classifies the monitor as great for PC gaming.

The panel is aimed at buyers who play visually demanding single-player games but also compete in titles where a very high frame rate matters. The same hardware includes USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode with 90W power delivery, a USB-A hub, KVM switching, picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture, two HDMI 2.1 inputs, DisplayPort 1.4 and a headphone output. A height-, swivel-, tilt- and rotation-adjustable stand and 100×100mm VESA mounting broaden its office and workstation use.

How do the 4K 160Hz and 1080p 320Hz modes work?

Use 4K/160Hz when you want maximum image detail; switch to 1080p/320Hz when your game and graphics card can produce very high frame rates and motion speed is the priority. The monitor is not simultaneously 4K at 160Hz and 1080p at 320Hz—the two refresh targets belong to different resolutions.

Mode Resolution Maximum refresh rate Best fit
UHD 3840×2160 160Hz Detailed games, general PC use, editing and high-resolution console output
FHD 1920×1080 320Hz Competitive games where frame rate and motion clarity matter more than sharpness

At 27 inches, 4K produces substantially denser text and game detail than 1080p. The FHD mode is therefore a deliberate performance setting, not an image-quality upgrade: it gives the graphics pipeline fewer pixels to render, but fine text and distant game detail look softer than in 4K. Keep the 4K mode for desktop work and slower games, and reserve 320Hz for titles in which your system can sustain the necessary frame rates.

RTINGS measured low input lag and consistently fast response behavior overall. It also found support for common variable-refresh-rate formats, allowing the display to synchronize refresh with a compatible graphics card or console. The important qualification is that inverse ghosting can appear at low refresh rates, so the fastest overdrive setting is not automatically the best choice when frame rates fall.

Is the Mini LED HDR picture better than ordinary IPS?

The 1,152 independently controlled dimming zones let the S2741LM darken large parts of the screen while keeping bright areas intense. That gives it deeper blacks and higher perceived contrast than a typical edge-lit IPS monitor. KOORUI positions the monitor as HDR1400, and TFTCentral reports VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification; the manufacturer lists more than 1,400 nits of HDR brightness.

Those figures describe the product’s HDR positioning and certification rather than a guarantee that every scene will look perfect. RTINGS found that small HDR highlights can look muted because black crush suppresses shadow information and limits the apparent impact of nearby bright details. TFTCentral also reported decent blooming control, but noted weaker shadow detail in some modes. Brightness and contrast are therefore strengths, while shadow rendering requires more care than the HDR label alone suggests.

What the 1,152 zones change

  • Dark scenes can look substantially deeper than on a conventional IPS backlight.
  • Bright windows, lamps and explosions can be driven harder without illuminating the entire screen as much as a global backlight would.
  • Haloing is reduced compared with displays using very few dimming zones, although local dimming cannot eliminate blooming around high-contrast objects.
  • Shadow detail may be lost in particular picture modes, so check dark areas after changing HDR or dimming settings.

How it compares with OLED

OLED controls each pixel and can produce black pixels without a backlight, while the S2741LM remains an LCD with zoned illumination. That gives OLED an inherent black-level advantage in a dark room. The S2741LM counters with a 1,152-zone backlight, high certified HDR output and no need to accept a single fixed resolution and refresh behavior.

There is no evidence here that the S2741LM is universally better than OLED at its regional selling price. Choose it when dual-mode gaming, sustained bright HDR and LCD-style desktop flexibility matter more than pixel-level blacks. Choose an OLED alternative when absolute black uniformity is your overriding priority and its resolution, refresh mode, price and care requirements fit your use.

How good is the S2741LM for PC gaming?

For PC gaming, the monitor’s main advantage is adaptability. A high-end graphics card can use 4K at 160Hz in visually rich games, while a competitive setup can switch to 1080p at 320Hz. RTINGS found low input lag, fast response and broad VRR support, which are the core requirements for responsive play.

Where it performs best

  • Single-player and simulation games: 4K resolution preserves fine texture and interface detail, and 160Hz provides smoother motion than a 60Hz office monitor.
  • Competitive games: 320Hz gives the system a high-refresh target when it can render well above 160 frames per second.
  • Mixed libraries: You can keep a single monitor on the desk instead of choosing between a 4K display and a separate esports panel.

Motion caveats

Response tuning is not equally optimal in every mode. TFTCentral found the tuning less ideal in the 320Hz dual-mode setting, while RTINGS observed inverse ghosting at low refresh rates. If you see bright or dark trails behind moving objects, lower the overdrive level or use a more moderate setting. Test overdrive with the frame rates you actually play rather than choosing the most aggressive label.

VRR is most useful when frame rate varies. It can smooth the transition between 4K scenes that are too demanding for a locked 160 frames per second and lighter scenes that run faster. The best result depends on your graphics card, game settings and selected mode; the monitor does not make a slow system render at 320 frames per second.

Does it work well with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S?

Yes. RTINGS reports that the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth supports the signal formats used by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Dolby Vision as the exception. You can therefore use the monitor for current-generation console gaming without treating it as a basic HDMI display.

Console output is limited by each console’s own maximum resolution and refresh behavior. The S2741LM’s 320Hz FHD mode is mainly a PC feature; a console will not automatically gain a 320Hz console signal simply because the monitor supports that mode. Use the console’s video settings to confirm the negotiated resolution, refresh rate and HDR state after connecting.

Is USB-C charging and KVM useful for a laptop desk?

USB-C supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and up to 90W of power delivery. A compatible laptop can receive video and charging over one cable, while the monitor’s USB hub provides peripherals for a cleaner desk. The 90W figure is the monitor’s stated maximum power-delivery capability; the laptop may draw less depending on its own charging limits and workload.

KVM lets one keyboard and mouse set control two connected computers after you assign the corresponding video and USB inputs. This is valuable if you alternate between a desktop and a work laptop. PiP and PbP can show two sources at once, although the exact layout and available combinations depend on the monitor’s on-screen menu.

Connection layout

Connection or feature What it provides Practical use
2× HDMI 2.1 High-bandwidth digital video Console and PC connections, including PS5 and Xbox Series X|S signal support except Dolby Vision
DisplayPort 1.4 PC video input Primary desktop-gaming connection
USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and up to 90W power delivery One-cable laptop video, charging and USB integration
USB-A hub Peripheral connectivity Keyboard, mouse and other USB devices
Headphone output Analog audio pass-through Headset or powered-speaker connection
KVM, PiP and PbP Source and peripheral management Two-computer workstations and side-by-side sources

Is it suitable for office work and programming?

Yes, particularly when sharp text and a single-cable laptop setup are priorities. The native 4K resolution gives a 27-inch desktop high pixel density, and USB-C charging, KVM and the ergonomic stand reduce cable and peripheral clutter. Height, swivel, tilt and rotation adjustments make it easier to align the display with a second monitor or portrait-oriented document.

Reflections are the main office drawback identified by RTINGS. In a sunny room, windows or lamps can distract from dark content and reduce the perceived benefit of the local dimming. Position the screen perpendicular to strong windows, lower direct lighting behind the viewer and use a moderate brightness instead of compensating for reflections with excessive luminance.

Can you use it for photo or video editing?

The panel has a wide stated gamut: 99% sRGB, 99% Adobe RGB and 98% DCI-P3, with 10-bit support listed by KOORUI. Local dimming can produce deep blacks, which is useful when evaluating contrast in HDR material. Those specifications make the monitor capable of serving as an editing display, but they do not guarantee accurate color without setup.

RTINGS found the sRGB mode inaccurate out of the box and recommends calibration for dependable images. Treat the factory profile as a starting point. For color-critical work, use a measured calibration workflow and validate the final output on the target devices or delivery standard. Without calibration, wide-gamut color may appear oversaturated in applications that do not manage color correctly.

What are the stand, mounting and everyday hardware features?

The included stand supports height, swivel, tilt and rotation adjustments. That range is useful for setting the panel’s top edge at eye level, reducing neck movement and turning the screen for portrait documents. If you prefer a monitor arm, the display supports the 100×100mm VESA mounting pattern.

The combination of a 27-inch size, IPS viewing characteristics, QD color layer and Mini LED backlight makes the hardware flexible, but the local-dimming behavior is still mode-dependent. Change one picture or HDR setting at a time and inspect both a dark scene and a bright highlight before deciding on a permanent profile.

How should you set up the S2741LM?

  1. Choose the correct input. Connect a gaming PC through DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1, a console through HDMI 2.1, or a compatible laptop through USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode.
  2. Select the intended mode. Use 3840×2160 for desktop work and detailed games; choose 1920×1080 only when the 320Hz target benefits the game you are playing.
  3. Enable the desired refresh rate in the operating system. Confirm that the system reports 160Hz in 4K or 320Hz in FHD rather than assuming the mode changed successfully.
  4. Turn on VRR where appropriate. Enable the graphics-card or console variable-refresh option, then verify that the monitor is receiving the expected signal.
  5. Start with moderate response tuning. If moving objects show inverse ghosting, reduce overdrive instead of leaving the most aggressive response setting enabled.
  6. Configure HDR only for HDR content. Use the operating system and game HDR controls when playing HDR titles; compare shadow detail and highlight visibility after enabling local dimming.
  7. Set up USB-C and KVM. Connect the laptop to USB-C, attach peripherals to the USB-A hub, assign the video and USB source in the monitor menu, and test switching before relying on it for work.
  8. Calibrate for editing. Do not rely on the factory sRGB mode for color-critical output. Apply a measured profile and check the result in a color-managed application.

What are the main drawbacks?

  • Low-refresh inverse ghosting: aggressive response settings can create artifacts when frame rates drop.
  • 320Hz tuning is not perfect: TFTCentral found the response behavior less ideal in that dual-mode setting than the headline number suggests.
  • HDR black crush: small highlights may look less impactful and shadow detail can disappear in some modes.
  • Factory color accuracy: the sRGB mode is not dependable without calibration.
  • Reflections: a bright room can make the glossy-looking image characteristics distracting, according to RTINGS.
  • DIC menu complexity: TFTCentral describes some dual-image or DIC-mode settings as awkward to configure.
  • Resolution trade-off: 320Hz requires switching to 1080p, so desktop text and fine game detail are softer than in 4K.

What does it cost, and how should you buy it?

The S2741LM’s Amazon price, seller, stock and delivery vary by region and date. KOORUI’s product information directs buyers to verify the exact model and variant before ordering. Do not treat a cached price or a different-size listing as the price of this monitor.

Before purchasing, check the listing for the exact “S2741LM” model number, confirm that the included input and power specifications match your region, and review the return policy. Price matters because the monitor’s value depends on whether its dual-mode 4K/320Hz capability and USB-C/KVM package cost less than buying separate displays or sacrificing one of those features.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Who should buy the KOORUI S2741LM?

Buy it if you want one display for high-detail 4K gaming, high-refresh competitive play, laptop charging and a multi-computer desk. It is especially attractive when you can use the 90W USB-C connection and KVM every day, not merely as specifications on a box.

Look elsewhere if you need guaranteed factory-accurate color, perfect pixel-level blacks, flawless low-refresh overdrive or a 320Hz mode that keeps 4K resolution. The S2741LM is a versatile LCD gaming monitor, not a universal replacement for a calibrated professional reference display or an OLED panel.

How does it compare with a conventional 4K IPS monitor?

Compared with a standard 4K IPS monitor, the S2741LM adds a 1,152-zone Mini LED backlight, higher HDR positioning, a 320Hz FHD mode, HDMI 2.1 and a 90W USB-C/KVM workstation feature set. Those additions matter most to people who genuinely switch between gaming styles or computers.

A conventional display may be preferable when you only need 4K productivity, do not use HDR, or want a simpler setup with fewer mode-specific settings. The S2741LM’s extra capability also brings more configuration decisions: local-dimming behavior, overdrive selection, HDR handling and calibration all deserve attention.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Final verdict: is the KOORUI S2741LM worth buying?

The KOORUI S2741LM is worth considering as a do-everything 27-inch gaming and work monitor. Its combination of 4K/160Hz, 1080p/320Hz, 1,152-zone Mini LED HDR, low measured input lag, VRR, USB-C 90W charging, KVM and ergonomic adjustment is unusually broad. RTINGS’ positive PC-gaming assessment and TFTCentral’s description of an impressive, competitively positioned Mini LED monitor support that conclusion.

Buy with realistic expectations: HDR can crush shadows, small highlights may be muted, the fastest response setting can misbehave at low refresh rates, and accurate editing requires calibration. Verify the exact regional listing and current price, then choose the monitor if its flexibility is more valuable to you than OLED’s pixel-level blacks or a specialist display’s factory-tuned color.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the S2741LM include a USB-C cable that supports 90W charging?

The monitor specification confirms USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and up to 90W power delivery, but the available data does not establish which cable is bundled. Check the regional box contents and use a cable rated for the required video and power transfer.

Can I run 4K at 160Hz over every input?

The product supports 4K up to 160Hz, but the available refresh rate depends on the input, cable and source device. Confirm the negotiated mode in your operating system or console settings rather than assuming every connection exposes the maximum.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Will HDR work correctly with a Mac or USB-C laptop?

A compatible USB-C port can carry DisplayPort Alt Mode, but HDR support also depends on the laptop’s graphics hardware, operating system and application. If HDR is unavailable, test the same display through HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort to isolate the source limitation.

Is the 320Hz mode useful if my game runs below 200 frames per second?

Its benefit is limited when frame rate remains far below the refresh ceiling. You can still select the mode, but a stable frame rate and sensible VRR/overdrive settings matter more than the nominal 320Hz number.
