You can keep Elden Ring gameplay live on YouTube around the clock with OBS or another encoder, but a single unattended broadcast is not a dependable forever-stream. Verify that your channel can go live, configure a reliable encoder, test the full setup, and plan for restarts, monitoring, local recordings, copyright interruptions, and monetization rules. YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived, so a channel that stays live and a replay that is safely preserved are two different goals.
What do you need before starting an always-on Elden Ring stream?
For a PC playthrough, the basic setup is a YouTube channel with live streaming enabled, Elden Ring running on the gaming PC, OBS or another encoder, and a stable upload connection. Add a microphone, webcam, overlays, or a capture card only if your format needs them. A console setup needs a capture card to bring the console’s HDMI output into the encoder; a PC player can capture gameplay directly with OBS Game Capture.

- Channel access: YouTube requires channel verification and may apply restrictions. First-time live streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it and confirm access before planning a launch.
- Game source: Use OBS Game Capture for PC gameplay. For a console or other external HDMI source, connect a capture card to the computer and add it as a video source.
- Audio: Capture game audio, then add a microphone if you plan to host, commentate, coach, or give spoken updates. A silent gameplay feed does not require a microphone.
- Network and power: The encoder needs a consistent upload connection and a computer that can run the game and encode video at the same time. A desktop or laptop that sleeps, restarts for updates, overheats, loses power, or drops its network connection can interrupt the broadcast.
- Archive plan: Decide whether you will end and restart the live session on a schedule, record locally while live, or do both.
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming for gameplay and production setups using overlays and external audio or video hardware. It is the flexible route when the stream needs more than a direct console broadcast. There is no published guarantee that a YouTube stream can remain uninterrupted indefinitely, so design for interruption rather than treating 24/7 as a promise of perfect uptime.
How do you set up OBS and connect it to YouTube?
Use the same complete show in testing that you intend to run publicly. A private or unlisted test helps catch gameplay, audio, encoder, and network problems before viewers encounter them.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Enable live streaming: In YouTube, open Live Control Room and confirm that your channel is eligible and live streaming is enabled. If it is the channel’s first livestream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Run OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard: The wizard considers your intended use, computer resources, and network conditions. Start with its suggested configuration rather than assuming the computer should use the highest available quality.
- Add the game source: On PC, add Elden Ring with Game Capture. If that does not show the game, check that the intended game is running and review the source’s capture mode. Display or window capture can be alternatives, but capture only the screen or application you intend viewers to see. For console gameplay, add the capture card as a video-capture source.
- Set up audio intentionally: Check that game audio reaches the stream and is not overpowering speech. Add and test a microphone only if the format uses one. Listen to the resulting test recording or stream; meters moving in OBS do not by themselves confirm that the audience hears a balanced mix.
- Connect the encoder: In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the live event and connect OBS using the stream key and server details YouTube provides. Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it on stream, post it publicly, or include it in screenshots. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube before broadcasting again.
- Prefer RTMPS where supported: YouTube’s encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS and recommends using RTMPS where the encoder and connection support it.
- Test privately or unlisted: Start the encoder, check YouTube’s stream health, watch for audio and video issues, and confirm that the stream behaves as expected during gameplay. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health during the broadcast.
- Go public only when ready: Confirm the correct event, title, visibility, game feed, audio, and stream health in Live Control Room before starting the public show.
Keep access to the channel and the stream key limited to people who need them. If someone else will monitor the broadcast, agree on who can restart OBS, end the YouTube event, or replace a compromised key before the stream begins.
Which OBS settings should you use for Elden Ring?
Choose settings that the computer and upload connection can sustain consistently. YouTube’s published encoder guidance gives a practical 1080p60 H.264 reference, but it does not mean every creator should target that output; a stable lower-resolution or lower-frame-rate stream is preferable to a feed that repeatedly buffers or drops frames.

| Video codec and protocol | H.264, H.265, or AV1 options; RTMP/RTMPS streaming | Choose a codec and protocol supported by your encoder and workflow. Use RTMPS where supported. |
| 1080p60 H.264 video bitrate | 6 Mbps minimum; 17 Mbps recommended | These are YouTube’s figures for this specific output mode, not a guarantee that your connection can sustain it. Test upload capacity and stream health. |
| Rate control | CBR | Use constant bitrate for the video encoder. |
| Keyframe interval | Two seconds recommended; no more than four seconds | Set the encoder’s keyframe interval within YouTube’s stated limit. |
| Audio | AAC or MP3; 128 Kbps recommended for stereo | Check that the selected format is supported and that the game and commentary mix is intelligible. |
| Frame rate | Up to 60 fps | Use a frame rate the game PC and upload connection can sustain reliably. |
Settings are from YouTube Help’s encoder guidance, accessed in 2026; the publication year is not stated. The 6 Mbps minimum and 17 Mbps recommended bitrate apply to the listed 1080p60 H.264 mode.
Run an upload-speed test and leave headroom rather than setting the stream bitrate equal to the best speed a connection reaches in a brief test. Other devices and normal network variation can reduce available upload capacity. If the picture stutters or stream health degrades, reduce the output demand—such as by choosing a lower bitrate, resolution, or frame rate—and test again. Do not chase 1080p60 if a lower setting stays live more consistently.
Can one Elden Ring livestream run for 24 hours?
A broadcast may remain live for a long period, but do not confuse a technically continuous stream with a guaranteed uninterrupted stream or a guaranteed replay. YouTube does not promise 24/7 uptime, and its archive guidance makes streams longer than 12 hours an archive risk: a stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.

That 12-hour point is about whether YouTube captures the archive; it is not proof that YouTube always ends a stream at 12 hours. If preserving a replay matters, keep a local recording and use planned, restartable sessions rather than relying on one very long YouTube archive.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Option 1: End and restart on a schedule
Plan manageable broadcast sessions, end the event deliberately, check that the encoder and YouTube event have stopped cleanly, then start a fresh session. This creates a recovery point if the PC, game, connection, or stream needs attention and avoids treating the YouTube archive as the sole copy. Pick a schedule that leaves time for monitoring and recovery; no one interval is guaranteed to suit every channel.
Option 2: Keep output continuous and record locally
If uninterrupted output is more important than a complete YouTube replay, you can keep the broadcast going while recording a local copy. Confirm that the recording destination has enough free space for the intended session and that the computer can encode the stream and recording together. A local recording protects against a missing YouTube archive, but it does not prevent a network failure or a platform interruption.
Monitoring and restart planning
Before leaving the stream unattended, decide who or what will notice a dropped connection, a frozen game, missing audio, an encoder crash, or a YouTube warning. A human monitoring schedule or a watchdog and documented recovery procedure can reduce the time a fault goes unnoticed; neither guarantees uninterrupted service. Keep a written restart sequence for reopening the game if needed, checking OBS sources and audio, reconnecting the encoder, and confirming stream health in Live Control Room.
How can you avoid copyright and game-policy problems?
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. Its guidance says a match can trigger a warning, a placeholder replacing the stream, an interruption, or termination if the content remains or a strike occurs. Gameplay does not make every sound, image, or clip in the broadcast automatically safe.

Keep the Elden Ring footage distinct from material you add around it. Review any background music, overlays, alerts, video clips, images, or broadcast audio you did not create or license for this use. In-game music can also raise questions depending on the material and circumstances; do not assume it is automatically safe in every territory or configuration. If YouTube flags content, follow the notice in Live Control Room and remove or replace the material that caused the match rather than repeatedly restarting the same feed.
Bandai Namco Entertainment’s published gameplay-video policy permits individuals to share gameplay videos subject to that policy. It recognizes official platform revenue features such as the YouTube Partner Program and Super Chat, but also states that “Commercial use of gameplay videos is prohibited.” The policy says content whose main objective is promoting the creator’s or a third party’s products is not gameplay video under the policy; a separate policy for a specific game takes precedence if one exists.
That distinction matters if a stream includes product pitches, affiliate promotions, or sponsored segments. Keep any permitted discussion contextual rather than making the gameplay broadcast primarily an advertisement, make required disclosures, and check the current policy that applies to the game and your region before launch. YouTube’s copyright enforcement and the game publisher’s policy are separate considerations; satisfying one does not automatically satisfy the other.
Can you monetize a 24/7 Elden Ring gameplay stream?
Possibly, but continuous availability alone does not establish eligibility or approval. YouTube monetization rules apply to live streams, and the channel should make its original contribution clear through programming such as commentary, analysis, challenge structure, education, live interaction, or other meaningful creative value.
Recommended Free Tools
YouTube’s July 15, 2025 policy update renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material remains ineligible for monetization. A static gameplay loop, recycled footage, or near-identical broadcasts with little variation can therefore create a monetization risk even if you own or have permission to use the footage. There is no format that guarantees acceptance into the YouTube Partner Program.
Instead of leaving an unchanged recording on repeat, give the channel a recognizable live format. For example, rotate challenge runs, boss attempts, builds, low-level sessions, coaching, lore analysis, community goals, or scheduled commentary blocks. Make clear what viewers are getting and what you contribute, and ensure the broadcast is genuinely live if you present it as live. A useful schedule can also make it easier to plan archives, moderation, and restart windows.

What should you troubleshoot when the stream fails?
Start with the symptom and check both OBS and YouTube Live Control Room. A restart can restore output, but identify the likely cause first so the same failure does not immediately recur.
| Symptom | Likely area to check | Practical response |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not show the stream | Channel activation, event selection, stream key, or encoder connection | Confirm live streaming is enabled, select the intended event, and check that OBS is using the current key and server details from Live Control Room. |
| Video buffers or stream health degrades | Upload capacity or encoder load | Check the connection and encoder health. Lower bitrate, resolution, or frame rate, then run another private or unlisted test. |
| Game capture is blank | OBS source or capture path | Confirm the game is open and the correct Game Capture source is selected. For console gameplay, confirm the capture card is connected and selected as the video source. |
| Viewers cannot hear the game or microphone | OBS audio source, device selection, or mix | Check the relevant source and device, then test a short recording or private stream. Confirm the selected microphone is enabled only if the format uses one. |
| YouTube displays a copyright warning or replaces the picture | Third-party music, clips, images, or other matched content | Read the notice in Live Control Room, remove or replace the flagged material, and do not assume restarting without changes will resolve the match. |
| The broadcast ends or OBS stops outputting | Network interruption, computer or encoder failure, or platform action | Check YouTube’s stream health and any notices, restore the connection or encoder, then follow the documented restart procedure. Review local recording status before starting a new session. |
| The live ended but no replay appears | Stream duration and archive behavior | Do not rely on a YouTube archive for a stream exceeding 12 hours. Check for a local recording and use shorter restartable sessions when an archive is important. |
For recurring problems, log when the issue occurred, what YouTube’s health status showed, whether OBS continued encoding, and whether a local recording survived. Those details help distinguish a connection problem from a capture, audio, encoder, or policy problem without guessing at the cause.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11What does an always-on setup cost and what trade-offs matter?
A do-it-yourself PC setup requires the computer to remain available to run the game and encoder; a console setup also needs a capture path to the encoder. The actual cost depends on hardware you already own, power use, network service, storage for local recordings, and how much monitoring or redundancy you arrange. The sources here do not establish a universal hardware budget or electricity estimate, so compare your own equipment and usage rather than relying on a generic monthly figure.
There is also a practical distinction between a stream that keeps outputting and a channel that is actively programmed. A spare PC or gaming rig can avoid paying for a separate service, but it still depends on local power, network, computer stability, and someone noticing faults. Redundant hardware and monitoring can reduce some single points of failure, but add cost and setup complexity. The right approach depends on whether uninterrupted output, preserved replays, hands-on control, or low maintenance matters most.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded Elden Ring channel that needs a YouTube stream to continue without a home computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera, and it streams to YouTube only.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to keep Elden Ring open while my stream is live?
With a local OBS gameplay capture, the game and encoder need to be running to send live gameplay. A cloud playlist service can play uploaded recordings instead, but it cannot produce new gameplay or live commentary from a closed game.
Can I use my phone to watch the stream while I leave it running?
A phone can be useful for checking the public playback, but it is not a substitute for checking encoder status and YouTube’s stream-health information. Use a separate device only as an additional viewer-side check.
Will a YouTube livestream automatically become a video on my channel?
Not reliably for very long sessions. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream over 12 hours may not be captured; an independent local recording is the safer copy to keep.

No. Approval depends on YouTube’s channel and content policies, not on the number of hours a stream remains live. Repetitive or mass-produced material with little original value can be ineligible even when it is continuously available.
