How good is the battery life?
JBL rates the earbuds for up to 10 hours of music playback on a charge and up to 40 hours total when you include the case. A 10-minute charge is rated for about three hours of playback. These figures make battery endurance a major selling point, especially if you prefer charging in short intervals rather than keeping the case plugged in frequently.
The maximums are not a promise of identical runtime for every listener. JBL’s figures are published ratings, and actual playback varies with factors such as volume, codec, calls and feature use. The 40-hour total is the clearest case-included headline figure; JBL regional pages differ in the case-only runtime they display, listing 24 or 30 hours while both advertise 40 hours total. Because the regional pages do not agree on that case-only field, it is better not to treat either figure as universal.
JBL also rates talk time at up to six hours. That is a separate specification from music playback, so someone using the earbuds mainly for calls should not assume the music figure applies to long conversations.
What do the Wave Flex 2 sound like?
JBL describes the 12 mm dynamic drivers as delivering JBL Pure Bass sound. That is the manufacturer’s product positioning, not an independent measurement of frequency response or a guarantee that every listener will hear the same balance.

A December 2024 independent reviewer liked the earbuds’ endurance and multipoint but described the tuning as treble-heavy and at times harsh. That is one reviewer’s listening impression, not a controlled lab result, and it may not match your ears, music or preferred volume. The JBL Headphones app provides EQ support, giving listeners a way to adjust the sound rather than relying only on the default tuning. The available evidence does not establish how much correction each EQ setting provides or whether it will resolve a particular listener’s discomfort.
Do the JBL Wave Flex 2 have noise cancelling?
Do not choose the Wave Flex 2 expecting active noise cancellation. JBL documents Smart Ambient modes—Ambient Aware and TalkThru—rather than active noise cancelling as a listed feature.
What do Ambient Aware and TalkThru do?
Ambient Aware adjusts how much of the outside world you hear while wearing the earbuds. TalkThru is intended to make brief conversations possible without removing them. These modes are for managing awareness and interaction; they are not the same thing as electronically cancelling surrounding noise to create a quieter listening environment.
Can the Wave Flex 2 connect to two devices?
Yes. JBL regional product pages document multipoint for two devices, along with Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair. Multipoint is useful when you move between, for example, a phone and a laptop: it is designed to keep two devices connected rather than making you repeatedly pair from scratch.

The feature claim does not mean two audio streams play at once, nor does it establish exactly how every device handles switching. JBL’s documented maximum is two devices. Fast Pair and Swift Pair are supported pairing conveniences for compatible Google and Microsoft devices, respectively; they do not replace Bluetooth compatibility requirements.
Are the earbuds waterproof?
The earbuds carry an IP54 water- and dust-resistance rating, while the charging case is rated IPX2. JBL says the earbuds can be used in rainy or windy conditions. In practical terms, the earbuds’ rating is suited to sweat and light rain, but it is not a promise that they can be submerged or safely used for swimming.

How do the microphones and controls work?
JBL lists four microphones and touch controls. The available independent-review notes do not provide a measured or detailed microphone assessment, so call performance in difficult environments remains uncertain.

That is a subjective handling impression from one review, not evidence of a failure rate or a durability test. It is worth weighing if you often handle earbuds with wet hands or want a case that feels especially substantial.

Is the JBL Wave Flex 2 worth buying?
The Wave Flex 2 makes the strongest case for itself through feature breadth and its rated endurance: up to 10 hours of music per charge, up to 40 hours including the case, a three-hour playback rating from a 10-minute charge, multipoint, app EQ and ambient modes. The IP54 earbud rating also makes it more reassuring for sweat and light rain than an unrated earbud, provided you do not mistake it for submersion protection.
The key trade-offs are that there is no documented active noise cancellation, sound feedback is mixed in the one independent review cited here, and that reviewer found the case slippery and flimsy-feeling. There is no reliable cross-model lab comparison or stable global price in the available material, so whether it is a good deal depends on the current price in your market and how much you value multipoint and battery life. If noise isolation is essential, or you are especially sensitive to bright treble, compare alternatives and try the fit or sound where possible before committing.
