A larger measured capacity does not automatically mean longer operation. Tank geometry, the fill line and the selected mist rate determine how much water is usable in practice. Likewise, “under 25 W average” and “30 W claimed” are different specifications measured or reported in different contexts; neither is a published independent energy test.
How long does the KAMSTHD35BA run?
Kogan claims up to 29 hours on the low setting. That is a manufacturer maximum, not a guaranteed runtime for every room, water type or unit. Medium and high settings will use the tank faster, and a timer can stop the humidifier before the reservoir is empty.

Using the listed 3.5 L capacity and the 29-hour claim gives an average of roughly 121 mL per hour on low (3,500 mL divided by 29 hours). That is only a rough interpretation because Kogan does not publish the test conditions, and CHOICE measured 4.2 L for the tank. Do not use the arithmetic as a promise of output or as a substitute for a room-humidity measurement.
For overnight use, select low mist and the 8-hour timer, then check the tank level in the morning during the first few uses. A room that reaches a comfortable humidity sooner may need a shorter timer; a dry, larger or better-ventilated room may require a higher setting. A separate hygrometer is the safest way to avoid running any humidifier continuously without knowing the resulting humidity.
What controls and convenience features does it have?
Three mist levels
Low, medium and high let you trade moisture output against runtime. The public specifications do not provide measured output in millilitres per hour, so there is no defensible way to rank the KAMSTHD35BA against another model by mist strength alone.
Timer settings
The available 2-, 4- and 8-hour settings suit a short evening session, a work period or an overnight schedule. A timer is useful when you want a repeatable stopping point, but it does not replace the low-water safety cutoff.

The 360-degree nozzle allows the visible mist stream to be directed away from walls, electronics or furniture. Keep the outlet clear and place the unit on a level, water-resistant surface; rotating the nozzle cannot prevent condensation if the room is already humid or the mist is aimed at a cold surface.

Night light
The integrated night light is a comfort feature rather than a humidity control. It may be useful in a bedroom or nursery, but confirm that the brightness can be disabled or tolerated before relying on the unit for sleep.
Low-water automatic shutoff
The humidifier is advertised to stop when water runs out. This protects the device from operating empty, but it is still good practice to switch it off before refilling, unplug it, and dry any water around the base.
How large is it, and where can it sit?
Kogan lists dimensions of 232 × 178 × 319 mm, so the footprint is about 23.2 by 17.8 cm and the height is nearly 32 cm. That is compact enough for a bedside table, desk or shelf with adequate clearance, while the tall form means you should check overhead space before lifting the tank.

Kogan lists a 0.98 kg weight; CHOICE records 1.2 kg. Either figure excludes the water, which adds several kilograms when the reservoir is full. Place the humidifier where a full tank can be lifted safely and where a spill will not reach power boards, computers, books or unfinished wood.
How should you clean the Kogan humidifier?
CHOICE recommends descaling, cleaning and drying after each use. That is a demanding routine, but it matters because stagnant water and mineral deposits can affect mist quality, clog surfaces and increase the cleaning burden, especially in hard-water areas.
- Switch off and unplug. Do this before moving, emptying or opening the appliance.
- Empty leftover water. Do not leave a partially filled tank sitting until the next session.
- Rinse the tank with cool water. Remove any visible residue without immersing electrical components.
- Descale when deposits appear. Hard-water users should expect to do this more often. Follow the appliance’s care directions and rinse thoroughly after descaling.
- Clean the base and mist path. Wipe accessible surfaces with a soft cloth and keep water out of controls and the power connection.
- Dry completely. Leave the tank and removable parts open to air-dry before reassembly or storage.
- Refill immediately before use. Fresh water reduces the time water sits inside the machine.
The product is not documented as having a replaceable filter, and public specifications do not identify replacement filters or other service parts. Ask a seller whether parts are available before buying a used unit; the discontinued status makes that question more important than it would be for a current model.
What water can you use, and can you add essential oils?
Use cool, clean or distilled water. CHOICE specifically warns that additives such as essential or “ethereal” oils, fragrances, eucalyptus and water conditioners can damage the appliance materials. Do not treat the tank as an aroma diffuser unless the manufacturer explicitly approves that use for this exact model.

Hard tap water is usable only with more frequent cleaning, according to CHOICE. Minerals can leave scale on the tank and mist components. Distilled water can reduce mineral deposits, but it may cost more or be less convenient; the practical choice depends on local water hardness and how often you are willing to clean.
How much electricity does it use?
Kogan lists average consumption below 25 W, while CHOICE records 30 W claimed power and certification records identify a 30 W input. These are low absolute power figures, but the article cannot provide a meaningful running-cost number without your electricity tariff and the actual duty cycle.
To estimate your own cost, multiply the wattage by hours used and divide by 1,000 to get kilowatt-hours, then multiply by your tariff. For example, using 30 W for eight hours consumes 0.24 kWh before any tariff is applied. That is a calculation from the stated rating, not an independent measurement of this humidifier’s consumption.
Is the KAMSTHD35BA quiet?
There is no public dBA result in the accessible CHOICE information, and Kogan’s specifications do not state a noise level. The cool-mist design and low setting may sound unobtrusive to some users, but you should not assume it is silent or compare it with another model using marketing language alone.

CHOICE lists the model at AU$64 and marks it discontinued. Its public page gives the 4.2 L measured tank capacity, 148 cm cord, 1.2 kg weight, 30 W claimed power, China origin and cleaning guidance. The humidity, water-output, energy-efficiency and ease-of-use scores, along with noise and measured moisture output, are member-only. There is therefore no public numerical evidence to support claims about how quickly this model humidifies a room, how efficiently it runs or how loud it is.
That limitation is central to the buying decision. The KAMSTHD35BA has a clear feature list, but the performance characteristics most likely to distinguish one humidifier from another remain unverified publicly.

Is the Kogan KAMSTHD35BA discontinued, and can you still buy one?
Yes. Kogan’s own page currently shows the model as sold out, and CHOICE calls it discontinued. A used eBay Australia listing crawled in 2026 showed AU$44.99 with no returns; that is a single used-market example, not a normal new-retail price or an indication of typical condition.

When evaluating a listing, check all of the following before paying:
- The model number is exactly KAMSTHD35BA, not a visually similar humidifier.
- The tank, lid, nozzle and power cord are included and free of cracks or mineral damage.
- The seller states whether the unit has been cleaned, tested and stored dry.
- A return window exists, especially when noise and mist output cannot be verified in advance.
- The seller explains what warranty, if any, remains; Kogan’s original manufacturer warranty was one year.
- The price reflects a discontinued, possibly used appliance rather than a new current model.
Does its electrical certification remain current?
Australian certification records identify the KAMSTHD35BA as a Kogan Cool Mist Humidifier (3.5L, Blue), with 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz and 30 W input. The SAA/ERAC record shows a certification expiry date of 14 September 2025. That is historical certification information, not proof of current compliance in 2026. Confirm the present status with the seller or the relevant Australian register before buying or importing a unit.
Do not use a damaged cord, cracked tank or appliance that trips a safety switch. Because this is a mains-powered water appliance, keep the plug and socket dry and avoid extension arrangements that can be splashed.

Skip it when you need independently documented output, a current warranty, replacement filters or a guaranteed new unit. It is also a poor fit if you want to add fragrance oils, avoid regular descaling or operate an appliance without verifying its present electrical-compliance status.
What should you check during the first week?
- Inspect the tank, seals, nozzle and cord for cracks, leaks or mineral damage.
- Run it on low, medium and high while checking that mist direction changes smoothly.
- Test each 2-, 4- and 8-hour timer and confirm that low-water shutoff works.
