Can you use an iPhone 11 in the shower or pool?
Shower and bath
No. Apple advises against bathing or showering with the phone. Running water, jets, soap, shampoo, heat and steam create conditions that are different from the controlled IP68 test. Do not use it in a sauna or steam room either.

Swimming, snorkeling and deliberate underwater photos
Do not take an iPhone 11 swimming, snorkeling or deliberately submerge it for photography. Pool and seawater can enter through seals, and movement through water can add pressure beyond the test conditions. The IP68 label is not an underwater-use guarantee.
Rain and accidental spills
A brief splash or accidental drop into relatively shallow water may fall within the general type of exposure represented by the rating, but the outcome depends on the phone’s age and condition. Wipe it off promptly and do not treat the rating as permission for repeated exposure.

How long can an iPhone 11 stay underwater?
Apple’s stated laboratory limit is up to 30 minutes at a maximum depth of 2 metres. That is the only specific depth-and-time figure established for the iPhone 11. It should not be extrapolated to deeper water, longer periods, moving water or real-world environments such as a pool or ocean.

Why a used or repaired iPhone 11 may be less resistant
Apple states that splash, water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and may decrease as a result of normal wear. A phone that has been dropped can have damage that is not visible externally. Opening the phone for a repair can also affect its seals. Consequently, an older, damaged or previously opened iPhone 11 should be treated as less water-resistant than a new, undamaged unit.

IP ratings are controlled-test classifications, not predictions that two phones will survive the same real-world incident. Exposure type, impact damage and the phone’s service history all matter.

- Disconnect everything. Unplug any cable and remove accessories connected to the phone.
- Do not charge it while wet. Apple specifically warns against charging a wet iPhone.
- Dry the exterior. Wipe the phone with a soft, lint-free cloth and hold the charging port facing downward so excess liquid can drain.
- Let it dry naturally. Keep it in a dry, ventilated place and avoid heat, compressed air and inserting objects into the port.
- Check before reconnecting a cable. Do not charge until the phone and charging port are completely dry. If the phone behaves abnormally after drying, arrange an inspection or repair.
Do not deliberately test the phone by submerging it again. A water-resistant seal can fail without an obvious external sign.

Does Apple’s warranty cover water damage?
Apple’s limited warranty excludes liquid damage. Apple also notes that you may have rights under applicable consumer law, which vary by jurisdiction. A liquid-contact indicator or inspection may be used when assessing a failed device, and repair or replacement may therefore be chargeable.
