Apple has not announced a release window for Apple Vision Pro 2. A late-2028-or-2029 arrival has been reported as a possibility, but that timing comes from reporting about Apple’s plans—not an Apple launch date. The project’s status is also disputed, so there is no confirmed date to plan around.
Is Apple Vision Pro 2 officially confirmed?
No Vision Pro 2 release announcement appears in the Apple Vision Pro newsroom archive reviewed through September 2026. That archive includes Apple’s M5 Vision Pro announcement, but the absence of a successor announcement in the reviewed materials does not rule out a later announcement. Apple’s latest model in those materials is the M5-equipped Vision Pro, announced on October 15, 2025. Apple said it would be available in Apple Store locations beginning October 22, 2025. Apple’s M5 Vision Pro announcement

What is the reported release window?
A June 1, 2026 MacRumors report, summarizing Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman’s reporting, said a slimmer, cheaper successor was unlikely before late 2028 or 2029. The account described Apple as needing to address the headset’s design and cost before returning to the category. This is an attributed report about a possible roadmap, not a date Apple has promised. Is Vision Pro 2 canceled, in testing, or delayed?
Reports do not agree on the project’s status. A June 3, 2026 MacRumors article described analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s view that plans for a second Vision Pro had been removed. The same article said Gurman maintained that a Vision Pro 2 was “in testing” while the category was “on ice,” and repeated the late-2028-or-2029 outlook. Those are distinct attributed claims; they do not establish either a final cancellation or a definite launch. MacRumors’ June 3, 2026 report
Should you buy the current M5 Vision Pro or wait?
The choice depends on whether the currently announced headset suits your needs and budget, or whether you are willing to wait without a confirmed successor date or specifications.

- Consider the M5 Vision Pro if you want a headset with announced specifications and availability rather than waiting on an uncertain roadmap. Apple’s October 2025 announcement listed a U.S. starting price of $3,499 and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations. Those are announcement-era figures, not verified live prices. - Wait if you are comfortable deferring a purchase and would rather see whether Apple announces a successor. The reported late-2028-or-2029 possibility is uncertain, and successor price, specifications, and accessory compatibility have not been established.
Apple said the M5 model offers up to two and a half hours of general use or up to three hours of video playback on one charge. These are Apple’s stated figures, not independent test results. The announcement also highlighted M5, an R1 chip, visionOS 26, and a Dual Knit Band. Apple’s M5 Vision Pro announcement
What does Apple say about the M5 model?
Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Bob Borchers, said: “With the breakthrough performance of M5, the latest Apple Vision Pro delivers faster performance, sharper details throughout the system, and even more battery life, setting a new standard for what’s possible in spatial computing.” This is Apple’s marketing statement, not an independent evaluation. Do current Vision Pro accessories establish compatibility with a successor?
No. Apple listed the Dual Knit Band separately at $99 U.S. in its 2025 announcement and said it is compatible with the previous-generation Vision Pro. That statement does not establish compatibility with a future model. Apple’s announcement also does not confirm what accessories, if any, a successor would support. Apple’s M5 Vision Pro announcement
