No—not as an official announcement. Reports describe a leak-based Game Freak project nicknamed “Project Seed” that might connect several Pokémon regions, but Nintendo, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have not confirmed the project, its map, its platform or a release date. The headline claim that a four-region Pokémon game is definitely coming goes beyond the evidence currently available.
The most specific reports mention Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh, while a later version adds Kitakami. Those lists are changing rumor descriptions, not an approved specification. The confirmed 2027 Pokémon releases are Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves for Nintendo Switch 2, and their announcement does not mention Project Seed or any of those regions.

Is the four-region Pokémon game officially confirmed?
No. Project Seed is currently a leak report, not a product announced by a Pokémon company. The 26 October 2026 Pokémon Hub report associates leaked material with a possible multi-region MMORPG and says Game Freak and Nintendo had not announced it. Dork’s 18 September 2026 coverage likewise attributes the claim to Centro LEAKS and CBR while noting that The Pokémon Company, Nintendo and Game Freak had made no official announcement.
That distinction matters because an alleged development project can change, be cancelled or be misinterpreted before a company confirms it. No reviewed report establishes a final game name, approved production plan, business model, map, platform, launch date, preorder or retail product for Project Seed.

Which Pokémon regions does the Project Seed rumor mention?
The region list has changed between reports, so there is no settled answer.
- One widely repeated version: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh.
- A later version: those four regions plus Kitakami.
- Another alleged summary: Hoenn and Sinnoh.
- Broader secondary speculation: Dork reports that all nine established regions were floated as possible destinations, while stressing that the final regions remain unknown.
DocumentaryTube’s 8 October 2026 explainer tracks these changing versions and describes the four-region label as a headline description of one rumor, not a confirmed design document. The reports also do not establish how regions would connect, whether every area would be fully explorable, or whether Kitakami would appear at all.
Would Project Seed be an MMO, and when could it release?
The “MMORPG” description is itself part of the leak-based claim. No source reviewed confirms an online structure, a subscription or free-to-play model, a travel system, a supported console or a launch window.

| Question | What is established |
|---|---|
| Game name | “Project Seed” is a reporting nickname; a final title is not established. |
| Regions | Rumor versions mention two, four or four-to-five regions; no final map exists. |
| Online format | A possible multi-region MMORPG is alleged, but not confirmed. |
| Platform | Not announced. |
| Release date | Not announced; a reported 2029 date is an unverified leak claim. |
| Purchase or preorder | No confirmed retail SKU, preorder page or product listing exists. |
Until a company announcement supplies those details, a year such as 2029 should be treated as speculation rather than a schedule.
What Pokémon game already lets you visit two regions?
Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver are the clearest established precedent. Players begin in Johto, complete the Johto Pokémon League and can then return to Kanto for a second region’s story and challenges. That is a released, mainline-style two-region adventure; it does not validate the rumored online format or the Project Seed region list.
A 2014 report quoting Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda also shows why multi-region design is a recurring fan discussion. Masuda said: “If we could come up with a way to really make that interesting, then it’s something we’d implement – but for me, personally, as a theory, I think it would be more fun for us all to enjoy different locations and then share that experience together than all have the same experience in the same region.” The comment is historical context, not confirmation of Project Seed.
What Pokémon games are officially announced for 2027?
The Pokémon Company International announced Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves on 27 February 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The announcement describes an open world of windswept islands and a vast ocean with glittering waves, and names Browt, Pombon and Gecqua as starters.

That announcement does not name Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh or Kitakami, and it does not mention Project Seed. These are the confirmed upcoming games in the supplied reporting; connecting them to the leak would be speculation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why is the “first official multi-region game in decades” wording misleading?
It treats an unconfirmed leak as a finished announcement and overlooks the franchise’s existing two-region precedent. Nintendo’s 2021 historical announcement said Pokémon had traveled through eight regions during its first 25 years, but that figure describes franchise history, not a new four-region title.
A responsible reading is narrower: reports claim Game Freak may be associated with a multi-region project, and one version of that claim names four classic regions. Nothing public establishes that the project exists as a shippable game, that it will be an MMO, or that its final map will match any reported list.

What would count as real confirmation?
Look for a named announcement from The Pokémon Company, Nintendo or Game Freak that identifies the game, platform and release timing. A confirmed trailer, official product page or retailer listing would also establish that there is a purchasable product rather than a circulating leak. Until then, region lists, online features and the 2029 date should remain labeled as unverified claims.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I preorder Project Seed now?
No. There is no confirmed product page, retail SKU or preorder listing for a game under that name. Any page accepting money for it would not be supported by the announcements described in the current reports.
Are Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves the rumored multi-region MMO?
The official 2026 announcement does not connect those games with Project Seed. It identifies an islands-and-ocean setting for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027 but does not name the classic regions mentioned in the leak reports.
Could Kitakami be part of the final map?
It appears only in a later version of the rumor, alongside the four-region account. Because the reports disagree and no official map exists, Kitakami’s inclusion cannot be treated as a feature.
