The honest answer is that no verified list of “biggest problems” can be published without the review transcript, repository scope, tool and model, prompt, and proof that each finding was reproduced. AI code review is designed to flag potential bugs, security vulnerabilities, and style inconsistencies, but a reported concern is not automatically a defect. GitHub’s own documentation says, “Copilot is not guaranteed to spot all problems or issues in a pull request.” A useful account therefore separates what the reviewer reported from what a developer confirmed with code inspection, tests, linting, and security checks.
What can I actually claim about this AI review?
The available record does not identify the React repository, the files reviewed, the AI tool or model, the date, the prompt, or a complete finding log. It also contains no code excerpts, reproduction steps, test output, or human sign-off. Naming specific defects under those conditions would turn an unverified possibility into a fabricated result.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe strongest defensible conclusion is narrower: an AI review may have produced useful leads, but the underlying evidence is needed to decide which leads were real, which were false positives, and which were merely suggestions about style. A review that does not preserve its inputs and outputs cannot support claims such as “AI reviewed every file,” “AI found the most important bug,” or “the fixes were correct.”
The minimum evidence for a publishable finding
- The repository scope: branch or commit, included paths, excluded paths, and whether generated files or dependencies were included.
- The tool and model identity, review date, and any effort or analysis setting used.
- The exact prompt, repository instructions, and path-specific instructions supplied to the reviewer.
- The complete finding text, including file and line references, severity, and suggested remediation.
- A verification record: a reproducer, test result, lint or type-check output, security check, or documented human inspection.
Without those items, the responsible wording is “the reviewer raised a concern,” not “the code had a confirmed vulnerability.”

What kinds of problems is AI code review meant to find?
GitHub describes Copilot code review as able to examine code across languages and provide feedback on potential bugs, security vulnerabilities, and style inconsistencies. Those are capability categories, not a guarantee that every issue in a React project will be detected.
Potential bugs
A comment in this category identifies behavior the model believes could fail under some input, state transition, or execution path. The comment becomes actionable only after someone can show the relevant path in the actual application and reproduce the claimed failure or demonstrate it through a targeted test.
Security vulnerabilities
Security comments deserve prompt triage, but they still require confirmation. Check the data flow, trust boundary, affected route or component, and whether the alleged input is reachable in the deployed configuration. A warning about a risky pattern is not proof that an attacker can exploit the specific application.
Style inconsistencies
Style feedback can identify divergence from team conventions, but it is usually lower risk than a correctness or security issue. Repository instructions matter here: a pattern that looks unusual to a general model may be intentional in a particular codebase.
Why is an AI finding not the same as a confirmed defect?
Microsoft’s Visual Studio Code guidance warns that AI-generated code can contain bugs, security issues, and subtle logic errors. It recommends reading the output, examining edge cases and assumptions, and running tests before integration. The same discipline applies when the AI is reviewing existing code rather than generating a patch.

Models infer intent from text and context. They can misunderstand an API contract, miss a runtime condition, or flag code that is safe because of a guarantee elsewhere in the project. Conversely, they can fail to mention a real defect. Treat every comment as a hypothesis with a confidence level, not as an automated verdict.

| Question | What to record | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Is the behavior possible? | Relevant call path, inputs, state, and configuration | Reproduce, prove impossible, or mark unresolved |
| What is the impact? | User harm, data exposure, outage risk, or maintenance cost | Rank severity using the project’s policy |

| Does the fix work? | Test, lint, type-check, security result, and human review | Accept, revise, or reject the proposed change |
How does repository context change the quality of a review?
GitHub says review feedback can use full-project context and repository instructions to make comments more specific to the codebase and team conventions. Context does not make a model infallible, but it can reduce avoidable misunderstandings about architecture, naming, supported browsers, error handling, and security rules.
Project-wide and path-specific instructions
Document the conventions that apply everywhere, then add narrower rules for areas such as generated code, tests, API clients, or authentication. A reviewer that sees only a single diff may flag a deliberate abstraction or miss an invariant enforced in another module.
AGENTS.md and other project context
GitHub documents AGENTS.md project context, skills, and MCP servers as mechanisms that can inform reviews. Keep these instructions concise, current, and versioned with the code. State required checks, prohibited changes, security assumptions, and the commands that define a passing change.
Review effort settings
GitHub describes review effort levels as a trade-off: faster, more targeted analysis versus deeper analysis for complex or security-sensitive changes. Availability and labels can change with product plans and settings, so record the setting used and verify the current documentation before making a claim about access.

How should I determine which findings were the “biggest”?
“Biggest” should mean highest verified risk, not the longest AI explanation or the largest number of comments. Rank findings only after confirming that they apply to the reviewed revision and that the impact is material.
Use impact before volume
- Confirm reachability. Identify the user action, request, job, or deployment condition that reaches the code.
- Confirm consequence. Establish whether the result is incorrect behavior, data loss, unauthorized access, an outage, or a style-only inconsistency.
- Estimate exposure. Note affected users, environments, frequency, and whether a mitigation already exists.
- Verify remediation. Require a focused test or other observable check before calling the issue fixed.
- Record uncertainty. If the claim cannot be reproduced or proved from the code, label it unresolved instead of confirmed.
Separate signal from noise
A useful report preserves false positives rather than deleting them. Showing why a warning was rejected teaches readers how the codebase works and prevents the same comment from being treated as a defect in a later review. It also reveals whether repository instructions were missing or ambiguous.
What should a transparent AI-review write-up include?
A credible account lets another engineer understand exactly what the model saw and how each conclusion was reached. It should read more like an audit trail than a collection of dramatic screenshots.
1. Scope and provenance
Name the commit or pull request, paths included, date, tool and model, and review settings. State what was not reviewed. Do not claim repository-wide coverage when only a diff or selected directory was supplied.
2. Prompt and instructions
Publish the review prompt and the relevant repository or path-specific instructions. Explain whether the model had access to the full project, dependency metadata, tests, issue history, or external tools.

3. Complete findings
List every comment, not only the dramatic ones. Include the model’s wording, location, category, and proposed fix. Preserve the original severity label but do not treat it as an independently validated rating.
4. Human triage
For each comment, show the code path examined, the edge cases considered, and the decision: confirmed, false positive, duplicate, style preference, or unresolved. This is where the difference between a potential problem and a real defect becomes visible.
5. Verification evidence
Attach the test name and result, lint or type-check output, security analysis, or a concise inspection record. If no automated check exists, say what a reviewer inspected and what remains uncertain.
What should happen before an AI-suggested fix is merged?
Do not merge a generated change solely because it answers the comment. First establish that the change addresses the stated behavior without breaking an unrelated contract.
- Read the proposed diff line by line and compare it with the original finding.
- Check edge cases and assumptions identified by the reviewer, including empty, malformed, delayed, or unauthorized inputs where relevant.
- Run the project’s required tests and static checks, using the commands documented in repository instructions.
- Inspect neighboring components and shared utilities for behavior the patch may alter.
- Have a human reviewer approve the final diff, with the original AI comment and verification result attached.
If a check cannot run, record the reason and downgrade the certainty of the conclusion. “Not verified” is more useful than an implied pass.

What can this review say about React specifically?
It can say that React code is eligible for the same broad review categories—potential bugs, security concerns, and style inconsistencies—but the available evidence does not establish a React-specific defect. No verified component, hook, state transition, rendering path, or vulnerability is identified here.
That limitation is important because framework context alone does not prove a failure. A finding must be tied to the actual component or module, the application’s runtime assumptions, and a reproducible outcome. Without those artifacts, a list of supposed “biggest React problems” would be speculation.

What is the defensible bottom line?
The biggest substantiated issue is an evidence gap: there is no review transcript or verification record from which to name confirmed problems. AI review remains useful as a source of hypotheses, especially when it receives full-project context and clear repository instructions, but its comments must be tested and inspected by humans. The publishable result is therefore a documented workflow and an explicit boundary around what has not been proven—not an invented defect list.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an AI code review replace a human reviewer?
No. AI can broaden the set of issues someone considers, but it can miss defects and report false positives. A human still has to judge intent, impact, project context, and whether the proposed change is safe.
What should I save when running an AI review?
Save the commit identifier, reviewed paths, tool and model, prompt, repository instructions, settings, full comments, and verification results. Keeping these together makes later claims auditable and prevents confusion when the code changes.
How do I report a false positive without losing useful context?
Keep the original comment, then document the invariant, code path, or test that disproves it. Mark it as a false positive with the reason instead of deleting it; that record can guide better instructions in future reviews.
Should security warnings from an AI reviewer be treated as incidents?
Treat them as triage items, not confirmed incidents. Verify reachability and exploitability in the actual configuration, involve your security process when exposure is plausible, and preserve the evidence supporting the final decision.
