If Hyphen will not install, open, or let you sign in, first identify which layer is failing. A download problem is usually the iPhone App Store, Apple Account, network, storage, iOS, or a filtering app. A launch problem is usually the installed app, iOS, or an offloaded/hidden app. A login problem is usually Hyphen’s passwordless email code—not your Apple Account password and not the six-digit co-parent code.
Hyphen is the iPhone co-parenting app linked from hyphen-app.com. Use its official App Store listing (App Store ID 6774939168), then follow the matching repair path below. What is Hyphen, and which app should you install?
Hyphen is an iPhone app for co-parenting. It combines a shared calendar, secure messaging, expense tracking, document storage, requests and approvals, and a parenting journal. The vendor describes it as private and court-friendly. It is not Microsoft Word hyphenation, an Affinity dictionary, the Python PyHyphen library, or any desktop database product with a hyphenated username.
The documented installation route is the App Store button on hyphen-app.com. There is no official Android, Windows, or Mac client listed on the vendor site. Do not download an IPA or an APK from an unofficial mirror. A sideloaded package cannot solve an App Store catalog or Apple Account problem and creates an avoidable security risk.

Apple’s public catalog check on 29 October 2026 returned resultCount: 0 for App Store ID 6774939168 in the United States, United Kingdom, and France, even though Hyphen’s site still displayed the App Store button. That makes live availability, file size, version, and minimum iOS requirement unverified in those storefronts. If the official link does not resolve for you, treat that as a possible listing or regional catalog issue rather than trying a third-party download.

How do I fix Hyphen not installing or stuck downloading?
Work through these checks in order. They address the Apple-controlled installation path before you troubleshoot Hyphen’s account.
1. Start from the official App Store link
Open hyphen-app.com and tap Download on the App Store. Confirm that the page opens Apple’s listing for ID 6774939168. If App Store search shows no result, take a screenshot, note your country or region, and email Hyphen support. Do not install a random IPA or use an APK; Hyphen has no documented Android installer.
2. Check Apple service status
When App Store pages, Apple Account authentication, or downloads fail simultaneously, check Apple’s System Status page. An outage is not fixed by deleting Hyphen or changing its password. Wait for Apple’s service to recover, then retry the official listing.
3. Verify the iPhone’s internet path
Open Safari and load a normal website. If only the iPhone fails, toggle Wi‑Fi off and on, or restart the phone. If every device on the same Wi‑Fi fails, power-cycle the modem and router. On cellular data, go to Settings → Cellular and make sure cellular data is enabled for the App Store. Try a different connection—a phone hotspot, home Wi‑Fi, or cellular data—to rule out a school, work, or family filter.

Apple warns that third-party security software which monitors network connections can block internet or device connections. Temporarily disable VPN, firewall, antivirus, parental-control, content-filter, or traffic-inspection features, then restart the iPhone and retry. In Settings, search for VPN, profile, firewall, and filter. If the download still fails, remove the offending profile or app only if you understand what it controls; otherwise ask the administrator who installed it.
4. Set the date and time automatically
Go to Settings → General → Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. A clock that is significantly wrong can break the encrypted connection to Apple and later to Hyphen’s authentication service.

5. Update iOS
Open Settings → General → Software Update, then choose Download and Install if an update is offered. Keep the iPhone connected to power and Wi‑Fi. A VPN or proxy can prevent the update server from being reached, so retry after disabling that software. Updating iOS also supplies fixes for App Store and networking bugs.
6. Free device storage, not just iCloud storage
Go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage (the device name may appear instead of “iPhone”). Use Apple’s recommendations, offload unused apps, or delete apps and media you no longer need. Offloading removes the app but preserves its documents; deleting removes the app and its local data. Buying more iCloud storage does not create free space on the iPhone itself.

If Hyphen has a cloud icon after an offload, tap it to redownload. A cloud icon means the app’s local binary is absent, not that your Hyphen account has been deleted.
7. Check Apple Account and restrictions
You must be signed in to an Apple Account permitted to download apps. Screen Time restrictions can block installation or hide an app. Check Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → iTunes & App Store Purchases and allow app installation if appropriate. A country or region mismatch can also change which listings appear. Hyphen’s availability by country is not confirmed by the vendor’s public documentation, so send support your storefront and screenshot rather than guessing.
8. Reset network settings only as a last device step
If another network works but your usual Wi‑Fi does not, the network may be filtering App Store traffic. After recording Wi‑Fi passwords and VPN details, use Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings. The phone will forget saved Wi‑Fi networks and network profiles; reconnect and try the official listing again.
Why will Hyphen not open, or why does it crash immediately?
Once the app is installed, treat this as an iOS app-recovery problem. Hyphen does not publish a crash-code matrix, so use Apple’s recovery sequence and preserve evidence for support.

Restart the iPhone, then try Hyphen before opening many other apps. If Hyphen opens but cannot complete onboarding, restart the modem or router as well. A restart clears temporary processes without deleting account data.
2. Quit and reopen Hyphen correctly for your model
Use Apple’s current guide for quitting and reopening an app on iPhone. The gesture differs between iPhone models and iOS versions, so follow the selector for your device rather than applying a button combination from an older guide.

3. Check whether iOS offloaded the app
Open Settings → General → iPhone Storage and select Hyphen. If the app was offloaded, tap its icon on the Home Screen to download it again, or choose Delete App and reinstall from the official App Store link. An offloaded app can look installed while still being unable to launch because its executable is missing.
4. Update iOS and Hyphen
Install any available iOS update through Settings → General → Software Update. If the Hyphen listing is visible, open the App Store, tap your account picture, and install its update if one is offered. Keep in mind that the listing was not resolving in several Apple storefronts on 29 October 2026; an unavailable update is different from an update that fails to install.

Go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Hyphen → Delete App, restart the phone, and download Hyphen again from the official link. Deleting removes Hyphen’s local data. Cloud records associated with your Hyphen email account are account-based, but do not assume that a local-only draft or unsent item will survive deletion. After reinstalling, sign in with a fresh email one-time code.
6. Look for a hidden or locked app
iOS can hide or lock apps, and Screen Time can restrict them. Check the App Library, hidden-app area, and Screen Time app restrictions. If the icon is absent but the App Store page says the app is installed, these controls are more likely than a missing account.
7. Distinguish a child-device setup from a parent login
Hyphen’s optional location-sharing mode uses a parent-installed app on a child’s secondary phone. The parent generates a six-digit pairing code; the child device is paired with that code. It is not a second parent account login. Installing Hyphen on a child’s phone and attempting to enter the parent’s email code can therefore look like a broken sign-in flow.
How do I fix Hyphen not signing in or a login that is not working?
Hyphen sign-in is passwordless. It sends a one-time code to the email address on the Hyphen account. There is no Hyphen password to reset, and an Apple Account password will not authenticate the app.

1. Request a new email code and use the right mailbox
Enter the email address that owns the Hyphen account, request a new code, and check the inbox, spam or junk folder, promotions tab, and any quarantine folder managed by your organization. Mail delivery can be delayed; use the newest code and enter it before it expires. Keep access to that mailbox secure because it is the account’s authentication method.
“You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or legal guardian to create an account. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for the activity that takes place under it. Sign-in is passwordless, using a one-time code sent to your email address; keep access to that email secure.”

2. Check the route to Hyphen’s authentication service
The code request and subsequent sync require an internet connection to Hyphen’s hosted authentication service. Apply the network checks above: test another Wi‑Fi or cellular connection, disable a VPN or filtering profile, verify automatic date and time, and restart the phone. A VPN can allow ordinary browsing while blocking the specific route Hyphen needs.
3. Do not enter a household code in the login field
The co-parent invitation is separate. In Hyphen, the parent can use More → Co-parent to generate a six-digit household code. The other parent enters that code during onboarding or from the same screen to join the household. It does not replace the email one-time code and is not a password.
There is also a six-digit code for pairing an optional child-device location mode. That pairing code is unrelated to both the email login code and the co-parent household code.
4. Confirm age and guardian eligibility
Hyphen’s Terms require the account creator to be at least 18 and a parent or legal guardian. A teenager, an adult who is not a parent or guardian, or someone who enters an ineligible profile may see a blocked account-creation flow rather than a technical error.
5. Separate subscription access from account access
Hyphen Premium on the homepage and Hyphen Pro in the Support FAQ and Terms refer to the Apple-billed subscription tier. A lapsed subscription can remove premium features, but Hyphen does not document it as a reason that basic email sign-in should fail. Do not enter card details into a Hyphen login form.
6. Refresh a damaged authentication token
Hyphen says authentication tokens are stored in the iOS keychain. Restoring an iPhone, changing Apple Accounts, or a corrupted keychain can leave an invalid token. Hyphen publishes no keychain-reset command; the practical recovery is to delete and reinstall the app, then request a new email code. Do not promise that unsent local drafts survive this process.

Hyphen uses Supabase for its database, authentication, and file storage in the European Union. Apple Push Notification service handles notifications; RevenueCat and Apple handle subscription status and payments. An outage in Hyphen’s authentication or sync service can prevent login even when the App Store works. Hyphen does not publish a public status page, so email support is the documented escalation route.

Billing is handled by the Apple App Store account, not a Hyphen credit-card form. Hyphen’s Terms say the subscription is auto-renewable, payment is charged at confirmation, and cancellation must occur at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Any refund is handled by Apple under App Store policy.

To manage or cancel it, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on the iPhone and select Hyphen. The vendor says Hyphen does not receive full card details; Apple and RevenueCat provide subscription status. Cancelling a subscription does not delete your Hyphen account or solve an email-code problem.
How private is the account while you troubleshoot?
Hyphen’s 11 June 2026 Privacy Policy says: “We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.” It says data is stored on servers in the European Union, in Frankfurt, Germany; connections are encrypted in transit; access is protected by per-household security rules; and authentication tokens are stored in the device’s secure keychain.
The optional AI calmer-rewording feature uses Anthropic on the server and is not required for installation or sign-in. If the network is blocked, that feature may fail too, but turning it off will not repair an App Store download or an email-code delivery problem.
When should I contact Hyphen support, and what should I include?
Email [email protected]; Hyphen calls email the fastest support channel and says most questions receive a reply within one business day. There is no documented in-app live chat or public status page.
- State whether the problem is installing, opening, or signing in.
- Include the iPhone model, iOS version, country or App Store storefront, and the App Store ID 6774939168 if the listing is missing.
- Describe the exact screen, message, or button that fails and when it started.
- Attach screenshots with email addresses, household codes, and other private data redacted.
- For login problems, say whether the email code never arrived, arrived late, or was rejected.
- For billing, include the Apple subscription receipt or transaction reference, not your full card number.
The same email address is the documented route for account or data deletion. Hyphen says deletion is actioned within the legally required timeframe. Do not send a password—Hyphen uses one-time email codes instead.
What Hyphen does not currently publish
Hyphen has no official step-by-step FAQ for an app that will not install or open, no public error-code list, no TestFlight notes, and no public service-status page. It also does not publish an independently audited rating, download count, or crash-free rate. The homepage figures—50K+ families, 1M+ secure messages, 5M+ events, a 4.8 average rating, and €4.99 per month for Hyphen Premium—are vendor marketing claims from 2026, not independent measurements. The 4.8 figure could not be confirmed in Apple’s public catalog during the 29 October 2026 check.

Why is Hyphen missing from the App Store search results?
The vendor still links to App Store ID 6774939168, but Apple’s catalog lookup returned no result for the United States, United Kingdom, and France on 29 October 2026. Availability can therefore be a storefront or listing issue rather than an iPhone fault. Open the vendor’s official download link, record your country and screenshot, and ask Hyphen support to confirm availability instead of sideloading.
Can I use Hyphen without inviting my co-parent?
Yes. Hyphen says the calendar, expenses, notes, and other core tools are usable on your own. The invitation is optional and can be sent later from More → Co-parent; joining a household is separate from receiving your personal email login code.
Will deleting Hyphen erase my parenting records?
Deleting the iPhone app removes local app data, so unsent drafts should not be assumed recoverable. Records synced to the Hyphen account are associated with your email login, but you will need to reinstall and authenticate again. If a particular document or journal entry is critical, ask support to confirm its server-side status before deleting the app.
How do I cancel a Hyphen Pro or Premium trial from an iPhone?
Open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, select Hyphen, and follow Apple’s cancellation controls. The Terms require cancellation at least 24 hours before the current period ends for an automatic renewal to be avoided; Apple, not Hyphen, handles refund decisions.
Does Hyphen have an Android or desktop version?
The official site documents only the iPhone App Store app and does not list Android, Windows, or Mac clients. A web browser or an unofficial package is not a supported substitute for the iPhone installation path. Ask Hyphen support about future platform availability if you need another device.
