On a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, open the video in Gallery, tap Edit and Audio, then choose Audio eraser. Start with Auto, or lower the detected Wind or Noise level yourself; traffic is generally treated as Noise, not as a guaranteed separate control. Preview the edit against the original, then save a copy to keep your source video unchanged.
What does Samsung Audio Eraser do?
Audio Eraser is a Galaxy AI tool that analyzes a video’s soundtrack and separates recognizable types of sound so you can adjust them individually. Samsung describes it as a way to “differentiate and categorize sound types and remove noise from videos.” Available controls may include Voices, Music, Wind, Crowd, Nature, and Noise; the controls shown depend on what the tool detects.

For example, a gust of air may be recognized as Wind, while road or engine sounds will usually be handled under Noise or another detected environmental category. Samsung does not document a dedicated Traffic slider. If speech is important, keep Voices high while reducing the unwanted category and listen to the result.
How do I remove wind or traffic noise in Gallery?
Use the video editor’s Audio Eraser controls, then compare the processed preview with the untouched recording before saving. The exact labels and entry point can vary with the device and software version.

- Open the clip. Launch Gallery and select the recorded video you want to edit.
- Open the editor. Tap Edit, shown as a pencil, then tap Audio, shown as a speaker.
- Choose the tool. Tap Audio eraser. On some newer interfaces, playing the video and tapping the Galaxy AI stars icon opens the same tool.
- Try Auto or make a targeted adjustment. Tap Auto for automatic reduction. For wind, lower Wind. For traffic or other general surroundings, lower Noise; if the detected sound is labeled Crowd or Nature, adjust that category instead. Keep Voices high when you need to preserve speech.
- Listen before committing. Play the edited result, then tap Hear original to compare it with the untouched audio. Adjust the sliders again if the reduction removes too much speech or leaves the noise distracting.
- Save a separate version. Tap Apply edits, then Save copy. This leaves the original video available if you prefer it or want to try another edit.
Which control should I adjust for wind, traffic, or speech?
Use the category that best matches the sound Audio Eraser identifies; the names are categories, not guaranteed controls for every individual sound.
| Sound you want to change | Control to try | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Wind or gusts | Wind | Lower it gradually and check whether wanted speech or other ambience is also affected. |
| Traffic, engines, or general environmental sound | Noise, or the environmental category Audio Eraser identifies | There is no documented, guaranteed Traffic slider. The tool may classify a sound differently from what you expect. |
| Crowd or outdoor ambience | Crowd or Nature, if shown | Only use a category that appears for the clip; available controls depend on detection. |
| Spoken conversation | Voices | Keep it high if speech matters while reducing another category. |
| Music in the recording | Music, if shown | Adjust only if the tool detects music and you want to change its level. |
For mixed recordings, make small adjustments and listen after each one. Reducing a sound category too aggressively can make the result less natural or affect audio you wanted to keep; the preview is the practical way to judge the trade-off.

Audio Eraser is available only on selected Galaxy phones and tablets, and Samsung’s regional support pages describe different eligibility combinations. Model, Android and One UI version, region, carrier software, and account requirements can all affect whether the control appears.

Samsung’s US support guidance describes selected devices running Android 14 with One UI 6.1 or higher. A Samsung UK page describes S and Z series devices beginning with S24 on One UI 7.0 or later. These are regional guidance, not a universal compatibility list; neither description should be treated as a guarantee for every device or market.
- Install available software updates, then reopen Gallery and check the editor again.
- Look in Settings > Galaxy AI > Audio eraser to see whether the option is present on your device.
- Sign in to a Samsung account if your device or region requires one for the feature.
- If the option remains missing, check Samsung’s support information for your specific model and region or ask Samsung support. A Galaxy model name by itself does not guarantee availability.
If you are choosing a device specifically for this editing feature, confirm support for the exact model, regional/carrier software, and One UI version before buying. Samsung’s official Galaxy S25 guide demonstrates Audio Eraser on the S25 series, but that example does not establish support for every Galaxy phone.
Can I use Audio Eraser somewhere besides Gallery?
Samsung also documents Audio Eraser or related voice-focused noise reduction in Video Player, Voice Recorder, Samsung Notes recordings, and recorded calls. For YouTube full-screen playback on supported software, Samsung’s US support page describes enabling Audio erase from the Quick panel and adjusting a background-noise slider. These are separate entry points, and their labels and availability vary by device and software, so the Gallery steps above may not apply to them.

What can affect the result?
Audio Eraser’s classification is not infallible, and reduction quality depends on the recording. Samsung warns that short sounds may not be detected, ambiguous sounds may be assigned to a similar category, and accuracy is not guaranteed.
- Very brief sounds: A short gust or passing noise may not be long enough for the tool to detect reliably.
- Similar-sounding sources: The tool may put an ambiguous sound in a nearby category, so check the control labels rather than assuming the source will be identified by name.
- Previously processed audio: Audio that has already been edited, repeatedly compressed, or converted can be harder to separate.
- Unusually long clips: Samsung notes that unusually long videos can be more difficult to process effectively.
Because outcomes depend on both the source and the condition of the video, judge each edit by listening. Keep the untouched recording through Save copy so you can return to it if the result is worse for your purpose.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should I choose a Galaxy device for Audio Eraser?
Do not choose by series name alone. Verify that the exact model and its software in your region expose the Audio Eraser controls, and consider whether the phone’s recording quality and available storage suit the videos you plan to edit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Samsung Audio Eraser need an internet connection?
The Samsung support guidance described here does not establish a universal internet-connection requirement. Check the instructions for your specific device and region, especially if setup prompts appear.

Can Audio Eraser remove every sound from a video completely?
Samsung does not guarantee complete removal or a particular accuracy level. Its controls reduce detected sound categories, and the result depends on the recording and how the sound is classified.
Can I use Audio Eraser on a video I downloaded?
The documented workflow is for a video opened in Galaxy Gallery, but Samsung’s guidance summarized here does not specify every supported file source or format. If Audio Eraser appears for the clip, preview the result and save a copy rather than overwriting the only version.
