Use Muse Image through Meta AI, meta.ai, or another enabled Meta surface: describe an image in ordinary language, start from a suggested preset, or attach a reference photo. You can then refine the result in the same conversation or mark up the area you want changed. Muse Video is a separate model; Meta announced it on July 7, 2026 as an early preview that was coming to creators and Meta AI, but the cited official announcements do not confirm a later general release or a current public workflow.

What are Meta Muse Image and Muse Video?
Muse Image and Muse Video are separate media-generation models introduced by Meta. Muse Image is the image-generation and image-editing model that Meta described as available through Meta AI and selected Meta app surfaces. Muse Video was presented separately as an early preview intended for a future rollout to creators and Meta AI, not as a fully documented consumer feature. Meta’s July 7, 2026 announcement is the relevant dated reference for those descriptions: Meta’s Muse Image and Muse Video announcement.
Meta characterizes Muse Image as its most advanced image model, saying it follows instructions faithfully, edits precisely, and composes from multiple references. Those are Meta’s own product claims, not an independent guarantee that every prompt will be followed perfectly. In practice, treat the first generation as a draft and use follow-up instructions for corrections.

How do I make an image with Meta AI?
Start in a Meta AI entry point that is enabled for your account and region. The basic workflow is conversational: give Muse Image a clear request, review the result, and ask for targeted changes instead of starting a new chat.
- Open an enabled surface. Try the Meta AI app or meta.ai. Meta’s July 7 announcement also listed Instagram Stories in the United States and WhatsApp in limited countries, but availability can differ by account, product surface, and geography.
- Choose a starting point. If the interface offers suggested presets, select one to see the kinds of requests Muse Image accepts. You can also begin with a blank conversational prompt.
- Describe the scene. State the subject, setting, visual style, framing, lighting, color palette, and any text that must appear. Ordinary language is supported; you do not need a special syntax.
- Review the generation. Check faces, hands, signs, logos, object counts, and text separately. If something is wrong, identify the exact defect in your next message.
- Refine in the same conversation. Ask for one or two changes at a time, such as changing the jacket color while keeping the pose and background. The conversation retains context, so you can iterate without rebuilding the entire request.

How should I write a Muse Image prompt?
Describe the visual result rather than naming a vague goal such as “make it better.” A reliable prompt usually answers six questions:
- What is shown? Name the people, objects, number of subjects, and action.
- Where is it? Add the environment, time of day, and weather.
- What should it look like? Specify medium or style, lens-like framing, palette, and lighting.
- What must remain unchanged? For an edit, identify the face, pose, clothing, product shape, or background that should be preserved.
- What should be excluded? Mention unwanted objects, extra fingers, duplicate subjects, cropped edges, or illegible text.
- What format is needed? State portrait, landscape, or square composition and leave room for any layout requirement.
When a result is close, avoid replacing the full prompt with a completely different request. Say, for example, “Keep the same composition and lighting; replace the paper cup in the left hand with a stainless-steel bottle.” That gives the model a stable reference and a narrow change.
Can I edit an existing photo with Muse Image?
Yes. Meta describes one model handling both generation and editing, with optional reference images. Upload or provide the photo through an enabled Meta AI surface, then state the change you want while identifying details that must stay intact.

- Attach the source photo. Use an image you have the right to edit and share with the service.
- Describe the edit and the preservation rules. For example: “Remove the street sign behind the couple, reconstruct the wall naturally, and keep both faces, clothing, and the evening lighting unchanged.”
- Inspect boundaries. Look along hair, fingers, glasses, patterned fabric, reflections, and straight architectural lines. These areas often reveal an edit that needs another pass.
- Make a focused follow-up request. Ask for a correction to the specific area rather than asking for a general regeneration.
Muse Image can also compose from multiple references, according to Meta. Identify each reference by role—such as “use the first image for the room layout and the second for the chair fabric”—so the model has a clear instruction about what to borrow from each source.
How do I mark up an area for a precise edit?
When the markup control is available, circle, sketch, or annotate the part of the image that needs attention before describing the change. This gives Muse Image both a visual location and a textual instruction.
- Generate or open the image you want to change.
- Select the markup or annotation control.
- Circle the object, draw over the region, or add a short visual note.
- Write the requested change and state what the model should preserve.
- Check the transition between the marked area and its surroundings, then continue refining in the same conversation if necessary.
Markup is especially useful for localized changes such as replacing a sign, recoloring one garment, removing a background object, or extending a cropped edge. It does not turn an imprecise instruction into a guaranteed pixel-level edit; review the whole frame after each generation.
Can Muse Image redesign a room?
Meta used room redesign as an example workflow: provide a room photo and products found on the web or Facebook Marketplace, then visualize those items in the space. The example appears in Meta’s July 2026 Muse Image announcement. Treat it as an announced feature example rather than a promise that every country, account, or app surface currently exposes the same product-search or Marketplace flow.
For a practical room prompt, identify the fixed elements first: “Keep the windows, flooring, and camera angle unchanged.” Then describe the replacement furniture, material, color, scale, and placement. Ask for one design change at a time if you need to preserve accurate proportions.
Is Muse Video available yet?
Meta’s July 7, 2026 announcement described Muse Video as an early preview and said it was coming soon to creators and Meta AI. The official material cited here does not confirm a later general release, supported countries, output length, interface, or current access route. Therefore, there are no responsible step-by-step Muse Video instructions to give until Meta publishes a current workflow.

Meta said the preview focused on prompt adherence, visual fidelity, and temporal consistency. It also identified audio-video synchronization and physically accurate fast motion as areas still being developed. Those comments describe the model’s development goals, not a promise about a production feature you can access today.
If a video option appears in your account, verify that it is an official Meta surface and read the on-screen limits before creating a project. Do not infer that an image prompt, image duration, audio setting, or creator-only entitlement carries over to Muse Video.

Use the consumer route for occasional creation and conversational experimentation. Use the developer route when you are building an application, need a repeatable integration, or want to manage image operations in your own software. Meta’s developer documentation describes Muse Image through the Responses API for conversational, multi-turn editing, plus image-generation and image-edit endpoints for single-shot operations: Meta Model API image-generation documentation.

An API integration does not automatically grant access to every consumer feature. Plan for authentication, request handling, image storage, error handling, and the terms that apply to your developer account. Is Meta Muse free?
Meta’s July 2026 consumer announcement said Muse Image was free for everyday creation, with Meta subscription plans available for people who wanted to create more. It did not establish a current subscription price, quota, or universal usage limit. Check the plan terms shown for your account before assuming that a particular number of generations is included: Meta’s consumer announcement and access information.
Do not transfer consumer pricing assumptions to the API. Developer usage can follow separate account, product, and billing terms, and the cited announcement does not provide an API price list.

Where can I access Muse Image?
Meta announced Muse Image availability in the Meta AI app and on meta.ai, with Instagram Stories in the United States and WhatsApp in limited countries listed as additional surfaces on July 7, 2026. That announcement is a dated snapshot, not a country-by-country guarantee for October 2026.
- Sign in to the Meta account you normally use on the chosen surface.
- Look for the Meta AI image-creation option or a Muse Image label.
- If it is missing, update the app, confirm that your account is in an eligible region, and check Meta’s current product notice rather than changing unrelated settings.
- Do not assume that access on one surface means access on another; staged rollouts can differ between the web, app, Stories, and WhatsApp.
Regional availability can also change after an announcement. A missing control is usually an availability or rollout issue, not evidence that your prompt is malformed.

The subject or object is missing
Restate the object, its position, and its count: “Show exactly two bicycles, both fully visible, leaning against the right wall.” Remove competing descriptions that could be interpreted as optional.

Name the elements to lock: “Change only the wall color; preserve the people, furniture, camera angle, shadows, and crop.” If markup is available, mark only the wall.
Text in the image is unreadable
Ask for a simple, short phrase and reserve clear space for it. Treat generated lettering as a visual approximation and check every character before using the image in a finished design.

Faces, hands, or repeated objects look distorted
Request a focused correction and keep the rest of the scene unchanged. A new generation may alter unrelated details, so compare the entire image after each pass.
The reference image is not being followed
Explain what each reference contributes and what should not change. For multiple references, assign them explicit roles instead of uploading several images without instructions.

What privacy and feature changes should I know about?
Meta removed the ability to generate images by referencing public Instagram accounts after user feedback. Do not instruct Muse Image to use an @-mention as a supported workflow; use an image you can provide directly and describe the intended edit instead. Meta records that change in its product announcement.
Before uploading a photo, consider whether it contains another person’s face, a private location, documents, license plates, or confidential work. The fact that an image can be attached does not give you permission to share it. For business use, review the current account terms and your organization’s data-handling policy before sending source images or generated content through a consumer chat.
How was Muse Image ranked?
