ChatGPT Slides lets eligible Pro, Business, and Enterprise users with Space access create an editable presentation from a prompt, edit individual slide elements, collaborate with teammates, present from ChatGPT, and export the finished deck. The feature is still rolling out, so an eligible plan does not guarantee that Slides is visible on your account.
Start either in ChatGPT Work, where you can describe the audience, attach source material, and request a deck, or in Space by choosing Create > Slide. After generation, inspect every claim, figure, layout, and exported file before you share or present it.

What is ChatGPT Slides, and who can use it?
ChatGPT Slides is an editable presentation workspace connected to ChatGPT and Space. It can generate slides from instructions and source files, then let you change text, images, shapes, tables, and charts instead of treating the first output as a finished, locked file.
OpenAI’s Help Center describes access for ChatGPT Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans with Space access. The rollout is gradual, and workspace administrators can affect whether Space and sharing are enabled. OpenAI’s October 16, 2026 release note says: “Slides is rolling out to eligible Pro, Business, and Enterprise users with Space access on the web and in the desktop app.” See the ChatGPT release notes and the Slides help guide for the current rollout wording.
#1 Best Overall
- Presenter mode, built-in Class 2 red laser pointer for presentations, intuitive touch-keys for easy slideshow control. AAA batteries required (best with Polaroid AAA batteries)
- Bright red laser light - Easy to see against most backgrounds, works as a pointer clicker for presentation and clicker for powerpoint presentations
- Up to 50-foot wireless range for freedom to move around the room
- There's no software to install. Just plug the receiver into a USB port to begin. This power point clicker wireless solution makes presentations easy, and you can store the receiver in the presentation remote after use.
- 2.4GHz RF wireless technology, built-in docking bay stores receiver for easy pack up and portability; works well as a presenter clicker wireless or computer clicker for presentations.
If you do not see Slides, that is not proof that your plan is unsupported. OpenAI’s guide cautions, “If you don’t see it yet, it may not be available for your account.” Check the account, Space, workspace, and device conditions described later in this article.
How do I create a presentation in ChatGPT Work?
Use Work when you already have a conversation, notes, source files, or a detailed brief. Ask for a slide, presentation, or deck, and identify the audience and material to cover. ChatGPT can return an editable presentation that you can open in Space for continued work.
- Open ChatGPT Work. Start a new conversation or continue an existing one that contains the context for the presentation.
- Define the outcome. State the topic, audience, purpose, approximate scope, and what the audience should understand or do after the presentation.
- Add source material. Attach the documents, data, notes, or other files that the deck should use. Tell ChatGPT which source is authoritative when files disagree.
- Describe the slide structure. Name the sections and slide types you need, such as an executive summary, timeline, comparison, process, chart, or recommendation.
- Set visual and content constraints. Specify tone, branding, colors, aspect ratio if relevant to your workflow, reading level, required terminology, and anything that must remain unchanged.
- Request the presentation. Ask for an editable deck and, for a complex project, ask ChatGPT to propose an outline before it performs extensive slide work.
- Open the result in Space. Use Space for element-level editing, shared work, comments, presenting, and the web export options.
A prompt that gives ChatGPT decisions to make, rather than only a topic, usually produces a more usable first draft. For example:
Create an editable presentation for a 15-minute briefing to a city-planning team about a proposed bus-lane pilot. Use the attached ridership report as the source of all figures. Include an executive summary, current-state problem, pilot design, map or route visual, measurement plan, risks, and decision slide. Use a restrained public-sector style with high-contrast text. Keep the report’s terminology and all numbers unchanged. First show me the slide outline and note any missing evidence; then create the deck for continued editing in Space.
The request identifies the audience, duration, source authority, required sections, visual direction, preservation rules, and review point. Those details give you specific things to check when the deck is generated.
How do I start a deck directly in Space?
Space is the direct creation route when you want to begin with a blank slide or a built-in template rather than a pre-existing Work conversation.
- Open the relevant Space in ChatGPT.
- Choose Create > Slide.
- Select a blank slide or a template.
- Describe the topic, audience, purpose, slide sequence, and style in the creation prompt.
- Add source files or a reference deck when the interface allows it, and state what the new presentation should match and what it should change.
- Review the generated slides, then continue editing in Space or invite teammates with edit access.
Use the Space route when the work belongs in a shared team area from the start. Use Work when the strongest context is already in a conversation or in a set of attached files; the two routes can converge because a Work-created presentation can be opened in Space.

Define the audience and decision
Name who will see the deck and what they need from it. A board update, classroom lesson, sales briefing, and technical handoff require different amounts of context, vocabulary, evidence, and visual emphasis. State whether the deck should inform, obtain approval, teach a procedure, or compare options.
Supply evidence and identify authority
Attach the files or paste the notes that contain the facts. Say which file controls figures, dates, terminology, or quotations. If the material does not support a requested claim, ask ChatGPT to flag the gap instead of filling it with an assumption.
Specify slide types and sequence
List the sections or individual slide jobs. For example, request a one-slide summary, a two-step process diagram, a table of options, a chart based on supplied data, and a final decision slide. Naming the job of each slide makes later edits easier because you can refer to a concrete purpose rather than a vague instruction such as “make it better.”

Provide an example deck or reference file when you need a visual direction. Explain whether ChatGPT should match its layout, typography, color treatment, branding, or slide order, and separately list the things it may change. OpenAI’s Work guidance recommends naming the output format and destination and identifying elements that must stay unchanged.
Ask for a plan before broad edits
For a long deck or a major redesign, request an outline or edit plan first. The plan gives you a chance to correct the structure before ChatGPT spends effort changing many slides. Once the plan is acceptable, authorize the detailed generation or editing pass.
How do I edit a specific slide or element?
You can edit text, images, shapes, tables, and charts directly, or select an element and ask ChatGPT for a targeted change. The targeted method is useful when one object needs a precise revision without turning a local fix into a deck-wide rewrite.
Select an element and choose Request edits
- Open the presentation in Space.
- Select the text box, image, shape, table, or chart you want to change.
- Choose Request edits.
- Describe the desired result, the information to use, and any formatting or content that must remain unchanged.
- Inspect the returned change in context, including nearby alignment, labels, and page balance.
Concrete requests are easier to verify than general ones. Examples include “shorten this paragraph to three bullets while preserving the legal meaning,” “update this chart with the attached figures and keep the existing axis labels,” or “move the legend below the chart and leave the title and colors unchanged.”

- The brilliant green laser pointer is powerful and easy to see, even on LCD and plasma displays and in brightly lit rooms.
- The LCD display with timer lets you manage your time with silent, vibrating alerts and controls that are easy to set and adjust–-you’ll focus on your presentation, not the clock.
- With a range of up to 100 feet (30 meters), you can enjoy the freedom to move around the room and mingle with your audience for greater impact. A reception-level indicator ensures you don’t wander too far.
- The intuitive slideshow controls help you navigate through your presentation with confidence. Buttons are easy to find by touch. The smooth contours feel great in your hand. You’ll be in control from the first slide to the last.
- A storable plug-and-play wireless receiver makes it simple to get started—just plug the receiver into a USB port and use it right away. There’s no software to install. When you’re through, the receiver stores inside the presenter to make packing up easy.
Use the prompt bar for changes across the deck
For a repeated or global change, use the presentation’s prompt bar. You might ask for consistent terminology, a shorter version of every slide title, or a revised layout across a section. Identify the exact scope, then list the elements ChatGPT must preserve. If the change affects many slides, ask for a plan first and review a sample or outline before approving the full pass.
Check the edit rather than accepting it blindly
After every substantial edit, verify that numbers, chart scales, labels, citations, and speaker-facing meaning have not changed unintentionally. A layout request can alter line breaks or hide text, and a data update can change a conclusion if the underlying units or date range are misunderstood.
How can I collaborate with teammates in Space?
Share the presentation with teammates and give the people who need to change it edit access. Editors can work on the same deck at the same time, discuss changes through shared comments, and mention collaborators.
The current Slides guide does not document comment-only access as available at launch. If someone must review without editing, confirm what permissions your workspace currently offers before sending the link; do not assume that a comment-only role is present.

For a smoother handoff, agree on who owns factual review, visual review, and final approval. Put those responsibilities in the deck’s comments or in the accompanying Work conversation, and use targeted element requests when a reviewer wants a specific correction.
How do I present or export my deck?
You can present the deck directly from ChatGPT, or move it into another presentation application. On the web, Slides can export to PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides. In the desktop app, a deck can be opened in PowerPoint or Keynote when those applications are installed.
- Finish the content review. Check slide text, figures, chart labels, and the order of the argument in Space.
- Present in ChatGPT. Use the presentation’s present action when you want to deliver it without first moving it to another application.
- Choose a web export when needed. On the web, select the destination format: PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides.
- Use the desktop handoff when appropriate. On the desktop app, open the deck in an installed PowerPoint or Keynote application.
- Inspect the exported or opened file. Compare the output with the editable deck, checking fonts, line wrapping, chart placement, images, hyperlinks, and page breaks before sharing it externally.
Export is a format change, not a substitute for review. A deck that looks correct in Space can still need adjustments after it is opened in another application or converted to PDF.

Why can’t I see the Slides tool?
Availability depends on more than the plan name. Work through these checks in order:
- Confirm the plan. The documented rollout targets eligible Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts.
- Confirm Space access. Slides is tied to Space, and workspace configuration can control whether Space and sharing features are enabled.
- Allow for the gradual rollout. OpenAI says the feature may not yet be available for your account even when the plan is eligible.
- Try the supported surfaces. Slides is rolling out on the web and in the desktop app. Sign in to the same eligible account when switching surfaces.
- Check Windows desktop requirements. On Windows devices without the required MXC component, local AI slide creation and editing in the desktop app use PowerPoint (.pptx) files instead of collaborative Slides. Windows 10 does not support that component. Windows 11 users may need an update or an organization-level setting enabled.
- Use cloud mode or the web when needed. The guide recommends cloud mode or ChatGPT on the web for collaborative Slides when the Windows desktop configuration cannot use the required component.
For Space-specific setup and access details, consult OpenAI’s Space guide. For the feature workflow and device notes, see Creating and collaborating on slides in ChatGPT.
What is the difference between creating in Work and creating in Space?
Both routes can lead to an editable deck, but they start with different kinds of context. Choose the path that matches where your source material and collaborators already are.
| Entry point | Best starting material | How you begin | Where the work can continue |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Work | An existing conversation, instructions, notes, or attached source files | Ask for a slide, presentation, or deck and describe the audience and material | Open the editable result in Space for continued editing and collaboration |
| Space | A new presentation that should begin as a blank slide or template | Choose Create > Slide, then select blank or template | Continue editing, sharing, presenting, or exporting within the Space workflow |
If you have an established visual reference, include it and distinguish the features to match from the features to change. If you have a research-heavy brief, starting in Work lets you keep the source discussion and attachments alongside the creation request.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should I review before sharing or presenting?
Make the review a deliberate handoff step, not a quick glance at the title slide. OpenAI’s presentation guidance recommends checking the completed file before sharing or relying on it.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Content: Confirm that every claim is supported by the supplied material, terminology is consistent, and no generated text implies evidence that was not provided.
- Numbers and figures: Recalculate or trace totals, units, dates, percentages, and chart labels to the authoritative source.
- Structure: Check that each slide has one understandable job, the sequence answers the audience’s questions, and the conclusion follows from the evidence.
- Layout: Look for clipped text, unreadable type, collisions, uneven spacing, misplaced legends, distorted images, and elements that moved during an edit.
- Accessibility and delivery: Check contrast and reading order, then view the deck in the environment in which you will present it.
- Export fidelity: Open the PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides result and inspect it independently. Confirm that the exported file contains the intended slides and that formatting survived conversion.
- Approval: Give the designated factual and visual reviewers a final opportunity to comment before the deck is used publicly or for a consequential decision.
What limitations should I expect?
Slides is designed to accelerate creation and editing, not to guarantee perfect design or factual accuracy. Generated presentations and edits can require human correction, and the official guidance specifically recommends reviewing content and layout before relying on a file. A reference deck can communicate a direction, but you should not assume exact template fidelity across every element.
Access is also conditional. The feature may be absent during the gradual rollout, restricted by Space or workspace settings, or affected by the Windows desktop configuration described above. When collaboration is essential, confirm that the deck is in a Space with the appropriate sharing permissions rather than assuming that a local desktop file provides the same shared workflow.

Finally, treat every export as a new verification point. Presenting from ChatGPT, opening a deck in PowerPoint or Keynote, and exporting to PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides are separate delivery paths; the visual and content checks should happen on the path you will actually use.
How can I make a large editing request safer?
Break a broad redesign into reviewable stages. First ask for a change plan that names the affected slides and the elements to preserve. Next approve a small representative set or an outline, then request the full edit. This gives you a clear comparison point if a deck-wide instruction changes more than intended.
Use narrow nouns and verbs in the request: identify the slide number or title, the selected object, the source of replacement data, the permitted visual change, and the items that must stay untouched. After the edit, inspect both the selected object and the surrounding slide because alignment, wrapping, and chart dimensions can change even when the prompt names only one element.
Which workflow should I use for a reference deck?
Start in Work when the reference deck is part of a broader brief or conversation. Attach the example, explain what should match, and list what must change; then open the editable result in Space. Start in Space when you want to choose a blank slide or template first and build the new presentation inside a shared workspace.
In either case, describe the reference as a set of constraints rather than asking for an unexplained copy. State the required slide order, branding rules, data sources, and audience, then verify the resulting layout and text instead of assuming that visual similarity means the content is correct.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does ChatGPT Slides have a country-by-country availability list?
The current help material describes eligibility by Pro, Business, or Enterprise plan, Space access, workspace configuration, and rollout status rather than publishing a country list. If the feature is missing, check those account and workspace conditions instead of assuming that your location alone determines access.
What happens if two teammates change the same deck at once?
The Slides guide says people with edit access can make changes at the same time and discuss them through shared comments. It does not specify a conflict-resolution policy for simultaneous edits to the identical object, so teams should use comments and an agreed review owner for sensitive changes.
Can I use ChatGPT Slides without a presentation monitor, clicker, or other hardware?
The documented workflow is digital: creation and editing happen in ChatGPT and Space, and delivery uses ChatGPT or digital exports. The feature documentation does not establish any special presentation hardware as required.
Does a reference deck guarantee an identical template?
No. A reference file can communicate the style and structure you want, but the guidance recommends reviewing the generated content and layout. Treat the reference as design direction and verify every slide rather than expecting exact fidelity.
