In a loud street, aircraft cabin or gym, outside sound can mask detail that sealed earbuds would make easier to hear.

How do I set up AI glasses for music, calls and podcasts?
Use this order so Bluetooth, account permissions and audio services are established before you troubleshoot playback.
- Charge both pieces. Charge the glasses and their case. A low battery can cause pairing failures or make audio stop shortly after connection.
- Install the companion app. For Ray-Ban Meta, install the Meta AI app, sign in and allow the phone permissions it requests for Bluetooth, calls, notifications and microphone access.
- Pair the glasses. Turn on Bluetooth on the phone, open the app’s device setup, put the glasses in pairing mode as directed and complete the on-screen prompts. Keep the glasses close to the phone during first pairing.
- Connect audio services. In Meta AI settings, connect supported services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music or Calm. For Audible, approve the handoff in the Audible app after starting the connection in Meta AI.
- Test one short track or episode. Start playback with the phone, then pause and resume from the glasses. Confirm that the phone’s call-audio output also lists the glasses before making an important call.
- Set up calling providers. Connect the phone’s configured calling account and, where offered, Messenger or WhatsApp in Meta AI. Enable voice controls if you want to answer or place calls hands-free.
When you close Ray-Ban Meta glasses, streaming pauses. Reopening them reconnects to the audio source over Bluetooth, which is useful when moving between conversations and listening without manually restarting the app.

What are the touch and voice controls for playback?
On Ray-Ban Meta, the general right-temple map is simple: one tap pauses or resumes, two taps skips forward, three taps skips back, a forward swipe raises volume and a backward swipe lowers it. The exact response can depend on the app and firmware, so verify the control prompt in the companion app after an update.

Can AI glasses take phone calls without earbuds?
Yes. Once the glasses are paired, calls from the phone’s configured provider can use the glasses’ speakers and microphone. Ray-Ban Meta also documents connections for Messenger and WhatsApp through Meta AI, but the available provider list and controls can vary by phone operating system, app version and country.
How to make and answer a call
- Confirm Bluetooth is connected and that the glasses are selected for call audio on the phone.
- Open Meta AI settings and connect the calling provider you use, such as the phone dialer, Messenger or WhatsApp.
- Enable voice controls if you want to say a contact’s name or answer hands-free.
- For a normal call, use the phone’s call screen as usual; the glasses act as the speaker and microphone.
- After answering, adjust volume with the temple swipe or phone controls and pause nearby media if necessary.
What if callers say I sound muffled or quiet?
Use the official microphone-adjustment troubleshooting flow in the companion app before deleting the Bluetooth pairing. Check that the microphone openings are not covered by hair, a helmet strap, case material or dirt, and move away from strong wind. Re-pairing without correcting the physical obstruction often leaves the underlying problem unchanged.

Can Ray-Ban Meta glasses play podcasts and Audible?
They can route spoken audio from phone apps just as they route music. Any podcast app that can play on the phone can generally send its audio to the glasses over Bluetooth, but native voice search depends on the service integration rather than on Bluetooth itself.
Podcasts
Start a podcast in the phone’s podcast app, then use the glasses for pause, resume, skipping and volume where the app accepts those controls. If a voice request cannot find a show, search in the phone app first; the glasses may still play the result once it is selected.
Audible
Audible’s documented integration supports hands-free play, pause, bookmarking and title search for accessible Audible content. Connect Audible through Meta AI settings, approve the handoff in Audible, and then use the supported voice or touch controls. Audible explicitly says podcast searching is not currently supported, so do not assume that its title-search command can search every podcast catalogue.

Connect Spotify in Meta AI settings, then start playback from the phone or a voice command. Ray-Ban’s documented controls include tap, double-tap, triple-tap, swipes and voice commands for play, pause, skipping and volume changes.
A separate Spotify experience announced by Meta can choose music to match what the glasses are viewing. That visual-context feature has English and country restrictions, so its availability is narrower than ordinary Spotify playback; check the current Meta AI release notes and in-app options for your location.
Which music services work, and what restrictions matter?
Ray-Ban documents app connection plus touch and voice playback for Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Calm. Service support does not mean every subscription tier or catalogue action is available through voice.

If a service is missing from the companion app, use ordinary Bluetooth playback from the phone where supported. You will usually retain basic play and volume control, but service-specific voice search or bookmarking may not be available.

How much battery do AI glasses provide?
Meta’s September 2026 announcement lists Ray-Ban Meta Audio at up to 12 hours on a single charge, with up to an additional 48 hours from the included charging case. These are manufacturer “up to” figures, not a standardized test result. Listening volume, call duration, AI use, temperature and firmware can all reduce actual runtime.
For a full day away from a wall outlet, put the glasses in the case during breaks rather than leaving them powered on. Heavy callers should plan more conservatively than someone listening intermittently, because microphones, wireless links and voice processing add to consumption.

IPX4 is splash resistance, not a promise that the glasses can survive a shower, pool or heavy rain. If you need prescription lenses, confirm the exact frame’s prescription range and local optical availability rather than assuming every smart-glasses configuration supports it.

Use the glasses as visible connected devices, not as covert recorders. Meta says a capture LED signals when content is being captured, and its product material describes use for music and podcasts, hands-free photos and video, and access to an AI assistant.
- Tell people when a call or recording is active, especially in a private conversation.
- Watch the notification and capture indicators and stop recording in places where it is prohibited.
- Follow local consent laws, workplace rules, school policies and venue restrictions; these can require permission from other people.
- Remember that voice processing and call indicators are documented in the companion-app experience, so review those settings instead of assuming the glasses are always passive.
Open-ear playback can be less disruptive than covering both ears, but it does not make loud listening harmless. Keep volume low enough to remain aware of your surroundings and take breaks during long sessions. The available product pages do not publish standardized sound-leakage or hearing-risk measurements, so no precise safe-volume claim can be made from them.
Why is audio not working, and how can I fix it?
The glasses connect but sound comes from the phone
- Open the phone’s Bluetooth or audio-output picker and select the glasses for media.
- Confirm the media volume is raised on both the phone and glasses.
- Close and reopen the companion app, then test a short track.
- Check that another Bluetooth headset has not automatically taken the audio route.
Playback stops when I remove the glasses
That is expected behavior on Ray-Ban Meta: closing the glasses pauses streaming. Reopen them to reconnect, or restart playback from the phone if the app does not resume automatically.

Voice commands work for music but not podcasts
The podcast app may not expose native search to the glasses. Search and select the show on the phone, then use the glasses for transport controls; Audible’s current documentation specifically excludes podcast searching.
Calls are quiet, distorted or muffled
- Run the companion app’s official microphone-adjustment flow.
- Inspect and clean the microphone openings without blocking them with a case or accessory.
- Move out of wind and test with a short call.
- Only then remove the Bluetooth pairing and complete setup again.
A service or command is unavailable
Confirm that the app is connected in Meta AI, that you are signed in to the required subscription, and that the phone language and country are supported. Feature rollouts can change, so update the companion app and firmware before treating an absent option as a hardware fault.
Are AI glasses a practical replacement for headphones?
They are practical when you want music, calls or spoken audio while keeping your ears open and your hands free. They are less suitable when you need strong isolation, maximum bass detail, guaranteed privacy in a loud room or a microphone optimized for severe wind. The best fit is an open-ear listening routine: pair once, connect the services you actually use, keep volume moderate, and use the case to extend the day.
