Specific skills can make a general AI model substantially more useful for cybersecurity, but they do not turn it into an unsupervised penetration tester. A skill is a detailed instruction document that tells an agent which tools to use, what sequence to follow, how to interpret evidence, and when to stop for approval. The safest upgrade is therefore a controlled workflow: choose a skill matched to an authorized target, inspect it for malicious instructions, run it with least-privilege access, require confirmation for changes, and have a human verify every finding.
Published examples range from bug-bounty orchestration and Active Directory assessment to passive industrial-control analysis and scientific data work. Their reported repository sizes and capabilities are useful indicators, not independent audit results; they can change as maintainers update the files.

What does a cybersecurity skill add to a general AI model?
A general model knows security concepts, but it does not automatically follow a repeatable engagement methodology. A skill supplies the missing operating procedure. It can define the reconnaissance order, required evidence, tool syntax, severity logic, reporting format, and conditions that require a human decision.
This matters because the same model can produce different answers on separate runs. As Hackers Arise author Co11ateral observed, “Sometimes you might run the same model twice and get different results.” Explicit instructions reduce that variance by giving the agent a stable checklist and a consistent interpretation policy.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A skill is not a new set of model weights. It is closer to a playbook loaded into an agent’s context, sometimes with scripts, parsers, or tool adapters. The model still supplies reasoning; the skill supplies domain-specific constraints and process.
- Coverage: the skill enumerates assets, attack paths, protocols, or test cases that a generic prompt might omit.
- Evidence handling: it specifies what output, packet, log, screenshot, or reproduction is required before calling something a finding.
- Safety: it can prohibit destructive actions, prefer read-only collection, and pause before a network-changing command.
- Reporting: it can map observations to standards such as NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, DORA, NIS2, ENS, or IEC 62443.
The result is better process discipline, not guaranteed truth. A skilled operator must still validate scope, inspect commands, reproduce issues, and reject unsupported conclusions.

Use the following sequence for any repository or private playbook. The exact import screen differs among OpenCode, Codex, Hermes Agents, and other agent hosts, so treat the skill’s installation instructions as implementation details rather than universal commands.
- Define written authorization. Record the owner, in-scope domains or IP ranges, testing window, prohibited techniques, data-handling rules, and an emergency contact. Do not load a skill against a target merely because it is publicly reachable.
- Pin the source and version. Save the repository commit, file hashes, author, and date. A skill is executable guidance in practice: it may instruct an agent to run commands, upload data, or call external services.
- Inspect the text and attachments. Look for hidden instructions, encoded payloads, credential requests, arbitrary downloads, attempts to override system policies, or instructions to conceal activity. NVIDIA’s SkillSpector is designed to help analyze skills for malicious content; use it before granting tool access.
- Start in a sandbox. Give the agent a disposable workspace, synthetic credentials, and a network policy that blocks unapproved destinations. Begin with read-only files and captures. Log every tool call and preserve the model’s intermediate reasoning where your organization’s policy permits.
- Set permissions by task. Separate discovery, analysis, and remediation credentials. A bug-bounty workflow may need HTTP clients and code analysis, while an ICS workflow should begin with packet files rather than live write access.
- Require confirmation gates. Make approval mandatory before exploiting a suspected issue, changing an account, writing to a device, modifying a firewall rule, sending a high-volume scan, or transmitting sensitive data.
- Validate findings manually. Re-run the relevant test with an independent tool or analyst, confirm impact and scope, and remove duplicates. Store the original evidence with timestamps so a report can be audited.
- Review and retire. After the engagement, examine false positives, missed cases, tool errors, and unexpected network activity. Update or disable the skill when its dependencies, target environment, or threat model changes.
Which cybersecurity skill bundles cover the main use cases?
The following comparison uses capabilities reported by Hackers Arise in 2026. Counts describe the cited projects at that time, not a guarantee that every file remains available or works unchanged.
| Bundle | Primary target | Reported scope or mechanism | Safety or reporting feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bountyforge | Web and bug-bounty targets | One skill delegates work to eight mini-agents and applies four tests to each finding | Structured cross-checking before a finding is accepted |
| Claude-BugHunter | Bug-bounty research | 83 skills; almost half reportedly derived from studying 681 paid HackerOne reports | Evidence-based coverage; still requires human confirmation |
| Claude-AD | Active Directory assessments | Guided assessment playbook rather than an “auto pwn tool” | Explains defender visibility and pauses before actions that change a company network; maps findings to DORA, NIS2, and ENS |
| Antropic-Cybersecurity-Skills | General security work | 817 skills across 29 areas, including cloud security, malware analysis, hardware, and firmware | Connects findings to NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, or similar frameworks |
| Masriyan ICS skill | SCADA and industrial-control systems | Passive analysis of captures for Modbus, DNP3, Siemens S7, EtherNet/IP, and OPC-UA; counts communications and highlights write commands | Separate Shodan and Censys exposure-search mode; relates results to MITRE ATT&CK for ICS and IEC 62443 |
| K-Dense | Scientific data and analysis | 140 skills with scientific-database and Python-tool access | Requires strict data governance because an agent can interpret and change sensitive scientific data |
How can bug-bounty skills improve testing without creating duplicate reports?
Bug-bounty skills are most useful for organizing breadth: they can divide a target into authentication, authorization, API, client-side, configuration, and business-logic work, then require evidence for each candidate issue. Bountyforge’s reported design uses eight mini-agents and four tests per finding, while Claude-BugHunter’s reported 83-skill collection drew almost half of its content from 681 paid HackerOne reports.

Those numbers suggest an evidence-based starting point, not proof that every test is accurate. A model can misunderstand an application’s authorization model, mistake a benign response for data exposure, or repeat a known issue under a different name. Keep the target’s rules of engagement in the skill context, cap request rates, and redact secrets before sending responses to a hosted model.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →What should a human verify?
- Whether the affected asset and endpoint are actually in scope.
- Whether the response demonstrates unauthorized access rather than a public or test record.
- Whether a reported API abuse, APK key exposure, or SQL-injection example is reproducible in the permitted environment.
- Whether the issue is distinct from an existing report and has a clear security impact.
Manual testing remains essential. Co11ateral put it plainly: “Simply relying on the AI to find things isn’t enough, hunters that do it keep getting a lot of dupes.” Use the agent to generate hypotheses and coverage, then supply the judgment that determines novelty and impact.
Can an AI agent safely assess Active Directory?
It can assist with an authorized Active Directory assessment when the playbook is deliberately constrained. Claude-AD is described as a guided assessment rather than an automatic compromise tool: it explains what defenders would see and pauses for confirmation before actions that alter a company network.
Start with read-only inventory of domains, trusts, groups, delegation settings, authentication policies, and exposed services. Ask the agent to show the exact command and expected evidence before execution. Separate collection from remediation; an account-disable or group-membership change should never be an implicit next step.
Framework mapping makes the output useful beyond a list of misconfigurations. The reported playbook can relate findings to DORA, NIS2, and ENS, allowing a security team to connect a technical observation to a regulatory control. Confirm that the chosen framework applies to your jurisdiction and organization; the mapping is a reporting aid, not legal advice.

How should an AI agent handle SCADA and ICS networks?
Industrial environments demand a passive-first posture because scanning or writing to a controller can interrupt a physical process. The Masriyan ICS skill is described as reading existing network captures, recognizing Modbus, DNP3, Siemens S7, EtherNet/IP, and OPC-UA traffic, counting device communications, and highlighting write commands.
Passive workflow
- Export a bounded capture from an approved monitoring point and remove unrelated personal or business data.
- Let the skill classify protocols, endpoints, request-and-response pairs, and write operations without sending packets to the plant.
- Review highlighted writes against maintenance windows and known control logic; a write command in a capture is not by itself proof of malicious activity.
- Map confirmed behaviors to MITRE ATT&CK for ICS and IEC 62443 controls, then have an OT engineer review the interpretation.
The separate exposure-search mode uses Shodan and Censys to look for industrial equipment visible from the internet. Treat that as an external-exposure review with explicit authorization and minimal query volume; do not follow discovery with unsolicited login attempts or protocol writes.
Why use a broad cybersecurity skill collection?
Antropic-Cybersecurity-Skills is reported as a reference collection of 817 skills spanning 29 security areas, including cloud security, malware analysis, hardware, and firmware. Such breadth helps a team standardize terminology and reporting across specialists, especially when each skill links observations to NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, or a comparable framework.
Broad collections also increase review burden. A skill written for firmware triage may request file formats or tools that are inappropriate in a cloud account, and an outdated mapping can misstate a control. Enable only the subset needed for the engagement, inspect dependencies, and test each skill on representative, non-sensitive data before production use.

Apply data-governance controls before enabling such access: classify datasets, use read-only database roles for analysis, require review for code that writes results, and preserve immutable originals. Provenance matters as much as technical correctness. One reported comparison puts paracetamol at €8,205 per kilogram at 100% purity versus €5 per kilogram at 99% purity, but the organization and year behind those figures are unidentified; it should be treated as an illustration of why an agent must show sources and units, not as an established market statistic.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do skills actually reduce false positives?
They can reduce avoidable noise when they define evidence thresholds, deduplication rules, and a reproduction procedure. They cannot eliminate false positives because the model may lack application context, misunderstand protocol semantics, or infer impact from incomplete data.
Measure the skill like an engineering control: track confirmed findings, rejected findings, duplicates, missed issues, analyst time, and any unsafe tool calls. Compare those measures with the same team using its normal checklist. Do not treat a larger finding count as success; a lower false-positive rate with unchanged coverage is usually more valuable.
How do I choose among skills and keep them portable?
Choose by target and risk first, then by autonomy. A passive ICS parser is a poor fit for web reconnaissance, and a broad cloud collection is excessive for a single configuration review. Prefer skills whose instructions are plain text, whose tools are replaceable, and whose output is a documented schema rather than a vendor-specific dashboard.
- Target fit: web applications, directory services, OT protocols, cloud, malware, or science.
- Evidence basis: reported paid reports, protocol specifications, framework controls, or an explicitly documented methodology.
- Autonomy: read-only analysis, hypothesis generation, or actions that can change systems.
- Safety controls: confirmation gates, rate limits, sandboxing, and clear stop conditions.
- Framework mapping: NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, ATT&CK for ICS, DORA, NIS2, ENS, or IEC 62443 where applicable.
- Portability: support for your agent host and ordinary command-line or API tools, with minimal hidden dependencies.
The practical upgrade is not “give the model more permissions.” It is to give it a narrowly scoped, inspectable procedure and then constrain every tool call around that procedure. AI skills can be a game changer when grounded in real incident or bounty evidence, but authorization, passive collection where possible, and manual verification remain the controls that make the workflow defensible.

What are the main limitations of these reported skill counts?
The figures—83, 817 across 29 areas, and 140—are claims reported by Hackers Arise in 2026 and may change as repositories evolve. The examples of API abuse, APK key exposure, and SQL injection are reported demonstrations, not independently reproduced tests. Evaluate the current files, dependencies, licensing, and safety behavior yourself before relying on them in an engagement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a cybersecurity skill on a public bug-bounty program without extra approval?
Only if the program’s rules explicitly permit the activity and the specific targets are in scope. Public availability does not authorize high-volume scanning, credential testing, data collection, or actions that affect other users.
Should a skill be allowed to send findings directly to a customer?
No. Route draft findings through an analyst who verifies scope, reproduction, severity, sensitive-data handling, and duplicate status. Automated submission can create disclosure, contractual, and reputational problems.
How often should a security skill be revalidated?
Revalidate after changes to the repository, model, tool versions, target environment, or engagement rules. Keep a pinned version for each assessment so later reviewers can reproduce what the agent was instructed to do.
What is the safest first test for a new skill?
Use synthetic or sanitized data in an isolated workspace with outbound network access blocked. Compare its classifications and tool calls with an analyst-created answer before granting read access to real systems.
