To take a long screenshot on an iPhone, capture the screen normally, open the screenshot editor, tap Full Page, review or crop the capture, and save it. You can usually save the result as a PDF in Files; some supported capture contexts also offer Save to Photos for a long image.
Full Page is not available in every app. Apple’s clearest supported example is a complete webpage in Safari. If the button is missing, use the app’s export or print-to-PDF feature, or stitch several screenshots together with a third-party app.

What is a long screenshot?
A normal screenshot records only what is visible on the iPhone display. A full-page screenshot records a longer supported webpage or document as one continuous capture.

How to take a full-page screenshot on iPhone
1. Open the content
Open the webpage, document, email, note, receipt, or other supported content you want to capture. For webpages, Safari is Apple’s documented example.
2. Take a normal screenshot
The button combination depends on your iPhone model:
- iPhone with Face ID: Quickly press and release the side button and volume up button together.
- iPhone with Touch ID and a side button: Quickly press and release the side button and Home button together.
- iPhone with a top button and Home button: Quickly press and release the top button and Home button together.
Apple also supports alternative screenshot methods including AssistiveTouch, Back Tap, and Siri or voice commands. See Apple’s instructions for taking a screenshot.
3. Open the screenshot editor
Open the screenshot preview or editing interface immediately after capturing the screen. On iOS 18 and earlier, a temporary thumbnail normally appears in the lower-left corner; tap it to open the editor.

In iOS 26, Apple uses a full-screen screenshot editing experience by default. The screenshot may open directly in the editor instead of appearing as the older lower-left thumbnail. The Full Page control has not been removed; inspect the editing interface for it. Apple also documents settings that can change whether screenshots appear full-screen or as temporary thumbnails. See Apple’s current screenshot guide.
4. Choose Full Page
In the screenshot editor, tap Full Page near the top of the screen. If the option is available, the preview expands beyond the visible display.
5. Review and crop the capture
Use the extended preview to check that the required content was included. Crop away unwanted areas if necessary. Be careful: cropping before saving removes those areas from the saved result, so keep the original when the capture is important.

6. Save the result
Choose the available save option:
- Save to Photos: Use this when the capture context offers an image output and you need a tall image.
- Save PDF to Files: Use this for a full-page document. Choose a destination such as iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or an installed third-party Files provider, then tap Save.
Apple describes the Full Page workflow in its iPhone User Guide.

How to save a long screenshot as a PDF
For a supported webpage or document, use this path:
- Take the screenshot and open the editor.
- Tap Full Page.
- Review or crop the extended preview.
- Tap the save control or Done.
- Choose Save PDF to Files.
- Select a folder in iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or another Files location.
- Tap Save.
The result is stored in Files, not automatically in the Photos library. Open Files and browse to the destination you selected, or use the search field to find the PDF by name.
A PDF is a document rather than an ordinary photo. It is usually easier to attach to email, store, print, or mark up, and it is often more practical than an extremely tall image for a very long webpage.
How to save a full-page capture as an image
Apple’s current guide lists Save to Photos as an option for full-page captures in supported contexts. If that option appears, select it to place the result in Photos. The exact controls can vary by iOS version and by the app or content being captured, so do not assume every Full Page capture can be saved as a JPG or PNG.

Use an image when you need to send the result through an image-only service, post it, or edit it in a photo app. Choose PDF instead when the page is particularly long, the recipient expects a document, or the image would be unwieldy.
Ordinary screenshots saved to Photos can be found at Photos → Collections → Media Types → Screenshots. A PDF saved with Save PDF to Files is found in the Files location you chose.
Why Full Page is missing
A missing Full Page control usually means the app or content exposes only a visible-screen screenshot. It is not necessarily a problem with your iPhone.
- Open the screenshot editor. Full Page does not appear on the regular screen before a screenshot is taken.
- Look near the top of the editor. Check for the tab or control labeled Full Page beside the ordinary screen view.
- Try the page in Safari. Apple’s documented example is capturing an entire webpage in Safari.
- Check the app’s support. Apps can decide whether they provide full-page capture, and different apps may offer different save formats.
- Use the source app’s export tools. Look for Share, Print, Export, Save as PDF, or Download.
- Use a stitching app. This is the practical fallback for chats, social feeds, comment threads, and other apps that provide no native Full Page option.
Updating iOS may fix a general software issue or change the interface, but it will not make an unsupported app expose Full Page. Chrome, Mail, Notes, Files, messaging apps, and social apps should not be assumed to behave exactly like Safari.

How to make a long image from any app
When native Full Page capture is unavailable, take several ordinary screenshots while moving through the content, then combine them in a stitching app. Capture overlapping sections so the app can identify where one screenshot ends and the next begins.
This workaround is useful when you specifically need a single JPG or PNG from a conversation, receipt, feed, or app screen. It can also provide features such as manual seam adjustment, annotations, blur or mosaic tools, watermarks, device frames, and PDF export.
Stitching is not always perfect. You may see seams, duplicated pixels, repeated sticky headers, scrollbars, inconsistent spacing, or missing content. Feeds and live pages can change while you scroll, producing an inconsistent result. Review the final image before sharing.
Third-party apps may request access to Photos and may include in-app purchases or subscriptions. Check each app’s privacy disclosures and permissions, especially for private conversations, financial information, work documents, or account pages. A stitching app also cannot reliably bypass protected, DRM-controlled, restricted, or blank screenshot content.
Optional stitching tools
For users who need a long image rather than Apple’s native PDF workflow, the U.S. App Store listing for Picsew advertises automatic and manual stitching, scrollshot recording, webpage capture, annotations, blur, device frames, PDF export, and processing of up to 300 images. Its listing says it requires iOS 16 or later and shows free download with in-app purchases; prices can change.
StitchPics advertises scrolling screenshots, chat stitching, long-picture editing, annotations, mosaics, and layout options. Pic Stitch advertises scrolling capture, webpage capture from a URL, watermarking, mosaics, and image editing, but its listing shows subscription-oriented options and privacy disclosures that should be reviewed. Stitch Photos advertises screenshot stitching, screen-recording-based long captures, webpage capture, scrollbar removal, and JPG, PNG, or PDF export.
These tools are workarounds, not proof that every app supports Apple’s native Full Page feature.

- Very long pages: A PDF is usually more manageable than a massive image.
- Lazy-loaded content: Content that appears only after scrolling may not be included unless it has loaded.
- Interactive elements: Menus, videos, animations, carousels, and collapsed sections may not appear in the expected state.
- Private pages: Check for names, addresses, account numbers, receipts, and other sensitive information before sharing.
- Sticky elements: Floating buttons and fixed headers may repeat in a stitched image or cover text.
- Horizontal scrolling: Full Page is intended primarily for vertically extending content; wide tables may be better exported by the source app.
- Protected apps: Banking, streaming, corporate, or security-sensitive apps may restrict screenshots or produce blank or limited captures.
- Changing content: Live feeds and pages that update while scrolling may not produce a consistent full capture.
Quick troubleshooting checklist
- No Full Page: Reopen the screenshot editor, try Safari, and check the app’s export or print options.
- Wrong save location: Ordinary screenshots are in Photos; PDFs are in the Files folder selected during saving.
- Capture stops early: The app may expose only part of the content, or additional content may not have loaded.
- Missing sections: Expand sections and let lazy-loaded material appear before capturing.
- Blank or restricted result: The app may block screenshots or protect its content.
- Image is too large to share: Save as a PDF, crop unnecessary areas, or export a lower-resolution image from a stitching app.
- iOS 26 looks different: Use the full-screen editor rather than looking only for the older lower-left thumbnail.
Which method should you use?
| What you need | Best route |
|---|---|
| A full Safari webpage | Built-in Full Page capture |
| A long document as a file | Save PDF to Files |
| A JPG or PNG from a chat or social app | A stitching app |
| Manual seam control or annotations | A stitching app with editing tools |
| No installation or extra permissions | Apple’s native screenshot and PDF tools |
Apple’s built-in method should be your first choice for supported webpages and documents. Use a stitching workflow only when you need a long image or the app does not provide Full Page.
