To cancel Character.AI Plus (c.ai+) or c.ai lite and request a refund, first check your receipt or bank statement to see who billed you. Cancel through that billing channel to stop the next renewal, then send a separate refund request to the same provider. Cancellation does not automatically refund a charge; Character.AI says cancellations take effect at the end of the paid period and it does not issue partial refunds for unused time.
Who should you contact about a Character.AI refund?
The company that processed the payment handles the refund route. A web purchase goes through Stripe and Character.AI support; an iPhone or iPad purchase goes through Apple; an Android purchase goes through Google Play. If you are unsure, check the receipt or transaction details before submitting a request.

These are separate tasks: cancelling prevents a future renewal, while a refund request asks for money from a charge already made. Submit both when appropriate. Do not assume that sending a refund request has cancelled the subscription.
How do you cancel a Character.AI subscription bought on the web?
Cancel from your Character.AI account or web account page, then contact support separately if you want a refund. Character.AI’s current c.ai lite FAQ says website subscriptions are processed through Stripe and directs web purchasers to the Help Center support form.

- Sign in to the Character.AI account associated with the subscription.
- Open account settings or the web account page and find the subscription cancellation option.
- Complete the cancellation and keep any confirmation. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so paid access continues until then.
- Open the Character.AI Help Center support form and select “Payments and purchases.” Explain that you are requesting a refund for a web purchase.
- Include your account email, purchase date, charge amount, and receipt or transaction identifier. Add a screenshot of the receipt or relevant error if it helps explain the request.
If you cannot find the cancellation option, use the Help Center route and identify the account and transaction. Do not treat a support message as proof the renewal is off; look for a cancellation confirmation or verify the subscription status on the account page.
How do you cancel and request a refund on an iPhone or iPad?
Apple controls billing and refund decisions for App Store subscriptions. Cancel the subscription in Apple’s Subscriptions settings to prevent renewal, and submit any refund request through Apple’s refund page.

- Cancel the subscription and retain the confirmation. Character.AI’s terms identify the App Store as the cancellation channel for iOS purchases.
- Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase.
- Choose “I’d like to” and then “Request a refund,” select a reason, choose the Character.AI subscription, and submit.
Requesting a refund from Character.AI does not replace Apple’s process for an App Store charge. Apple decides whether to approve the request. If it is approved, the refund may take additional time to appear on the payment method.
How do you cancel and request a refund on Android?
For a Google Play purchase, cancel in Google Play’s subscriptions management and request any refund through Google Play. The available route can depend on how long ago the purchase was made.

Google says a refund may be available directly from Google within 48 hours, depending on the purchase details. That is not a guarantee: eligibility depends on Google’s policy and the circumstances. For users in the UK or European Economic Area, local consumer rules may also matter.
What information should you include in a refund request?
Give the payment processor enough detail to find the exact transaction. Keep the explanation concise and factual; a clear request helps support identify the charge, but it does not guarantee approval.

Use the account email tied to the subscription, even if it differs from the email you use to contact support. Do not send unnecessary sensitive information such as a full payment-card number; a receipt or transaction ID is the useful identifier.

According to Character.AI’s terms, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You generally keep access through the period you have already paid for, but unused time is not partially refunded under those terms.

A refund decision is separate and depends on the payment provider’s rules and, where relevant, applicable consumer law. Character.AI’s no-partial-refund statement does not mean an Apple or Google request is automatically denied; those providers make their own decisions for their transactions. Conversely, submitting a request does not mean it will be approved.
What if the cancellation or refund request does not work?
First confirm which account and payment channel the receipt identifies, then use that provider’s route. A web support request cannot cancel an App Store renewal, and Character.AI does not control Apple’s or Google Play’s refund decision.
- You cannot find the subscription: Check that you are signed into the same Apple Account or Google account used to subscribe, or the same Character.AI account used for a web purchase.
- You requested a refund but still see the subscription: Submit a separate cancellation through the relevant account or store. Refund and renewal status are not the same thing.
- You cancelled but the charge remains: Cancellation normally stops the next renewal; it does not reverse a charge already processed. Submit a refund request through the billing provider if you want that charge reviewed.
- Support cannot locate the charge: Provide the transaction or receipt identifier, date, amount, and the email tied to the subscription. Make sure you are contacting the processor shown on the receipt.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does Apple take to decide a Character.AI refund request?
Apple says to wait 24 to 48 hours for an update after submitting the request. If Apple approves it, the money can take additional time to reach the original payment method.
Can Google Play refund a Character.AI charge after 48 hours?
Google’s guidance says that after 48 hours, users should contact the app developer with the purchase details. A refund is still not guaranteed; the outcome depends on the purchase and applicable policy.
Do UK and EEA users always get 14 days to cancel a Google Play subscription for a refund?
Not necessarily. Google explains that access to digital content immediately after purchase can involve waiving the ordinary 14-day withdrawal right. Statutory remedies may still apply if the content is defective, unavailable, or not as described.
