You create a private server for The Mimic through Roblox, not through a separate in-game menu. Open the experience’s live Servers section, choose Create Private Server if CTStudio has enabled the feature, and complete Roblox’s purchase flow if a price is shown. To control access later, use the server row’s three-dot menu and choose Configure. There you can manage individual members, friends-list access, a server link, restrictions, and cancellation. If a friend receives a permission error, check both sides: your server member settings and the friend’s Roblox privacy or parental-control settings. The current price and availability are live Roblox page details, so do not rely on an old price quoted elsewhere.
The Mimic is the Roblox experience by CTStudio built around four stories inspired by Japanese history and urban legends. Its experience page warns about flashing lights, loud noises, and jumpscares. A private server is a Roblox platform feature that limits who can enter; it is not documented as a special The Mimic game mode with its own access system.

Roblox’s own wording is the key availability test: if the creator has enabled private servers for an experience, its page shows a Private Servers section. The live The Mimic experience page exposes a Servers tab, but the amount charged and whether private-server creation is currently enabled can change. Check that page immediately before paying.
How do I make a private server in The Mimic?
Use the standard Roblox experience-page workflow. You can only create one when the live page displays Private Servers and a Create Private Server button.

- Open the live experience page. Sign in to the Roblox account that will own the server and open The Mimic by CTStudio.
- Scroll to Servers. On the experience page, find the Servers section. Roblox says the private-server section appears only when the experience creator has turned the feature on.
- Select Create Private Server. If the option is present, Roblox opens the setup and purchase panel.
- Name the server. Choose a name your group will recognize. Review the subscription agreement shown by Roblox.
- Complete the purchase, if required. Select Buy Now when Roblox presents that button. The creator sets the Robux price; Roblox may charge an initial amount and then a recurring monthly amount.
- Configure it. Roblox normally lets you configure the new server immediately. You can also return to the Servers section later and open its configuration menu.
If there is no Private Servers heading or no Create Private Server button, do not use a third-party link or assume that an old tutorial’s workaround still works. Roblox’s documentation says the experience creator must enable the feature. In that situation, you can use the public server list and wait for the feature to become available, but you cannot create a Roblox private server for that experience from your account.
How much does a The Mimic private server cost?
There is no reliable fixed price to quote without checking the live Roblox interface. Roblox says the experience creator sets the price, and the charge can consist of an initial Robux payment followed by monthly renewal. The accessible The Mimic page does not expose a current amount in its text, so treat any price in an old video, post, or search snippet as potentially out of date.

Before confirming Buy Now, check three things in Roblox’s purchase panel:
- the Robux amount charged at creation;
- whether the panel describes a recurring monthly charge;
- the account that will own and manage the server.
A private server is tied to the purchasing account. Make sure that is the account whose friends, parental settings, and Robux balance you intend to use. If Roblox shows no price because private servers are free for the experience, you should still read the agreement and confirm the owner account before creating it.
How do I change who can join my The Mimic private server?
Open the server’s Roblox configuration page. The owner can use a manually maintained member list, allow friends, share a server link, and apply access restrictions. These controls affect the server; they do not override the invited player’s own privacy or parental-control settings.

- Return to The Mimic’s Servers section while signed in as the server owner.
- Find your private server in the list.
- At the far right of that server row, select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Configure.
- Change the relevant member, friends, link, restriction, or subscription setting, then save if Roblox presents a save control.
Roblox’s private-server controls can include the following options:
| Access method | What the owner does | Best use | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual members | Add specific Roblox usernames to the server’s member list. | A fixed group such as classmates or a regular squad. | You must update the list whenever membership changes. Roblox documents a limit of up to 50 individual users. |
| Friends Allowed | Turn on the option that allows eligible friends to join. | A casual group where everyone is already connected as Roblox friends. | Anyone who meets the friend condition may be able to join; it is less selective than a hand-picked list. |
| Server link | Create or copy a Roblox link from the configuration page and send it to intended players. | Inviting people without typing every username, or posting an invitation in a controlled group chat. | A forwarded link can reach people you did not intend to invite. A link does not bypass account privacy or age restrictions. |
| Restrictions | Use the available access-restriction controls in Configure. | Tightening entry after a link has been shared or limiting who can use the server. | Restrictions can prevent legitimate friends from joining until the setting is relaxed. |
When you want the smallest possible audience, use individual members and leave broad friends access off. When your group changes frequently, Friends Allowed is simpler but gives you less control. A link is convenient for an event, yet it should be treated like an invitation rather than a secret: send it only in a channel whose members you trust.
Why can’t my friend join my The Mimic private server?
A permission error can originate on either side. Roblox identifies privacy settings as a common cause of Error Code 524, so changing only the owner’s member list may not solve the problem. Work through the owner checks first, then have the invited player review their account and parental settings.
Owner checklist
- Open Servers > three dots > Configure for the correct server.
- Confirm the friend’s exact Roblox username is in Server Members, including spelling and capitalization as Roblox displays it.
- If you are not maintaining a member list, confirm that Friends Allowed is enabled and that the two accounts are actually Roblox friends.
- If you sent a server link, generate or copy it again from Configure and send the current link privately.
- Check that an access restriction was not enabled accidentally.
- Confirm that the server subscription has not expired or been canceled.
Invitee checklist
The invited player should sign in to the account they are using to accept the invitation, then open Roblox Settings > Privacy & content restrictions > Visibility & private servers > Private servers. They should choose an option that permits private-server invitations or joining, subject to any limits imposed by a parent or guardian. If the account belongs to someone under 13, Roblox’s documented default is stricter: the player can join private servers created by their friends. A parent’s controls can be stricter still.
Both accounts must satisfy the rules. For example, adding a username to Server Members will not override a child account’s parental restriction, and changing the invitee’s privacy setting will not help if the owner never added that username and has Friends Allowed disabled.

What should I do after checking the permissions?
Retry in a clean sequence so you can tell whether the problem is a setting or a temporary service issue.
- Have the owner save the Configure changes and close the configuration page.
- Ask the friend to leave any failed join screen, sign out and back in if necessary, and open the invitation while signed in to the intended account.
- Try joining from the server’s current entry in the Servers section rather than an old browser tab.
- If the error persists, restart the Roblox app and the device.
- Check the network connection and try again later. Roblox notes that a game or server can be temporarily unavailable.
Do not promise that changing a setting instantly ejects someone already inside a live session. Roblox’s documented controls explain who may join and how access is configured, but they do not guarantee an immediate kick or ban when a setting changes. For a sensitive session, change the member list or restriction before starting the next server session and share the updated invitation only with the intended players.
How are server settings different from Roblox account privacy?
Think of access as two gates. The server owner controls the first gate in Configure; the invited account’s privacy and parental controls form the second gate.
| Layer | Controlled by | Examples | What it cannot do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server configuration | The private-server owner | Member list, Friends Allowed, server link, restrictions, name, and cancellation. | It cannot override a player’s account-level privacy or parental limits. |
| Account privacy | The invited player, or a parent/guardian for a supervised account | Whether the account can join private servers and accept invitations. | It cannot add the account to a server whose owner has not allowed it. |
Roblox’s parental-controls guidance describes a private server as a Roblox game with limits on who can join. For a child account, the account-level control is therefore part of the invitation process, not an optional extra. If the child cannot change the relevant setting, the parent or guardian managing the account must review it.
What happens when I cancel a private-server subscription?
Use the server’s three-dot menu and choose Cancel, or open Configure and change the active subscription status, depending on the controls Roblox shows. Roblox says access continues through the period that has already been paid for; cancellation stops the next renewal rather than necessarily ending access immediately.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
If the account does not have enough Robux when a renewal is due, Roblox says the server expires. Before canceling, tell your group when the paid period ends and save any information they need, such as the server name or member list. A later purchase may create a new subscription and may require you to configure access again.
Can I create a private server if The Mimic does not show the option?
No supported Roblox workflow can turn on private servers for an experience when the creator has disabled them. Roblox places that control with the experience creator. Recheck the live page later, because availability can change, but avoid browser extensions, unofficial sellers, or “free private server” links that ask for your Roblox credentials.
The absence of the button is not evidence that your account is broken. It usually means one of three things: CTStudio has not enabled private servers, Roblox is temporarily not displaying the feature, or you are looking at a different page or account than the one you intend to use. Refresh the official experience page, verify that you are signed in, and look specifically for the Private Servers heading under Servers.

A short pre-session checklist avoids most permission failures:
- Confirm the live page still lists your server and that its subscription is active.
- Decide whether you want a fixed member list, Friends Allowed, or a temporary link.
- Add every intended username carefully, or confirm the players are Roblox friends if using Friends Allowed.
- Ask younger players to verify their private-server and parental settings before the session begins.
- Send the invitation only after the access policy is final.
- Keep a backup plan, such as a public server, in case Roblox or the experience is temporarily unavailable.
Because The Mimic includes flashing lights, loud noises, and jumpscares, tell new players what to expect before they join. That safety notice is part of the experience description and is separate from server permissions, but it matters when you are inviting a group, especially younger players.

Which access approach should I use?
Choose based on how much control you need. A manually maintained member list is the most predictable for a private event. Friends Allowed is easiest for a stable friend group that already uses Roblox’s friend relationships. A server link is fastest for distributing an invitation, but it requires careful handling and still depends on each recipient’s account settings.
None of these methods changes the game’s content, story selection, or in-game rules. They only determine which Roblox accounts can enter the server. If a player can enter another private server but not yours, compare your Configure settings first; if they cannot enter any private server, their account privacy or parental controls are the more likely cause.
Where are the official instructions?
For the platform workflow, consult Roblox’s Private / VIP Servers FAQ and its guidance on privacy settings. Those pages describe the creator-controlled feature, Configure menu, member limits, recurring billing, and the account-level checks that affect invitations. Use the live The Mimic page for the current Servers section and any price Roblox displays at the time you create the server.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a private server be free in Roblox?
It can be, but the experience creator decides whether to charge and how much. If Roblox shows no Robux price on the live creation panel, read the agreement and confirm the owner account before selecting the create button.
Does a server link bypass a child account’s restrictions?
No. A link is only an invitation method; the recipient’s privacy and parental controls still apply. A supervised account may need its parent or guardian to permit private-server access.
Will canceling delete my server immediately?
Roblox says cancellation normally leaves access available for the already-paid period and prevents the next renewal. The exact status shown in Configure is the authority for that server, so check its end date after canceling.
Recommended Free Tools
Why can my friend join other Roblox private servers but not mine?
Your server may have Friends Allowed turned off, the username may be missing from Server Members, or an access restriction may be active. Compare your Configure page with the friend’s account setting instead of assuming the game itself is blocking them.
