You can review Epic Games account connections, limit what a connected service can access, request a copy of your account information, and submit privacy requests. Epic also says it personalizes recommendations and uses information submitted to AI-powered features to generate their outputs. Its current Privacy Policy, updated April 22, 2026, does not establish that all ordinary account activity is used to train a general-purpose AI model, and the materials reviewed do not confirm a current account switch for turning off recommendation personalization. The practical approach is to check each control separately rather than assume one setting stops every use of data.
What does Epic say about AI and personalization?
Epic says it uses information to tailor content, features, and recommendations to users or to infer what may interest them. Its examples include suggested games, Fortnite Islands, items, and game levels. It also says it may improve machine-learning technologies that help deliver those recommendations. That is a disclosed personalization use; it is not the same as a statement that all Epic account activity is fed into a general-purpose AI model.

When someone uses a feature such as Epic Developer Assistant, information submitted as input can be used to generate outputs. Epic also lists large language model providers among service providers that enable AI-powered features. Separately, the policy describes training machine-learning technologies to detect and moderate illegal, harmful, toxic, or fraudulent content. These are distinct disclosures, not evidence that every Epic user’s data is used in every AI system.
The policy covers Epic Services, including games, marketplaces, developer tools, apps, and websites. Depending on how you use those services, information may come from you, be collected automatically, or be received from third parties. Examples of automatically collected information include use and gameplay details, preferences, device identifiers, IP address, and general location. The exact categories depend on which Epic service, device, platform, and feature you use.

Epic also says it does not sell personal data or process it for targeted advertising, and does not profile users through automated means to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Those statements do not mean there is no personalization: recommendations based on activity are described separately in the policy. Personalized game or item suggestions and targeted advertising are different concepts. What the policy does—and does not—establish
The policy gives a feature-specific explanation for AI inputs: information you submit to an AI-powered feature may be used to generate its output. It also identifies service providers, including large language model providers, that help operate those features. It does not say that every account record, gameplay event, or linked-account detail is routinely used to train a general-purpose generative model. Avoid treating a disclosure about one feature as a description of every Epic system.

Likewise, the recommendation language concerns presenting content inferred from activity and improving machine-learning technologies that deliver those recommendations. It does not identify a universal “do not train” switch, and it does not promise that turning off one browser technology would stop all recommendation processing.
How do I review and remove linked accounts?
Epic identifies the Linked accounts area in account settings as the place to view and manage connections to social platforms and gaming storefronts. Review those connections and remove ones you no longer want tied to your Epic account. Make a list first if you use several consoles, social accounts, or storefronts, so you can distinguish an old connection from one that still supports a game you play.
- Sign in to your Epic Games account and open your account settings.
- Open Linked accounts and review the listed social-platform and gaming-storefront connections.
- For a connection you no longer want, use the removal or unlink option shown in the live account interface, then follow its confirmation steps.
- Check the connected service as well if you want to review what that service retains or how it uses information it already received.
- Record which connection you removed and the date, especially if you are troubleshooting a later sign-in or cross-progression problem.
The exact consequences of unlinking depend on the service. A connection may support sign-in, friends, or cross-progression, so removing it can affect those features. Review the relevant service’s instructions before unlinking if you rely on it to access a game or maintain a connected feature. Removing an account connection is a narrow control; it is not a request to access, correct, or delete all information Epic holds.
Check the result without creating a new exposure
After unlinking, sign out of the affected service and confirm that the connection no longer appears in Epic’s account area. Do not approve a replacement connection automatically if a prompt requests more categories than you expected. If a game stops showing friends or progress, that may be an effect of the removed connection rather than evidence that the privacy change failed. The service’s support and privacy information are the appropriate places to resolve that separate functionality issue.

What information can a third-party app get through Epic sign-in?
A third-party product can use Epic sign-in to verify your identity. If it asks for other information, Epic says it seeks your explicit consent for each requested category. Treat the permission prompt as a separate decision for each app or service, rather than as a blanket approval for every future connection.

Depending on the request, information may include your display name, linked accounts, online status or current game, and friends who have authorized that service. Epic says passwords and payment details are not shared with third-party products or services through this sign-in permission flow. That assurance is specific to the Epic sign-in flow; it does not mean Epic never discloses personal information to third parties for other purposes described in its Privacy Policy.
Before you approve a permission request
- Read the name of the service and each data category it requests.
- Ask whether the feature you want actually needs each category. If a category seems unnecessary, do not approve it without understanding why.
- Check the third-party service’s own privacy notice. It sets out that service’s practices for information it receives.
- Confirm that you are on the expected sign-in page before entering credentials.
- If you have already approved access, use Epic’s account or support options to review and revoke it where available.
Revoking access addresses a permission to a connected service. It is not automatically a deletion request to Epic, nor does it establish what the recipient will do with information it already obtained. For information about that recipient’s handling, consult its privacy notice or contact it directly. A third party can also have its own retention, correction, and deletion process, so an Epic change may need to be paired with a request to that company.
How can I download a copy of my Epic account information?
Epic’s account-data flow lets you request a PDF through the account page. You will need access to the email account associated with the Epic account because the process uses emailed links and a separately delivered security code.

- Sign in to your Epic account page and find Download account information.
- Select Request Download.
- Wait for Epic’s email and return using the link it provides.
- Select Download file.
- Enter the security code sent in a separate email to download the PDF.
Use the download to inspect the information in the file, but do not treat it as a guarantee that the PDF contains every data element Epic holds. If you need to know whether particular information is included or want to exercise a formal access right, use Epic’s privacy-request channel as well. Keep the PDF secure: it may contain account-related details that you would not want to post publicly or forward broadly.
If the email does not arrive, check the address associated with the Epic account and the spam or junk folder, then use the account page or Epic support rather than repeatedly approving unfamiliar links. The download workflow is an account-inspection tool, not a confirmation that every service provider has deleted its copy or that all processing has stopped.
Which control should I use for each privacy concern?
Epic’s controls address different scopes. A linked-account permission, a marketing preference, a browser cookie setting, and a formal privacy request are not interchangeable. Start by naming the data flow you want to change, then choose the control that actually governs it.

How do I request access, correction, or deletion?
Epic’s Privacy Policy describes requests to access, correct, or delete information. The appropriate route is Epic’s privacy-request channel, not merely unlinking an app or changing an email preference. Epic may ask you to verify your identity before responding, and the rights available can depend on your jurisdiction.

- Identify whether you want access to information, correction of inaccurate information, or deletion.
- Use the privacy-request method described in Epic’s current Privacy Policy. The policy lists [email protected] and [email protected] as privacy contacts.
- Provide the information needed to identify your account and describe the request clearly. Do not send a password.
- Specify whether the issue concerns Epic’s account records, a particular linked service, an AI-powered feature, or recommendations. A precise description helps distinguish those systems.
- Complete any identity-verification steps Epic requests, then review its response and any stated limits or exceptions.
Deletion is not an unconditional promise that every record will be erased immediately. Epic notes that legal or operational exceptions may apply. The policy is the best place to check the current explanation of rights and applicable limits for your region. A request to Epic also does not automatically control information held by a publisher, console, social platform, or other recipient; contact that organization separately when necessary.
Can I turn off personalized recommendations?
Epic’s current policy confirms that it personalizes recommendations, but the materials reviewed do not establish a current account-setting path or a specific recommendation opt-out toggle. Do not assume that unlinking a social account, disabling marketing email, or blocking cookies switches off recommendation personalization.
Check your live Epic account interface and the current Epic information about recommendations for any control available to your account. Features and privacy options may vary by age, region, and parental permissions. If no relevant control is shown, the policy’s privacy-request process is the appropriate route for asking Epic about your options; it is not a substitute for a confirmed setting.
When asking, describe the recommendation behavior you mean—for example, suggested games, Islands, items, or levels—and whether you are asking about personalization, an AI-powered feature you used, or marketing communication. Those are separate purposes in Epic’s policy, so a generic request to “stop AI” may not identify the control you need.
What other settings can reduce sharing?
Marketing email preferences
Epic documents three ways to adjust email marketing preferences: change them in account settings, use an opt-out link in an email, or contact Epic directly. This controls marketing messages, not the recommendation systems described separately in the Privacy Policy. You may still receive operational or account-related communications that are not marketing messages.
Cookies and similar technologies
Browser or device settings can block, delete, or limit cookies and similar technologies. Epic warns that disabling cookies can make some parts of its services malfunction or become unavailable. This is a browser/device-level choice, not a comprehensive switch for all information collection or processing. Consider making the change in the browser or device profile you actually use for Epic Services; changing a different profile will not necessarily affect the active session.
Settings on connected platforms
Epic says the privacy settings of linked third-party platforms can affect what those companies disclose to Epic. If your concern is data coming from a particular social platform, storefront, console, or mobile platform, review that provider’s privacy controls and notice in addition to your Epic settings. Changing the platform setting may affect other games or social features that use the same account.

Child accounts
For a child account, a parent or guardian should review Epic’s parental controls and Cabined Account information. Available features and privacy settings can depend on the child’s age, region, and parental permissions, so an adult account’s options may not apply. The adult managing the account should confirm which email address receives notices and complete any verification Epic requires.

The Privacy Policy describes disclosures to service providers, including marketing and advertising partners and large language model providers that enable AI-powered features. Depending on the service and context, it also describes disclosures to game publishers or developers, gaming consoles and mobile platforms, linked social platforms or storefronts, other users or the public, and parties with a user’s permission. These policy disclosures are broader than the narrow sign-in permission flow, and each third party may have its own privacy practices.
For a specific concern, identify the service or feature involved before choosing a control: a permission prompt governs a connected service’s requested categories; a platform privacy setting governs what that platform shares; and a formal privacy request addresses rights concerning information Epic holds. No single one of these controls should be treated as a universal off switch for all processing.
A practical review sequence
For most accounts, the following order provides the clearest picture without changing more than necessary:
- List every platform, storefront, social account, and external product you remember connecting to Epic.
- Review Linked accounts and remove connections that are no longer needed, after checking whether they support sign-in, friends, or cross-progression.
- Open any new sign-in prompt carefully and approve only the categories required for the feature.
- Request and securely review the account-information PDF.
- Change marketing preferences if your concern is email, and adjust browser or device cookie controls if your concern is cookies.
- Check the privacy settings of platforms that may provide information to Epic.
- Use Epic’s privacy-request channel for access, correction, deletion, or a question about a particular AI or recommendation use.
- For a child account, have the parent or guardian repeat the review using the applicable Cabined Account and parental-control options.
This sequence separates immediate permission changes from broader rights requests. Keep notes about what you changed and any functionality that stopped working, because a later support request is easier when you can identify the exact connection, feature, and date.

Does unlinking an app erase information it already received from Epic?
The reviewed Epic sign-in information explains revoking access, but does not establish that revocation deletes copies a recipient already has. Ask the receiving service about deletion under its own privacy practices, and submit a separate Epic privacy request if you want to address information Epic holds.
Can I stop every AI-related use of my data by disconnecting third-party apps?
