To return a Flipkart order, sign in, open Orders, select the item, choose Return, and follow the remedy and reason shown for that listing. Depending on the product, seller policy, delivery method, and issue, the available option may be an exchange, a replacement, or a refund—not necessarily all three.
Check the item’s product page for its deadline and condition rules before you start. Keep the original packaging, tags, accessories, freebies, and included parts ready where required, then monitor the request in My Orders. Flipkart’s customer guides published October 6, 2026 describe category-specific windows rather than one marketplace-wide return period.

What is the difference between a return, replacement, exchange, and refund?
These terms describe different outcomes. The option Flipkart shows for your item and reason determines what you can request; a return does not automatically mean that you can choose a cash refund.

If the screen offers only a replacement, that is the remedy available for that item and reason in the request flow. Flipkart’s current return guide says the options customers may see are Exchange, Replace, or Refund; check the listing and request details rather than assuming that one option can be substituted for another.

How do I return something on Flipkart?
Start the request from the order itself. The exact choices and any verification or troubleshooting depend on the product category and reason.
- Sign in to the Flipkart app or website.
- Open Orders and select the item you need help with.
- Choose Return, then select the reason that matches the problem, such as damage, defect, a missing item, the wrong item, or a size or style issue. Use only a reason that accurately describes what happened.
- Review the remedy offered for that item. Select Exchange, Replace, or Refund only if that choice is presented.
- Complete any verification or troubleshooting the request requires. Some categories may involve additional checks.
- Prepare the product in the condition required by its policy, with the original packaging and included items where required.
- Follow the instructions shown for pickup, replacement delivery, or refund processing.
- Track progress under My Orders. Flipkart says it sends an email and SMS after a return request is raised.
Before submitting, check that you selected the correct item and reason. Keep a record of the request and follow the instructions attached to that order; a category-specific verification, inspection, pickup, or other step may affect what happens next.
How long do I have to request a return or replacement?
There is no single return deadline that applies to every Flipkart order. The product page and seller policy control, so check the exact window for your item before raising a request. Flipkart’s current guide gives these examples, not universal guarantees:

The examples above come from Flipkart’s customer guide published October 6, 2026. A listed category does not mean every product in it has the same remedy: the product page’s stated guarantee and the return options displayed for the order are the more specific information. Flipkart explicitly advises customers to check the replacement guarantee period on the product page before starting a request.

What should I keep ready before handing over a return?
Check the item’s condition rules and gather everything that came with it before you pack or hand it over. Missing accessories, tags, packaging, or included components may matter under the applicable seller and category terms.
- Deadline and policy: Confirm the item’s return or replacement window and the remedy the listing permits.
- Condition: Check whether it must be unused, unworn, unopened, undamaged, or otherwise meet a stated condition.
- Packaging and identifiers: Keep the original box or packaging, tags, and any serial or UPC identifiers where required.
- Included items: Gather accessories, freebies, manuals, and other parts supplied with the product.
- Special restrictions: Check whether the category has special rules or is not returnable under the listing’s policy.
- Accurate reason: Select the actual product or fulfilment problem, rather than describing a buyer-remorse request as damage or a defect.
Flipkart’s published terms give category-specific examples: clothing and footwear should be new and unworn other than for trial; beauty, health, and personal-care items should be new and unopened; sports, office, and jewellery products should be new and returned with original packaging; and electronics should include the required components. The applicable listing and instructions determine what applies to your order.
For a small, non-fragile item, a self-seal poly mailer can be an optional outer layer for transit. It does not replace the original product packaging, tags, accessories, identifiers, or any seller instruction.
Can I return a Flipkart open-box delivery?
Flipkart’s current guide says an open-box delivery can be returned only for a manufacturing defect. That makes inspection at the doorstep especially important: check for visible damage, tampering, missing parts, or a shipment problem while the delivery is being made.

If the package or item appears damaged or tampered with, reject the delivery immediately where possible and report the issue through the order in Flipkart. If you accept an open-box delivery and later find a problem, use the available order flow and report the actual issue; do not assume that an open-box order follows the same return rules as every other delivery.
How long does a Flipkart refund take?
For eligible refunds, Flipkart’s official refund guide gives a range of 2 to 10 days. It does not establish one universal clock for every payment method or case, so use the estimate and instructions associated with your order rather than treating the range as a guaranteed date.
A refund may depend on steps beyond tapping Return, such as verification, seller approval, pickup, inspection, or another category-specific requirement. The marketplace terms say that when a seller accepts a return, the buyer generally returns the product before the refund is credited. Follow the exact instruction displayed for your ticket: collection requirements can differ by case.
Not every product is eligible for a return, exchange, or refund. Flipkart’s refund guide gives lifestyle, furniture, furnishings, home décor, pet supplies, and medicine as examples of categories where a complete refund may be available, subject to the applicable policy. It also says a refund may be available if the seller cannot provide a replacement. These examples do not make every product in those categories refundable.

Track the request in My Orders. If the expectation shown for your case has passed, contact Flipkart through its official support route and refer to the order and request details.
What if the seller rejects or ignores my request?
First try to resolve the issue with the seller through the order’s available support or contact route. If the issue remains unresolved, Flipkart’s published terms describe escalation through its Buyer Protection process, subject to eligibility and verification.
