On TikTok, “pinning” can mean two different actions: pinning a comment so it stays at the top of a video’s comments, or pinning a video so it stays highlighted on your profile.

Prerequisites and things to check first
- Be the right type of account: typically you can pin comments on your own videos, and pin videos on your own profile.
- Update TikTok: pin controls can disappear on older versions. If you haven’t updated recently, update the app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Check whether the feature is enabled for your account: some features roll out gradually. If you don’t see the option, it may be a rollout or permission issue.
How to pin a comment on TikTok (iPhone, iPad, Android)
Pin a comment to the top of a video
Use this when you want your favorite response, a rule reminder, or an important link-style comment to stay visible.
- Open the TikTok app and go to the video where the comment is posted.
- Scroll to Comments.
- Find the comment you want to pin.
- Tap and hold the comment (or tap the ellipsis … menu on the comment).
- Select Pin comment.
- Confirm if TikTok asks you to confirm the pin action.
Unpin or replace a pinned comment
If you want a different comment to be on top, you’ll usually unpin the current one first.
- Open the same video and go to Comments.
- Locate the currently pinned comment (it will show as the pinned comment at the top).
- Tap and hold the pinned comment (or tap …).
- Choose Unpin comment (or a similar option).
- Pin the new comment by repeating the steps above.
How to pin a video on your profile (iPhone, iPad, Android)
Pinning a video helps you control what people see first when they land on your profile. Depending on rollout, it may appear as a Pin option on your profile or in the video’s menu.

Pin a video to your profile
- Open TikTok and go to your profile (tap Profile icon).
- Find the video you want to pin in your grid.
- Tap the video’s ellipsis … menu (or tap the video and open the menu for that specific post).
- Select Pin to profile (wording may appear as Pin or Set as pinned).
- Confirm if TikTok asks you to confirm.
Change which video is pinned
If you already have a pinned video, selecting another video to pin usually replaces it.
- Go to your profile.
- Open the menu for the video you want to pin.
- Tap Pin to profile.
- Verify the new pinned video appears at the top of your profile.
Unpin a video from your profile
- Go to your profile and open the pinned video’s … menu.
- Select Unpin or Remove pin.
- Confirm if prompted.
When you don’t see the Pin option
Most “pin not available” problems come down to account permissions, the feature rollout, or you trying to pin from the wrong place (like a comment you don’t control).
Comment pinning troubleshooting
- You may be tapping the wrong comment: open the video and look for the exact comment thread you want pinned.
- You may not have permission: if the video isn’t yours (or you’re not allowed to moderate it), TikTok may hide Pin comment.
- App is out of date: update TikTok and try again. After updating, fully close and reopen the app.
Video pinning troubleshooting
- Pin option not shown on your own profile: ensure you’re viewing your profile grid and not a repost/followers view.
- Rollout varies: TikTok doesn’t release every UI control to everyone at once. If there’s no Pin to profile item, it may be temporarily unavailable for your account/region.
- Try pinning from the video menu: open the video, use the … menu, and look for the pin-related entry.
Permissions, limits, and common gotchas
- Pinning is per context: a pinned comment is tied to a specific video, not your whole profile.
- Only certain comments can be pinned: if TikTok hides the option, you likely don’t have the right permissions.
- Pinned video behavior can differ: some accounts may allow pinning only from certain types of posts, while others limit it to one pinned item.
- Moderation can affect visibility: if a pinned comment is removed by moderation or violates policy, it may disappear, which makes it look like pinning “didn’t work.”

Pin a comment vs. highlight text
Pinned comments stay at the top of the comment list. Highlighting or on-screen text is part of the video itself and doesn’t live in the comment feed.
Pin a video vs. using a bio link or featured post
Pinning affects the first thing viewers see in your profile grid. A bio link can route them elsewhere, but it doesn’t guarantee the same “top of profile” visibility.

Can I pin someone else’s comment?
Usually no. Comment pinning typically requires you to have permission over that video’s comments (often being the video owner or having moderation rights).

How many pinned comments can I have?
Typically, you can pin one comment at a time per video. Pinning a different comment generally replaces the existing pinned comment.
Why did my pinned comment disappear?
Common causes include comment deletion, moderation actions, or the app UI not refreshing. Try refreshing by exiting the video and reopening, and check for the comment in the list.
Why can’t I pin a video to my profile?
