For the rooftop “Welcome to Vice City” letters, plan a skyline photograph from public ground, the bay or (偶asionally) an arriving aircraft—not a walk onto Kaseya Center’s roof. The pink GTA 6 marketing sign was installed by helicopter on 22 September 2026 and is scheduled to remain until the later of roughly one year after installation or the final 2026–27 Miami HEAT home game (listed as 11 April 2027). The most reliable light is Miami’s short evening blue hour, followed by night when the arena facade and screen turn pink. If you want lettering you can stand beside, use The Underline’s Brickell soccer court or Queen Andrea’s “We ♥ Vice City” mural in Wynwood. This guide gives exact locations, timing, access rules, gear choices and a practical one-day route.
What exactly is Miami’s “Vice City” sign?
The headline attraction is a temporary Rockstar Games promotion on the roof of Kaseya Center, the Miami HEAT arena on Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami. Large pink letters read “Welcome to Vice City” beside the pink VI emblem associated with Grand Theft Auto VI. Crews lifted the lettering into place by helicopter on 22 September 2026. It is advertising for the game’s 19 November 2026 launch, not a civic renaming: Miami has not permanently changed its name.

Can I walk onto Kaseya Center’s roof?
No public rooftop-access program has been confirmed. Treat the letters as a distant skyline subject. Photograph from legal public sidewalks, parks, waterfronts or permitted events; do not climb barriers, enter service areas or assume that an arena tour includes the roof.

The venue’s directions put public approaches on Biscayne Boulevard, NE 8th Street, Bayshore Drive and HEAT Boulevard (rideshare drop-off at Gate 6), with the west side of the building also used for access. Those instructions are for entering the arena, not a photography permit. Keep entrances, ramps and pedestrian flows clear, particularly on game nights. The arena warns that nearby lots have been removed and recommends parking farther away or using transit.
MetroRail to Government Center followed by the MetroMover to Park West Station is the simplest car-free approach. From Park West, walk east to Biscayne Boulevard and cross to the arena district. You can photograph the facade and screen from public areas, but the rooftop letters will still require a long lens and a clear line of sight.

When is the best time to photograph the rooftop letters?
Arrive before sunset and work the nine-to-10-minute evening blue-hour window, then stay for the illuminated facade and night sky. Miami’s evening blue hour begins when the sun is about 4–6 degrees below the horizon and ends roughly 23–27 minutes after sunset. The letters are too high and distant for a daylight close-up from street level, so the useful contrast is pink lettering against residual dusk color or a dark sky.
As a mid-October planning example (15 October, local time), sunset is about 6:53 p.m.; evening golden hour runs approximately 6:23–7:08 p.m.; blue hour is about 7:08–7:17 p.m. These values vary by date and location. Check the NOAA Solar Calculator for your exact day, arrive at least 30 minutes early, and be set up when golden hour starts. Photography references put Miami’s evening golden hour at 44–49 minutes in every month.
Season changes the clock substantially: mid-month sunset is around 5:32 p.m. in December and about 8:14 p.m. in July. Sunset direction shifts from roughly 244° (west-southwest) in December to 297° (west-northwest) in June, which changes which skyline gaps carry the remaining glow. October through February is commonly favored for comfortable skyline work, while Miami’s roughly November–April dry season is generally easier outdoors.
Night is a separate, worthwhile session. A photographer documented the arena exterior and its large screen lit pink after dark in October 2026. The color is strongest once the sky is fully dark, but a small amount of blue in the sky gives the roofline more separation. Use a stable support and make several exposures rather than relying on one fixed recipe.

Which public viewpoints work for the rooftop sign?
No published source identifies a single sidewalk corner that fills the frame with the roof letters. The following documented public locations are practical starting points; sightlines can change with construction, trees, event fencing and weather.
| Viewpoint | Distance and direction | Hours/access | What it is good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bayfront Park | About 0.8 km from the downtown cluster; looks approximately SSW (207°) | 7 a.m.–11 p.m.; organized shoots require a permit; drones prohibited | Closest well-documented park that remains open through blue hour and night. Bring a telephoto lens and expect foreground towers. |
| Margaret Pace Park | About 2.8 km southward view toward the towers (189°) | 7 a.m.–10 p.m. | Longer skyline compression; west-facing areas receive side light from March through September. |
| Venetian Causeway, Rivo Alto bridge | About 4.1 km at 234° (southwest) | No posted hours; walk or cycle only for a safe stop | Long-lens stacking of downtown towers. In November–January, sunset sits 10–20° off the skyline bearing, giving warm separation. |
| Hobie Beach | About 2.6 km at 12° (north-northeast), across the water | Car access has a toll | October–February can put warm front light on tower faces; water reflections add scale. |
| South Pointe Park | West-facing skyline view | Listed as sunrise to sunset | Useful for sunset color, but it closes before the full blue-hour interval. Confirm current Miami Beach hours before relying on it. |
Do not stop a vehicle on the Venetian Causeway or Rickenbacker Causeway. Florida traffic law and the roadway design make bridge shoulders a poor—and unsafe—tripod position. Bayfront Park’s drone ban applies even when the skyline looks unobstructed. A drone also cannot solve the roof-access issue legally.
Can a flight into Miami International Airport show the sign?
Sometimes. Reports citing CBS Miami say some arrivals into Miami International Airport can see the Kaseya Center roof from above. The view depends on the approach path, aircraft side, seat, clouds and haze, so it is an opportunistic bonus rather than a shoot you can book or guarantee. Keep your camera stowed whenever the crew requires it and never interfere with safety instructions.
Where can I photograph “Welcome to Vice City” at street level?
The Underline Urban Gym, Brickell
This is the easiest walk-up version of the phrase. The free outdoor soccer court sits under the Metrorail on SW 1st Avenue between SW 7th and SW 8th Streets (map point 25.767197, -80.195751). Green fencing carries “Welcome to Vice City” banners and VI logos with palm trees; one design pairs a blue field with an orange VI and another reverses the colors on pink.
A 24 October 2026 photo report found the court strongest after dark, when court lights and the colored Metrorail pillars create the game-like pink-and-blue look. It is an active public exercise space, not a set: wait for a clear moment, do not block players, and avoid tripods in circulation paths.
Queen Andrea’s “We ♥ Vice City” mural, Wynwood
At 400 NW 26th Street, large “We ♥ Vice City” lettering is painted on a street-facing wall. Queen Andrea was documented painting it between 6 and 13 October 2026. This is the most phone-friendly lettering because you can stand at the wall rather than compress it from a distant park.
For an unobstructed sidewalk, go in the morning before the mural district fills. Street murals are accessible outside museum hours, but sidewalks, loading zones and neighboring businesses still operate normally. Murals in the partnership were reported to remain through 1 January 2027; temporary paint and campaign pieces can disappear earlier, so check the wall when you arrive.

What else is at Wynwood Walls, and do I need a ticket?
The Wynwood Walls museum campus at 2516 NW 2nd Avenue contains Tristan Eaton’s GTA 6-related mural and is separate from the Queen Andrea street wall. Official hours are 10:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m., with doors closing 30 minutes before closing. The campus is ticketed; Miami-Dade residents with photo ID showing a county address receive free digital-membership admission through 2028, children under 12 are always free, and the published non-resident adult price is $12.
Wynwood Garage at 311 NW 26th Street is covered and open 24/7. Published rates are roughly $20–$40 depending on stay length and can rise on event days; metered street parking is another option. The museum’s ten-mural partnership includes ATOMIK, Tatiana Suarez, Askew One, DENIAL, FAILE, Gons and Audet, Lady AIKO, Queen Andrea, Ron English and Tristan Eaton. Nine works are on neighborhood walls and one is on the campus. The game’s in-world district is inspired by Wynwood Walls, which the partnership describes as “Stockyard” in Vice City.
Other temporary walls documented in late October include ATOMIK’s orange “Vice Dale County” at 2238 NW 1st Place (Wynwood), a Ron English piece near 25.802404, -80.202064, and a Tatiana Suarez wall near 25.800089, -80.202225. Treat those coordinates as leads, not permanent landmarks: the campaign moves quickly.
Can I photograph Vice City displays inside Kaseya Center?
Yes, if you have an event ticket or an approved arena visit, but the interior displays are not substitutes for the roof letters. A 21 October 2026 game report showed a pink “I ♥ VICE CITY” wall, Burger Shot and Cluckin’ Bell concession branding, and elevator wraps for Vice City FM and Macca & Friends. These are event and campaign installations, so access and placement can change.
Kaseya Center lists All-Access Tours on its calendar (examples include 1 November 2026 at 2 p.m. and 27–29 November 2026). No primary statement confirms that a tour goes onto the roof or guarantees a rooftop view. Verify the current tour description and photography rules before buying a ticket.

The official venue calendar lists Milwaukee Bucks at Miami HEAT on Wednesday, 18 November 2026 at 7 p.m. Reports from the HEAT and entertainment coverage describe a temporary Vice City theme with a custom court, reimagined uniforms, themed concessions and merchandise. Because the themed elements can change, confirm the current HEAT event page before booking travel around them.

An arena ticket gives you access to the interior campaign pieces and pink lighting, not the roof. For the exterior, arrive early enough to scout a public position, then leave entrances and security lanes unobstructed as crowds build.
How long will each Vice City photo spot remain?
- Kaseya Center roof: the reported marketing agreement runs until the later of one year after the 22 September 2026 installation (approximately September 2027) or the final 2026–27 HEAT home game, listed as 11 April 2027. That is a schedule, not a guarantee that the display will be extended.
- Wynwood partnership murals: reported on show through 1 January 2027.
- The Underline banners, buses, beach furniture, banners and other street pieces: temporary campaign material with no dependable removal date. A late-October field guide warned that what appears in a photograph may already be gone.
Re-check park hours, Wynwood Walls’ calendar and the HEAT event page on the day of your visit. Hurricane-season weather (June through November), thunderstorms and event closures can change access with little notice.
What camera and lens setup makes sense?
For the roof, think “distant night skyline,” not a fixed settings recipe. A 70–200 mm lens or another long zoom helps isolate the roof from foreground clutter; a longer focal length also compresses towers from the Venetian Causeway. A travel tripod, timer or remote release and a stable surface make multi-second exposures sharper. Take a test frame and adjust shutter speed, aperture and ISO for the actual light; there is no universal 20–30-second-at-f/8 setting that fits every park and sky.
A circular polarizer can reduce glare on bay water and glass, although it also costs light. A variable neutral-density filter is useful for deliberate water blur after the blue-hour window, not for the already-dark letters. If you move from air conditioning into humid evening air, let the camera and lens acclimate gradually to prevent condensation. Weather-sealed equipment is sensible for sudden downpours, but no camera is a reason to remain outside during lightning.
For The Underline and Wynwood, a phone or normal zoom is usually sufficient. A small tripod can help after dark where space permits; ask before placing it in an active court or narrowing a public sidewalk.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What permits, parking and safety rules should photographers know?
- Bayfront Park: organized or commercial shoots require a permit; drones are prohibited. Casual handheld photographs are different from reserving space or bringing a crew.
- Wynwood Walls campus: pay admission or use the Miami-Dade resident program; follow the museum’s current photography and tripod rules.
- South Beach: metered enforcement is reported from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m., seven days a week. Do not assume free curb space after sunset.
- Causeways: never stop a car on a bridge or use a roadway shoulder as a tripod position. Walk or cycle to a lawful viewing area.
- Kaseya Center: event security controls where tripods and large bags can go. Keep gates, stairs, ramps and rideshare lanes clear.
Miami’s dry season (roughly November–April) is comfortable for long outdoor sessions, but spring-break crowds are heavy from mid-March into April and Art Basel Miami Beach brings major crowds in early December. Coastal parks can close for weather or special events, so have a second viewpoint ready.

How can I combine the rooftop sign, Brickell and Wynwood in one day?
- Morning in Wynwood: start at 400 NW 26th Street for the Queen Andrea mural while sidewalks are relatively quiet. If the campus is open, continue to Wynwood Walls after 10:30 a.m.; otherwise photograph the surrounding street walls and return during museum hours.
- Midday transfer to Brickell: visit The Underline Urban Gym between SW 7th and SW 8th Streets. Photograph the banners in daylight for color accuracy, then plan a return after dark if the court-light look is your priority.
- Late afternoon downtown: reach Bayfront Park or another selected skyline viewpoint at least 30 minutes before the calculated sunset. Set focal length, focus and framing before the nine-to-10-minute blue hour begins.
- Night extension: stay for the pink Kaseya facade and screen, or move to a second legal waterfront position if the first view is blocked. Do not chase a closer roof angle by entering restricted property.
If your priority is classic 1980s Miami Vice television atmosphere rather than GTA 6, treat that as a separate subject: Ocean Drive’s pale Art Deco facades photograph best in early morning, ideally before 8 a.m., while neon is a different after-dark scene. It does not provide a closer view of the GTA sign.
What should I verify before leaving for the shoot?
- Use the NOAA calculator for that date’s sunset and blue-hour times, not an October estimate.
- Check the current Kaseya Center and HEAT event pages for games, security restrictions and tour details.
- Confirm Wynwood Walls’ hours, admission rules and whether the campus mural is still displayed.
- Look at weather radar, lightning alerts and park notices; hurricane-season closures can be sudden.
- Search recent local posts for temporary banners, buses and beach furniture, because campaign pieces move.
- Carry a long lens for the roof, a stable support, spare batteries and lens cloths for humidity or spray.
- Respect private property, active recreation, traffic laws and people who happen to be in the frame.
The best plan is therefore two-part: use a permitted public skyline or bay view for the rooftop letters at blue hour and night, then use Brickell or Wynwood for close, walk-up lettering. That combination gives you a sharp record of the temporary GTA 6 campaign without relying on unconfirmed roof access.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reserve a boat or helicopter to get closer to the Kaseya Center sign?
No documented public program guarantees a boat, helicopter or aircraft route for a close-up. Treat any water or flight view as a normal public sightline and follow operator, airport and airspace rules rather than arranging a special approach around the sign.
Are the Wynwood GTA 6 murals still free to photograph if I skip the museum?
The neighborhood walls, including the Queen Andrea lettering, are viewable from public streets without a museum ticket. Admission applies to the Wynwood Walls campus; Miami-Dade residents can use the museum’s free digital membership with qualifying photo ID, while other visitors should check the current adult price.
What happens if rain ruins the blue-hour skyline session?
Use the delay to photograph the covered or street-level pieces in Brickell and Wynwood, then return to a park only after checking closure notices and lightning conditions. Wet pavement can add reflections, but safety and park rules take priority over a single exposure.
