First confirm that your exact drone, controller and DJI Fly version support livestreaming; then connect the app to the internet, get the destination’s RTMP server URL and stream key, and enter them in DJI Fly. DJI RC does not support DJI Fly livestreaming, and some controller/app combinations require a plugged-in microphone.
Check your drone, controller and app before setup
Livestream support depends on the aircraft-controller pairing and DJI Fly version, not just the drone model. DJI’s DJI Fly App Livestream Operation Guides state that the feature is supported in DJI Fly v1.4.12 and later, but that does not mean every pairing or destination platform is supported.

- DJI RC: DJI says this controller does not support livestreaming through DJI Fly.
- DJI RC 2: DJI documents RTMP and Douyin support with compatible aircraft after updating to DJI Fly v1.15.8. Before that, the guide says only RTMP livestreaming was supported.
- DJI RC-N3, DJI RC-N2 or DJI RC-N1: DJI documents RTMP support with other aircraft, subject to the exact pairing.
- DJI RC 2, DJI RC Pro or DJI Smart Controller with DJI Fly v1.16.0 or later: DJI says a microphone must be plugged in to start a livestream. The guide does not specify compatible microphone models or connectors, so check compatibility with your controller before buying.
For a model-specific example, DJI’s Mini 4 Pro support page lists DJI RC-N2 and DJI RC 2 as compatible controllers and identifies DJI Fly as the app. The Mini 4 Pro downloads page listed DJI Fly v1.21.12 when checked and stated iOS 13.0 or later was required, with iPhone 11 or newer recommended. App versions and device requirements can change; verify the current information on the Mini 4 Pro downloads page and your aircraft’s support page.
What you need from the streaming platform
DJI Fly’s RTMP option needs the destination platform’s RTMP server address and stream key. You must also have permission to livestream on that platform; DJI notes that without the required permission, the platform may not provide the credentials.

- Confirm that the platform accepts an external RTMP stream and that your account is allowed to go live.
- Find the platform’s server URL and stream key in its live-streaming settings.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your account.
A platform appearing in its own mobile livestream app does not prove it accepts external RTMP input. If you cannot find RTMP settings, ask the platform whether it supports RTMP ingest and how an eligible account obtains its server URL and key.
Set up the RTMP stream in DJI Fly
- Update DJI Fly and connect it to the internet. Install the version supported by your setup and make sure the phone or controller has Wi-Fi or mobile-data access.
- Enable livestreaming with the destination platform. Confirm the account has permission and retrieve the RTMP server URL and stream key.
- Power on and connect the equipment. Start the drone and controller and connect them to DJI Fly. With a controller that has no integrated screen, connect the phone and controller using a data cable. DJI says this phone connection step can be omitted for built-in-screen controllers such as DJI RC Pro and DJI Smart Controller.
- Open the RTMP settings. In DJI Fly’s flight view, select Transmission > Live Streaming Platforms > RTMP.
- Enter the server URL and stream key. Put a slash between the URL and key unless the server URL already ends with one. Check both values carefully before starting.
- Choose the available resolution and bitrate, then tap Start. DJI describes a countdown before the stream begins. A red icon in the camera view indicates a successful connection to the platform.

DJI’s guide lists 1080p and 720p livestream resolutions. Some controller/version combinations are limited to 720p: DJI RC 2 and DJI RC Pro 2 support only 720p, and DJI says DJI RC Pro updated to DJI Fly v1.18.0 also supports only 720p.

DJI says bitrate options depend on the video-transmission frame rate and cannot be freely adjusted. The values are choices shown by the app, not a guarantee of the quality viewers will receive; the internet connection and platform also affect delivery.

Before takeoff, verify platform access and your connection. DJI’s guidance recommends a stable internet connection, monitoring battery level and signal strength while streaming, and planning a flight path around obstacles. These checks reduce avoidable interruptions but cannot guarantee a particular stream quality.

- Check battery, controller signal and mobile-data or Wi-Fi access before starting.
- Plan the flight path with obstacles and a safe landing in mind; do not focus on the stream at the expense of flying safely.
- Follow local drone-flight, privacy and broadcasting requirements. Livestreaming support in DJI Fly does not replace applicable flight permissions or legal obligations.
Troubleshoot common setup failures
