To leave the Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta, back up the phone, then open Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub. Tap Check Version, choose Request Rollback, select Go to Rollback, acknowledge that the phone will be erased, and tap Confirm & Rollback. Nothing then sends you to System updates to download and install the downgrade over the air.
This rollback is destructive: Nothing says all phone data is erased. If you can wait for the tested version’s general stable release, the normal stable OTA is the safer route because beta users receive it without first leaving the Open Beta. The correct path also depends on whether you joined through Nothing Beta Hub or Google’s Android Beta Program.

How do I leave Nothing OS beta?
For the current Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta flow, use Nothing Beta Hub V2.0 on the phone itself. The hub authorizes a rollback, and the actual downgrade is delivered as a system OTA update rather than a manually installed package.
Prepare the phone before requesting a rollback
- Back up photos and videos.
- Back up contacts.
- Back up messages and call logs.
- Confirm that anything stored only on the phone has been copied somewhere you can restore from after setup.
Nothing’s rollback confirmation explicitly warns that all data will be erased and asks you to confirm that the phone has been backed up. Treat the process like a factory-reset-level operation, not a routine software update.

Follow the exact rollback sequence
- Open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Open Nothing Beta Hub.
- Tap Check Version.
- If the device is eligible, tap Request Rollback.
- When Request Successful appears, tap OK.
- Within the request’s validity period, tap Go to Rollback.
- Read the warning and confirm that you understand the phone’s data will be erased.
- Tap Confirm & Rollback.
- Follow the redirect to System updates, then download and install the downgrade OTA.
Nothing describes this as an OTA rollback: you no longer need to find and manually flash a rollback package. The phone’s own update screen supplies the downgrade after the request is accepted.
What does Nothing Beta Hub V2.0 do?
Nothing Beta Hub is the eligibility and authorization screen for this Open Beta. Nothing requires the current V2.0 hub for the present rollback flow; older hub versions are not supported.
How long is a rollback request valid?
A successful request remains valid for 48 hours. Nothing says synchronization can take up to five minutes. A “Request Successful” message therefore authorizes the next stage; it does not mean the downgrade has already installed.
Use Go to Rollback during that 48-hour window. If the authorization expires, return to Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub, run Check Version again, and submit a new request when the option is offered.
Can I return to stable software without losing data?
There are two different ways to get back to a stable build, and they have different data consequences. The comparison below applies to the enrollment source and release state described by Nothing and Google; it is not a promise that every device will show the same options.
| Path | Where you start | Data outcome | When it is available | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nothing Beta Hub rollback | Settings > System > Nothing Beta Hub | Nothing says the phone is erased | Only when the hub marks the device eligible; the request lasts 48 hours | You need to leave the Open Beta before the normal stable release |
| Normal stable OTA | Settings > System > System update | Nothing says beta users receive the general stable release as a normal OTA, without leaving first | After the general stable release for the tested version is published | You want to keep the phone’s local data and can wait |
| Google Android Beta opt-out | Google’s Android Beta Program portal | Google normally requires a wipe when applying the stable update; a limited post-release period may allow opting out without one | Only for devices enrolled through Google’s program | Your beta enrollment came from Google rather than Nothing Beta Hub |
If preserving local data is the priority and the stable release is already arriving for your tested version, accepting the regular stable OTA is the lower-risk choice. Nothing’s rollback flow is for situations in which you need to leave earlier and accept the erase.

Why is “Request Rollback” missing?
The button is eligibility-based. Nothing’s public instructions do not define one universal rollback build number for every phone, so the device’s own Beta Hub determines whether the action appears.
Check the supported hub version
Install or update to Nothing Beta Hub V2.0, then reopen the hub and tap Check Version. An older hub can prevent the current flow from being recognized.
Refresh eligibility
Close and reopen the hub, run Check Version, and wait for the result. If a previous request was made more than 48 hours ago, it may have expired; submit another request instead of trying to reuse the old confirmation.
Use the system-update screen after approval
Once the hub reports a successful request, continue through Go to Rollback. The downgrade is offered in Settings > System > System update, not as a separate file you download from a web page.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If V2.0 is installed and repeated checks still do not show rollback eligibility, the available official information does not establish a universal workaround. It means the phone or tested build is not currently being offered the rollback action through the supported flow.
How do I install the downgrade OTA safely?
Nothing Support directs users to the system-update screen, to download over Wi-Fi, and to avoid interacting with the phone while installation is in progress.

- Connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network before downloading.
- Start the offered downgrade download and installation.
- Do not press the power button or take other actions during the upgrade process.
- Allow the phone to complete the process and return to the system normally before beginning setup and restoration.
Do not treat a quiet screen or a long installation phase as an invitation to interrupt it. Nothing’s support guidance specifically says to avoid pressing the power button or taking actions during the upgrade.
What if the rollback request expires or appears stuck?
The 48-hour window has passed
Return to Nothing Beta Hub, tap Check Version, and request rollback again if the option is available. An expired authorization is not the same as a failed installation; it simply needs to be renewed.
The request was just submitted
Nothing says synchronization can take up to five minutes. Wait for that period, then check the hub and the system-update screen rather than submitting repeated requests immediately.
The downgrade does not appear in System update
Verify that the successful request was made in the current hub, that you are still inside the 48-hour validity period, and that you followed Go to Rollback. Then open Settings > System > System update manually. If the request has expired, repeat the eligibility check and authorization.
The installation is running
Leave the phone alone. Do not press the power button or perform other actions while the OTA is downloading or installing. Nothing’s instructions do not provide a supported interruption or cancellation procedure once installation is underway.
What if I joined the beta through Google’s Android Beta Program?
Google’s enrollment path is separate from Nothing Beta Hub. If the phone was enrolled on Google’s Android Beta Program portal, open that portal, select the enrolled device, and choose the opt-out action there.

Google warns that opting out and reverting to a stable public Android version normally requires wiping locally saved data. There is a limited period after the final public release of the tested version during which opting out can avoid a wipe; outside that period, applying the stable update requires the wipe. Google’s wording is explicit: you cannot generally unenroll and revert to stable software without first wiping locally saved data.
Do not use the Nothing Beta Hub instructions as a substitute for Google’s portal process. First identify where the enrollment was created, then follow the matching provider’s controls.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should I roll back now or wait for the stable release?
Use the following decision points before confirming an erase:
- Need stable software immediately: use the Nothing Beta Hub rollback if the phone is eligible and you have completed a backup.
- Want to preserve local data: wait for the general stable release for the tested version and install it as a normal OTA when it appears.
- Joined through Google: use Google’s Android Beta Program opt-out rules, including its limited post-release no-wipe period when applicable.
- No rollback button: update to Nothing Beta Hub V2.0, run Check Version, and account for the five-minute synchronization period and 48-hour request expiry.
The choice is therefore not simply “beta versus stable.” It is a trade-off among data preservation, device eligibility, timing, and the service through which the phone entered beta.

What should I expect after the phone returns to stable software?
The rollback process erases the phone, so the first boot should be treated as a fresh setup. Restore the data you backed up, sign in to the accounts you use, and check Settings > System > System update for any follow-up stable updates offered to the device.
Nothing’s published instructions do not promise that every app, setting, message database, or call-log backup will restore automatically. Your ability to recover those items depends on what you backed up before confirming the rollback and on the restore options available during setup.
Best Value
What the official instructions do—and do not—establish
- The current Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta rollback is initiated from Nothing Beta Hub V2.0.
- The request can take up to five minutes to synchronize and remains valid for 48 hours.
- The downgrade is delivered through System update as an OTA.
- Nothing states that rollback erases phone data.
- Nothing does not publish one rollback build number that applies universally to every Nothing phone.
- Google’s Android Beta enrollment has its own opt-out process and wipe rules.
These limits matter when troubleshooting: a missing option or different screen can reflect device- and version-specific eligibility rather than a mistake in the general procedure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a computer or a manually downloaded rollback file?
No. Nothing’s current process is phone-based: the Beta Hub authorizes the action and the downgrade is delivered through the device’s System update screen. The official wording says users no longer need to manually download a rollback package.
What does “Request Successful” actually mean?
It confirms that the rollback request has synchronized; it is not confirmation that the phone has already reverted. You still have to use Go to Rollback within the authorization window and complete the OTA installation.
Can I cancel after I tap Confirm & Rollback?
Nothing’s public instructions do not describe a supported cancellation step after confirmation. Because the flow is designed to erase the phone and start a downgrade, finish the backup before confirming rather than relying on a later undo option.
Will my apps and settings definitely come back after the downgrade?
Nothing does not guarantee automatic restoration of apps, settings, messages, or call logs. Recovery depends on the backups you made and the restore choices available during the phone’s fresh setup.
