How do I run the Windows Update troubleshooter?

Windows 11
- Open the automated Windows Update troubleshooter in the Get Help app when Windows offers it.

How do I clear the Windows Update cache safely?

- Restart the computer, open Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Windows recreates the cache data as it checks for updates. The first scan after this reset can take longer because update metadata must be downloaded again.
Could an incorrect clock cause the failure?
A wrong system clock can interfere with update communication and certificate validation, so verify it before deeper repairs. This check is quick and does not alter personal files.
- On Windows 11, open Settings > Time & language > Date & time. On Windows 10, open Settings > Time & Language > Date & time.
- Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically when those switches are available.
- Select Sync now (or the equivalent synchronization control), then close Settings.
- Restart Windows and run Check for updates again.
How do I use SFC and DISM for a persistent update error?
System File Checker (SFC) and the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool are built-in diagnostics. They can identify and repair Windows component problems, but the presence of 0x80006358 does not prove that corruption is the cause.
Run DISM from an elevated Command Prompt
