Windows 11
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices, then Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected printer and choose Remove.
- Restart the PC if Windows requests it, or restart it before adding the printer again if the old entry will not disappear.
- Return to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners and select Add device.
- Choose the discovered printer. If it is not listed, select the option to add it manually and follow the connection instructions for USB, network, or Bluetooth.
Windows 10
- Open Settings.
- Go to Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the printer, choose Remove device, and confirm.
- Restart the PC if necessary.
- Choose Add a printer or scanner and select the device when it appears. Use the manual-add option if automatic discovery does not find it.
After re-adding the device, print a test page. A printer that reappears but immediately goes offline usually needs a connection check, a queue reset, or a correct model-specific driver.

How do I restart Print Spooler and clear a stuck queue?
Print Spooler manages queued Windows print jobs. Restarting it can recover jobs that never leave “printing” or a printer that disappears after a queue failure.
Restart Spooler from Services
- Press Windows key + R, type
services.msc, and press Enter. - Find Print Spooler in the list.

Clear the spool folder when jobs will not clear
Use this procedure only when ordinary queue cancellation fails. You need an administrator account, and clearing the folder removes every queued job on that PC.
- Open
services.mscand stop Print Spooler. - Open File Explorer and enter
%WINDIR%system32spoolPRINTERSin the address bar. - Delete the files inside that folder, not the folder itself. If Windows says a file is in use, confirm that Print Spooler is stopped and try again.
- Return to
services.mscand start Print Spooler. - Restart the PC, reconnect or re-add the printer if it is still missing, and submit a new test page.
An administrator Command Prompt can perform the same sequence with net stop spooler, deleting the contents of %WINDIR%system32spoolPRINTERS, and then net start spooler. Do not delete files elsewhere in the Windows directory.
