Separate an application failure from a Windows failure
Test whether other applications work normally. Review Event Viewer
- Open Event Viewer and inspect entries recorded at the exact time of the failure.
- Note the event source, event ID, level, and any referenced file, service, or device.
- Compare the event with the application’s own log if the message came from a specific program.
Use the records to decide whether a driver should be updated, reinstalled, or rolled back. If the logs do not implicate a driver, do not change unrelated drivers merely because the hexadecimal code looks technical.
