To pair the Fyne Audio Cubitt 5, use its supplied remote: select the Bluetooth input, then press and hold PAIRING for around three seconds until the primary speaker’s LED flashes blue. On your phone, tablet, or computer, choose FYNE AUDIO CUBITT 5; the LED turns solid blue when pairing succeeds. If pairing fails, first check the remote, then reset Bluetooth connections and try again.
What do the Cubitt 5’s Bluetooth lights mean?
The primary speaker’s LED gives you a quick way to tell whether the speaker is discoverable or already paired. Use the remote to select Bluetooth before trying to enter pairing mode.

- Flashing blue: the speaker is in Bluetooth pairing mode and should appear in your source device’s Bluetooth scan.
- Solid blue: pairing has completed.
If the LED does not respond when you press the remote, check the remote before troubleshooting the phone or computer. The Cubitt 5’s controls, including Bluetooth pairing and reset, are operated from the supplied remote rather than an app.
How do I put the Cubitt 5 into Bluetooth pairing mode?
With the primary speaker powered on, select its Bluetooth input using the remote, then hold PAIRING for around three seconds. Start a Bluetooth scan on your source device while the LED flashes blue.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Make sure the primary speaker is powered on and the remote can point toward it with a clear line of sight.
- Use the remote to select the Bluetooth input.
- Press and hold PAIRING for around three seconds. Watch for the primary speaker’s LED to flash blue.
- On your phone, tablet, or computer, turn on Bluetooth and scan for nearby devices.
- Select FYNE AUDIO CUBITT 5 from the list. A solid blue LED indicates pairing has succeeded.
The name to select is FYNE AUDIO CUBITT 5. If it does not appear, make sure the LED is flashing blue; simply selecting the Bluetooth input does not itself put the speaker into pairing mode.
What should I check if the remote does not work?
The remote is needed to start and reset Bluetooth pairing, so check it first if the speaker does not respond to button presses. The supplied remote uses two AAA batteries.

Once the speaker responds to the remote, select Bluetooth and repeat the pairing steps. A phone-side Bluetooth scan cannot substitute for putting the speaker into pairing mode with the remote.

How do I reset Bluetooth connections on the Cubitt 5?
If an old phone or computer keeps reconnecting, the speaker appears unavailable, or a new device repeatedly fails to pair, use the remote to reset Bluetooth connections while the Bluetooth input is selected. Then scan for the speaker and pair again.
- Select the Bluetooth input on the Cubitt 5 with the remote.
- Press and hold the remote’s PAIRING button again to reset Bluetooth connections.
- On the device you want to use, open its Bluetooth settings and scan for nearby devices.
- Select FYNE AUDIO CUBITT 5 and check that the LED turns solid blue.
This is the relevant reset for Bluetooth connection trouble; it is different from changing the input or restarting a scan on the phone. If the LED never flashes blue during the attempt, go back to the remote and battery checks.
Why is the Cubitt 5 paired but not playing sound?
A solid blue LED indicates pairing, but does not by itself confirm that audio is reaching both speakers. Check the source volume, speaker power, and the wired connection between the primary and secondary speakers.

- Confirm speaker power: make sure the Cubitt 5 is powered on.
- Inspect the speaker link: check that the cable connecting the primary and secondary speakers is fully inserted and locked.
These checks help separate a Bluetooth pairing problem from a playback or speaker-link problem. If the LED is solid blue, repeat pairing only if you have reason to believe the connection itself has failed.
Which troubleshooting step should I try first?
Use the observed symptom to avoid repeating steps that have already succeeded. In particular, distinguish an unresponsive remote, an undiscoverable speaker, a failed connection, and a silent playback path.
| What you observe | What to check or do |
|---|---|
| The speaker does not react to remote buttons | Point the remote at the primary speaker, check AAA battery polarity, and replace the two batteries if needed. |
| The speaker does not appear in the Bluetooth scan | Select Bluetooth with the remote, hold PAIRING for around three seconds, and scan while the LED flashes blue. |
| An old device keeps reconnecting or a new one cannot pair | With Bluetooth selected, hold PAIRING to reset Bluetooth connections, then scan and select FYNE AUDIO CUBITT 5 again. |
| The LED is solid blue but there is no sound | Raise the source volume, confirm the speaker is powered, and check that the primary-to-secondary cable is fully inserted and locked. |
When should I use the USB port or check firmware?
The Cubitt 5’s USB port is for firmware updates, not audio playback. Check for an update only when directed to do so by Fyne Audio, and use firmware supplied on its support site.

Fyne Audio’s stated update procedure is to download an available update to a FAT32-formatted USB stick, remove power from the speaker, insert the stick, and restore power. A blue LED flash indicates the update. This procedure is not a Bluetooth reset or a way to play audio through USB.
Which Bluetooth formats and other specifications matter?
The Cubitt 5 supports Bluetooth 5.0, aptX HD, and AAC. These capabilities describe supported Bluetooth formats; they do not change the remote-based pairing steps above.
| Specification | Fyne Audio figure |
|---|---|
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth 5.0, aptX HD, and AAC |
| Maximum digital resolution | 24-bit/96 kHz |
| Automatic standby | Approximately 20 minutes without a signal |
| Universal mains input | 100–240 volts |
These specifications are not additional pairing controls: pairing is initiated from the remote, and connection status is indicated by the primary speaker’s LED.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the Cubitt 5’s USB port to play audio?
No. The USB port is for firmware updates, not audio playback. Bluetooth pairing uses the remote and the speaker’s Bluetooth input.
Does the Cubitt 5 support aptX HD?
Yes. Fyne Audio lists Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD and AAC support. The source device also needs to support a codec for it to be used.
Does automatic standby erase Bluetooth pairings?
Fyne Audio specifies automatic standby after approximately 20 minutes without a signal, but that specification does not say that standby clears saved Bluetooth connections. The documented Bluetooth reset is a separate action performed with the remote while the Bluetooth input is selected.
