Letterboxd does not provide a native “Export to PDF” button. Its documented account export is a ZIP archive of CSV files, so the most complete method is to export the data, format the list or diary in a spreadsheet, and export that sheet as a PDF. For a short, already-loaded page, you can instead use your desktop browser’s Print → Save as PDF command. Use the browser method for a quick handout; use the CSV method for a long list, a full diary or anything you need to archive.
How do I save a Letterboxd list or diary as a PDF from the web page?
For a short public page, desktop-browser printing is the fastest route. It preserves the site’s visual layout, but it can omit entries that are still loading or hidden by filters.

- Sign in and open the exact list or diary. If the page is private, remain signed in to the account that can view it.
- Load every row you need. Scroll through the page until additional entries stop appearing. Remove filters, sorting limits or search terms that hide rows.

Ctrl+Pon Windows/Linux orCmd+Pon macOS. - Choose a PDF destination. Select Save as PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF, depending on the operating system.
- Set the page layout. Choose portrait for narrow diary columns or landscape for lists with ratings, tags and notes. Adjust scale and margins until titles and dates fit. Turn on Background graphics only when poster images or colored styling are important.
- Save and inspect the file. Check the first, a middle page and the last page. Look for missing rows, clipped columns, blank poster areas and unexpected filter results.
When is browser printing a poor choice?
Long pages are less reliable because the site may paginate results, lazy-load rows or apply a filter that is easy to overlook. A printout also reflects the page’s current layout rather than giving you a clean, sortable data table. If the PDF is an archive, a complete diary, or a document someone else must read, use the official CSV export instead.
How do I create a complete PDF from Letterboxd’s official data export?
The CSV route takes a few more minutes but gives you control over completeness and presentation. Keep the original ZIP as a backup, work on a copy of the CSV, and use a spreadsheet application such as Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice Calc.
- Request the account export. In Letterboxd, open Settings, go to the Data area and choose the account-export option. The exact wording can vary slightly by interface version. Letterboxd describes the result as a single ZIP containing CSV documents for account data.
- Download and preserve the ZIP. Store the untouched archive somewhere safe. Extract a working copy into a new folder so you can return to the original if a spreadsheet edit goes wrong.
- Identify the relevant CSV. A list export and diary-related export may be separate files. Open the files in a spreadsheet and use the actual column names supplied by the export rather than assuming a fixed schema.
- Choose reader-facing columns. For a list, useful fields commonly include film title, year, rating, position, tags and notes when present. For a diary, useful fields commonly include film title, watched date, rating, rewatch flag, review and tags when present.
- Add document metadata. Insert a title such as the list or diary name, the account or profile name if appropriate, the export date and a short note that the PDF was generated from Letterboxd CSV data.
- Format for paper or screens. Use landscape for wide tables, wrap long reviews and notes, repeat the header row on every page, and fit columns to one page wide where practical. Insert page breaks between major sections or years when that improves navigation.
- Export the sheet. Choose the spreadsheet’s Export as PDF, Download as PDF or Print to PDF command. Set the print area so unused columns and blank rows are excluded.
- Verify the finished PDF. Open it in a PDF viewer, search for a known film near the end of the dataset, and check that the expected row count, dates, titles and notes are present.
Which columns should a list PDF contain?
A practical list handout usually starts with position, film title and year. Add rating, tags and notes when those fields exist and are useful to the recipient. If the list is being used as a reading or viewing checklist, leave enough width for notes rather than shrinking every column until the text is unreadable.
Which columns should a diary PDF contain?
Keep film title and the recorded watched date, then add rating, rewatch status, review and tags when available. If reviews are lengthy, a two-part layout can work better: a compact table followed by wrapped review pages, with a film title repeated above each review.

How should I handle watched films that were not logged to the Diary?
Letterboxd distinguishes between marking a film as watched and logging it to the Diary. If a film was marked watched instead of logged, activity dates can still appear in the account-export bundle. Letterboxd’s help guidance refers to a relevant CSV Date column that can be renamed to Watched Date for importing; for a PDF, retain that field and label it clearly.
Do not manufacture a date when no activity date was recorded. A watched mark without a usable date cannot be reconstructed reliably, so leave the date blank or explain its absence in a note rather than presenting an estimate as fact.

How do I make the spreadsheet PDF readable?
Good PDF output is mostly a print-layout problem. Before exporting, review the sheet in print-preview mode rather than relying only on the normal grid view.

- Set a clear title: include the list or diary name and the date the export was prepared.
- Repeat headers: configure the first row as a print title so every page identifies each column.
- Use landscape for wide data: ratings, tags, notes and review text often need more horizontal space.
- Wrap text selectively: wrap reviews and notes, but avoid making short title and year columns unnecessarily tall.
- Control page breaks: separate years or major list sections when a break would prevent confusing split rows.
- Keep titles intact: widen the film-title column or enable wrapping; do not rely on truncation.
- Add page numbers: they make a multi-page diary easier to reference and verify.
- Choose whether to include links or posters: hyperlinks and poster images are optional. Include them only when they serve the document’s purpose and survive the export cleanly.
What privacy checks should I perform before sharing the PDF?
Public Letterboxd content can be viewed by visitors, but private lists are not publicly visible. A PDF is a separate copy, so its recipient may see information that was not intended for them if you export it without review.
- Remove private notes, account identifiers, email addresses and personal ratings that the recipient should not see.
- Confirm that the list or diary contains the intended account and date range.
- Use one consistent date format and timezone throughout the sheet.
- Search the PDF for a known title near the end to confirm that the full dataset is present.
- Inspect page edges for clipped film titles, notes or columns.
- Open the PDF on another device or in another viewer if the document is important; rendering differences can expose layout problems.
What can go wrong, and how do I fix it?
The PDF stops halfway through the list
The page may not have loaded all rows, or the print range may cover only the visible section. Return to the page, remove filters, scroll until all rows load, or switch to the CSV export and verify the final film in the spreadsheet before exporting.
Rows are missing after printing
Check for pagination, collapsed sections and active search or sort filters. Browser printing captures the rendered page, not an unrequested data set; the CSV route is safer when every row matters.
Columns are cut off
Change the sheet to landscape, reduce margins, wrap long text and fit the print area to one page wide where practical. Avoid reducing the scale so far that titles become unreadable.

Poster areas are blank
Images may not have loaded before printing, or background graphics may be disabled. Wait for the page to finish loading and enable background graphics if the posters are essential. For a data-first PDF, omit posters and keep a clean text table.
The diary has a watched film but no date
Look for the activity date in the account-export files and retain it as a clearly labeled watched-date field. If no date was recorded, do not infer one from the export order or from memory.
The ZIP contains more data than I want to publish
That is expected for an account export. Work from a copy, select only the list or diary columns needed for the document, and remove private fields before generating the PDF.
The PDF looks different in another viewer
Reopen the spreadsheet’s print preview, embed the intended page size and margins, and check the exported file rather than the editable sheet. A final inspection of the first, middle and last pages catches most rendering surprises.

How can I verify that the exported PDF is complete?
Use a repeatable check instead of judging the first page alone.
- Record the expected scope: list name or diary period, filters and approximate number of entries.
- Check the first page for the correct title, account context and column headings.
- Search for a film you know should appear near the end of the list or date range.
- Inspect a middle page for wrapped text, repeated headers and page breaks.
- Confirm that dates use one format and that watched-only entries are labeled accurately.
- Review the last page for truncated rows or an accidentally excluded print range.

Does the Letterboxd account export include deleted content?
Letterboxd describes the account export as covering the entire account, including deleted content and reviews for deleted films, in the ZIP of CSV documents. That means the archive can contain more material than the one list or diary you intend to publish, so select the final PDF fields carefully.
Can I edit a CSV and import it back into Letterboxd?
Letterboxd’s import documentation says members can import data directly to a new or existing list or watchlist using CSV. Keep an untouched copy of the export before editing, because a PDF layout sheet is not automatically the same as an import-ready file.

What should I do if my PDF needs a different date range later?
Keep the original ZIP and a clean working copy of the CSV. You can then create a new spreadsheet view filtered to the required dates without having to repeat the account-export request.
Can a PDF show private Letterboxd material safely?
Yes, but treat the file as a separate disclosure: anyone who receives it can read whatever you leave in the document, even if the source list is private. Remove identifying fields and private notes before sending or uploading the PDF.
