The best way to deploy Anthropic Claude is to use the cloud where your organization’s identity, data-residency, compliance, and billing controls already live. Amazon Bedrock gives you an AWS-operated Claude path through Bedrock’s Converse and InvokeModel APIs. Google Cloud Agent Platform exposes Claude as a fully managed, serverless API. Microsoft Foundry requires an Azure resource and a model deployment, then offers Azure-hosted or Anthropic-hosted options through an Anthropic-compatible Messages endpoint.

Those choices are not interchangeable. They differ in who operates inference, which API your application calls, how authentication works, where requests may be processed, how quotas are assigned, and which compliance programs apply. Use the deployment playbook below to select a route and move from account setup to a controlled production launch.

What changes when you deploy Claude through a cloud provider?

A managed Claude deployment is more than an API key. Your provider determines the control plane used to create access, the identity system that authorizes requests, the endpoint and API format, the regions or data zones available, the party operating the model service, and the way usage is metered. Decide those properties before writing application code, because changing providers can require authentication, endpoint, model-name, and observability changes.

Route Inference and hosting model API surface Identity Capacity and billing
Amazon Bedrock AWS-operated inference; AWS is the sole data processor for this route Bedrock Converse and InvokeModel APIs AWS IAM and Signature Version 4 AWS-managed quotas and pricing
Claude Platform on AWS Anthropic-operated service accessed through AWS Anthropic Messages API AWS IAM/Signature Version 4 or an Anthropic API key Quotas managed by Anthropic
Google Cloud Agent Platform Fully managed, serverless Claude API; no customer-managed model-serving infrastructure Agent Platform API, including server-sent-event streaming Google Cloud project and endpoint controls Pay as you go or fixed-fee provisioned throughput
Microsoft Foundry Azure-hosted Anthropic service or Anthropic-hosted service, selected per deployment Anthropic-compatible Messages endpoint Azure API key or Microsoft Entra ID Azure Marketplace and Claude Consumption Units

Provider catalogs, model identifiers, regional availability, quotas, pricing, and preview labels change. Check the current console and documentation immediately before production; Google’s Claude page was last updated on October 22, 2026 UTC.

Which cloud is best for Claude?

There is no universal winner. Choose the route whose operator, identity model, geography, compliance boundary, and API fit your requirements rather than choosing by brand familiarity.

Choose Amazon Bedrock when AWS must operate inference

Bedrock is the clearest fit when your organization requires AWS-operated inference, AWS as the sole data processor, or AWS compliance coverage. AWS specifically lists eligibility such as FedRAMP High, IL4, IL5, SOC, ISO, and HIPAA programs for applicable services and configurations. Your application uses AWS-native authorization and Bedrock APIs, and quotas are managed in the AWS environment.

Choose Claude Platform on AWS when Anthropic platform features are the priority

This is a separate Anthropic-operated offering reached through AWS. It is appropriate when you need Anthropic’s platform API or features on a short timeline and do not require the AWS-operated inference or standard AWS compliance scope of Bedrock. AWS states that this third-party offering is outside standard AWS compliance programs, so your organization must perform its own due diligence.

Choose Google Cloud Agent Platform for a serverless Google control plane

Google Cloud documents Claude on Agent Platform as fully managed and serverless. You do not provision model-serving machines, and Google offers either consumption billing or provisioned throughput. This route is attractive when your project, IAM, networking, and operational tooling are already in Google Cloud.

Choose Microsoft Foundry when Azure governance or Entra ID is central

Foundry separates a resource, which holds security and billing configuration, from deployments, which are the callable model instances. It supports API-key and Microsoft Entra ID authentication, optional Azure Virtual Network restrictions, and a choice between Azure-hosted and Anthropic-hosted Claude deployments.

How do I deploy Claude on Amazon Bedrock?

Use the Bedrock Console and AWS IAM to enable a supported Claude model in a selected region, then call it with Converse or InvokeModel. The exact model ID, access workflow, inference-profile requirements, and regional availability must be verified in the current AWS catalog because they change over time.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Before you start

  • An AWS account with permission to use Amazon Bedrock in the target region.
  • A workload identity, role, or user that can invoke only the required Bedrock resources.
  • A decision about whether your application will use Converse, which provides a standardized conversational interface, or InvokeModel, which exposes model-specific request formats.
  • A region and model or inference profile that are currently supported for your account and workload.

Deployment sequence

  1. Select the AWS region. Choose a region that satisfies your contractual and latency requirements, then confirm that the desired Claude model or inference profile is available there.
  2. Enable model access where required. In the Bedrock Console, open the model-access area and follow the current approval or enablement workflow for the Claude model. Some catalogs and accounts may expose models immediately; others may require an explicit request.
  3. Create least-privilege IAM permissions. Grant the calling role only the Bedrock actions and resources it needs. Use separate roles for development, staging, and production, and avoid embedding long-lived credentials in application code.
  4. Choose the invocation identifier. Pin the current model ID or inference-profile identifier supported in the selected region. Do not assume that a model alias, preview label, or identifier from another region will work unchanged.
  5. Call Claude through Bedrock. Configure the AWS SDK or HTTP client for the region and IAM/Signature Version 4 authentication, then send requests through Converse or InvokeModel. Keep the model identifier in configuration so it can be changed without a code release.
  6. Instrument the workload. Record request failures, throttling, latency, input and output token usage, and spend. Set timeouts and bounded retries, and make retry behavior aware of throttling so a traffic spike does not create a retry storm.
  7. Validate the production boundary. Confirm CloudTrail and application logs do not retain sensitive prompts unexpectedly, verify the selected region, and test behavior when the account quota is exhausted.

What to monitor on Bedrock

  • Regional throttling and account or model quotas.
  • Latency by operation, model identifier, and request size.
  • Input and output token consumption and the resulting AWS bill.
  • Access-denied errors caused by IAM policy, region, or resource mismatches.
  • Model deprecations, preview changes, and altered access requirements.

Is Claude Platform on AWS the same as Amazon Bedrock?

No. They are separate offerings with different operators, APIs, quotas, and compliance implications, even though both are reached through AWS infrastructure and can use AWS identity.

Property Amazon Bedrock Claude Platform on AWS
Service operator AWS Anthropic
API Bedrock Converse and InvokeModel Anthropic Messages API
Authentication AWS IAM and Signature Version 4 AWS IAM/Signature Version 4 or Anthropic API key
Quota owner AWS Anthropic
Endpoint pattern Bedrock regional endpoint selected by the AWS SDK or API Anthropic base URL under aws-external-anthropic.{region}.api.aws
Compliance position AWS compliance coverage may apply according to the service and configuration Outside standard AWS compliance programs; customer due diligence is required

Choose Claude Platform on AWS only after confirming that its Anthropic-operated model service and compliance position meet your organization’s requirements. Do not assume that placing the request in an AWS account makes the service equivalent to Bedrock.

How do I use Claude through Google Cloud Agent Platform?

In Google Cloud, create or select a project, enable the relevant Agent Platform services and permissions, choose a Claude model in Model Garden, and send requests to the managed API endpoint. Google describes the service as “fully managed and serverless models as APIs,” so customers do not provision or maintain model-serving infrastructure.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Set up the Google Cloud project

  1. Create or select a project. Use a project whose billing account, organization policies, audit settings, and data-location controls match the application.
  2. Enable required services. Turn on the Agent Platform services identified by the current Google Cloud setup flow, then grant the application identity the documented permissions for model discovery and invocation.
  3. Open Model Garden. In the Google Cloud console, open Model Garden, locate the Anthropic Claude model card, and select a model that is currently offered in your project and target region.
  4. Confirm endpoint and region support. Check the model card and current regional documentation before hard-coding an endpoint. Availability can differ by model, region, quota, and account.
  5. Send API requests. Configure your client with the project, endpoint, and Google Cloud authentication used by your workload. Agent Platform supports streaming through server-sent events when the selected model and endpoint expose it.
  6. Set usage controls. Choose pay-as-you-go consumption or fixed-fee provisioned throughput as appropriate, then create budgets, alerts, and quota monitoring for the project.
  7. Review logging. Google documents optional 30-day request-response logging for prompt and completion activity. Enable it only when the retention, access, and sensitive-data implications are acceptable, and document who can read those logs.

Compliance and capacity considerations

Google states that Agent Platform access to Claude meets FedRAMP High requirements and operates within the Google Cloud FedRAMP High authorization boundary. Verify that the exact model, region, configuration, and organizational controls you plan to use are covered by the authorization that applies to your workload.

Provisioned throughput can make capacity more predictable, while pay-as-you-go avoids a fixed reservation. Compare expected traffic, burst behavior, latency targets, and cancellation terms before selecting a billing mode; published prices and model availability are subject to change.

How do I deploy Claude in Microsoft Foundry?

Foundry deployment has two required layers: create or select a Foundry resource, then deploy a Claude model into that resource. The resource supplies security and billing context; the deployment supplies the model name, hosting option, region scope, target URI, and key used by applications.

Create the Foundry resource and access controls

  1. Create or select a Foundry resource. Record the resource name because it appears in the endpoint used by applications.
  2. Choose authentication. Configure API-key access for a straightforward service integration or Microsoft Entra ID for token-based, centrally managed identity. Assign only the permissions required by each application or managed identity.
  3. Restrict network access when needed. Configure an Azure Virtual Network or other current Foundry network controls if the workload must not be reachable from the public internet.
  4. Check billing and region policy. Confirm that the subscription, marketplace terms, data-zone requirements, and allowed regions match the organization’s procurement and data-residency rules.

Deploy the Claude model in the portal

  1. In the Foundry portal, open Discover > Models.
  2. Select the Claude model you need and choose Deploy > Custom settings.
  3. Accept the Azure Marketplace terms on the first deployment if the portal requests them.
  4. Enter a deployment name. This name becomes the model value in API requests, so use a stable, documented naming convention.
  5. Choose the scope: Global, or US Data Zone when using an Azure-hosted model that supports US Data Zone Standard.
  6. Select the current model version and hosting option, then deploy.
  7. Open the deployment’s Details tab and copy the target URI and key into a secret manager rather than source control.

What hosting options does Foundry provide?

Foundry option Where the model service runs Available scope Operational implication
Hosted on Azure An Anthropic-operated service on Azure infrastructure Global Standard or US Data Zone Standard Use when Azure-hosted processing and the applicable Azure data-zone controls are required.
Hosted on Anthropic Anthropic infrastructure Global Standard Use when Anthropic-hosted operation is acceptable and the global scope meets your requirements.

The hosting label does not, by itself, describe every data flow. Review the current provider terms, data-processing documentation, retention behavior, and contractual commitments for the exact model and scope you deploy.

How do Foundry applications authenticate and call Claude?

Use the deployment target URI shown in Foundry and send Anthropic-compatible Messages API requests. The documented URI pattern is https://{resource}.services.ai.azure.com/anthropic/v1/*; replace the resource component with the name of your Foundry resource and use the deployment name as the request’s model value.

API-key authentication

Store the key in Azure Key Vault or another approved secret manager. Requests can use the api-key header or the x-api-key header, together with the content type required by the Messages API. Rotate the key, audit its use, and never commit it to a repository, notebook, or client-side bundle.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Microsoft Entra ID authentication

Use an Azure-issued token from the application’s managed identity, service principal, or user flow. Request the scope required by the current Foundry authentication documentation, attach the bearer token to the request, and verify that the identity has permission on the Foundry resource and deployment.

Endpoint and model-name pitfalls

  • Do not use the resource name as the model value; the deployment name is the model value.
  • Do not send a Foundry deployment to a generic Anthropic endpoint; use the target URI displayed for that deployment.
  • Do not mix an API key from one resource with a target URI from another resource.
  • When switching hosting options or model versions, re-check the deployment details instead of assuming the URI and capabilities remain unchanged.

Where does Claude inference run on each cloud?

The answer depends on the route and, in Foundry, on the hosting option chosen for the deployment. Treat “cloud region” and “model operator” as separate questions: a request can use one provider’s identity and networking controls while the model service is operated by another party.

Deployment choice Operator or hosting statement supported by provider documentation What you must verify before launch
Bedrock AWS operates the inference stack and is the sole data processor for this route. Current regional model availability, data location, logging, and contractual controls.
Claude Platform on AWS Anthropic operates the service through AWS. Anthropic processing terms, region behavior, quotas, and compliance suitability.
Google Cloud Agent Platform Google exposes Claude as a fully managed, serverless API. Current model regions, project endpoint controls, logging configuration, and applicable data-processing terms.
Foundry, Hosted on Azure An Anthropic-operated service runs on Azure infrastructure. Whether Global Standard or US Data Zone Standard meets the contract and residency requirement.
Foundry, Hosted on Anthropic The model service runs on Anthropic infrastructure. Global scope, Anthropic terms, retention, and compliance requirements.

For regulated workloads, obtain a current architecture and data-processing review from the provider and your compliance team. A familiar cloud console is not proof that every prompt, completion, log, support path, or backup remains inside the same boundary.

How do pricing, quotas, and capacity differ?

Cloud Claude costs are shaped by token consumption, throughput commitments, quotas, and the billing system attached to the chosen route. The available data does not establish universal prices, so use the provider’s current calculator, model page, and account-specific quota view rather than relying on an old per-token figure.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Bedrock: AWS manages quotas and pricing. Watch regional and model-specific throttling, and budget for both normal traffic and retry amplification.
  • Claude Platform on AWS: Anthropic manages quotas even though the service is accessed through AWS. Confirm account limits and support arrangements with Anthropic.
  • Google Cloud Agent Platform: Choose pay as you go or fixed-fee provisioned throughput. The second option can make capacity more predictable but creates a commitment that must match demand.
  • Microsoft Foundry: Billing flows through Azure Marketplace and Claude Consumption Units. Confirm how your subscription, region, hosting choice, and deployment size map to consumption.

At minimum, set alerts for spend, token volume, error rate, and throttling. A quota increase does not automatically solve latency or cost problems if prompts are oversized, retries are unbounded, or multiple services duplicate requests.

What production safeguards should I apply?

Apply the same engineering discipline to a managed Claude API as to any other production dependency. The provider operates the model service, but your team still controls identity, prompt data, application logs, retries, access reviews, and the decision to enable optional telemetry.

  • Use least privilege. Scope AWS IAM, Google Cloud permissions, Azure roles, and network access to the smallest set of applications and environments.
  • Protect credentials. Keep API keys and service-account material in a secret manager, rotate them, and scan repositories and build artifacts for accidental exposure.
  • Pin versions. Store the exact model ID, inference profile, or Foundry deployment name in configuration. Treat aliases and preview models as changeable.
  • Control location. Select a documented region or data zone that matches contractual requirements; do not infer location from the cloud brand alone.
  • Set timeouts and bounded retries. Use exponential backoff for transient throttling, cap total retry time, and make requests idempotent where your application permits.
  • Monitor tokens and quotas. Track prompt size, completion size, latency, status codes, throttling, and spend by project, account, deployment, and environment.
  • Review logging and retention. Disable prompt-completion logging unless it has a justified purpose, approved retention, and restricted access. Google documents an optional 30-day request-response logging setting for Agent Platform.
  • Test failure modes. Exercise invalid model names, unavailable regions, expired credentials, quota exhaustion, network denial, malformed requests, and provider-side 5xx responses before launch.
  • Document the operator. Record whether AWS, Anthropic, Google, or an Azure-hosted arrangement operates each model path, and update the record when a deployment is recreated.

How do I troubleshoot a failed deployment or request?

Start with the control plane, then the identity, endpoint, model identifier, quota, and payload. The symptom usually reveals which layer is wrong.

“Model not found” or an unavailable-model error

Check the exact current model ID, deployment name, region, and account access. On Bedrock, verify the model or inference profile in the selected region; on Foundry, confirm that the deployment finished and that the request uses the deployment name as model; on Google Cloud, recheck the Model Garden entry and project-region support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“Access denied” or authentication failures

Confirm that the request is using the intended workload identity, that the role or token has permission on the correct resource, and that credentials were not copied from another environment. For Foundry, verify whether the request uses the API-key header or an Entra token consistently with the configured access method.

Throttling and intermittent timeouts

Inspect quota metrics and request concurrency before increasing retries. Reduce bursts, use bounded exponential backoff, request a documented quota or throughput change, and check whether a provisioned-throughput option is available and financially appropriate.

Requests reach the endpoint but data-location review fails

Revisit the selected region, Foundry scope, and hosting option. A Global deployment may not satisfy a US-only or regional contract; changing the scope can require a new deployment rather than a client-side setting.

Unexpected logging or sensitive data exposure

Inventory provider logs, application traces, proxy telemetry, and debugging middleware. Turn off optional request-response logging where it is not required, redact sensitive fields before logging, shorten retention, and restrict operator access.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What should I record before handing the deployment to operations?

Create a short deployment record that another engineer can use without guessing. Include the cloud account and project, resource name, region or data zone, hosting option, exact model ID or deployment name, API surface, identity method, quota or throughput setting, logging and retention choices, data-processing review, owner, and rollback procedure. Revalidate that record whenever the provider changes a model version, endpoint, preview label, or regional catalog.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to run GPUs or manage model servers for these Claude deployments?

No. Bedrock, Google Cloud Agent Platform, and Microsoft Foundry expose managed model APIs, so you do not provision GPU instances for inference. Your responsibilities remain application integration, identity, networking, quotas, logging, and data governance.

Can one application use Bedrock and Foundry at the same time?

Yes, but treat them as separate provider integrations. Keep endpoint, authentication, model identifier, timeout, and error-handling settings behind a configuration or adapter layer, and test each route independently because their APIs and quota behavior differ.

Is a global deployment acceptable for data-residency requirements?

Only if your contract and compliance review allow global processing. Foundry offers a US Data Zone Standard option for supported Azure-hosted models, while other routes require you to verify current regional behavior and terms for the exact model.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Should I enable request and response logging while debugging?

Enable it only for a defined troubleshooting window, with approved access and retention. Prompt and completion content can contain credentials or personal data, so redact sensitive fields and disable the setting when the diagnostic need ends.

What happens if a Claude model version is retired?

A provider may require a new model ID, deployment, or access approval. Pin the version you run, monitor provider deprecation notices, maintain a staging migration path, and validate output quality and safety behavior before switching production traffic.
