To delete an app’s data from iCloud, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud and Storage or Manage Account Storage. Find the app and use the delete-data option shown. If you mean data included in an iCloud device backup, go to Backups, select the device, and turn off that app’s backup entry instead. These actions are different from deleting the app or its files from your iPhone or iPad.
First identify which app data you want to remove
“App data in iCloud” can refer to synced app data, an app’s contribution to a device backup, or files stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. Choose the route that matches the data you mean:

Third-party app data may include documents, projects, notes, game progress, or favourites. It may be visible in iCloud storage management even when the app has no obvious folder in Files. Apple says you can view how much iCloud storage a third-party app uses and delete its data there: Keep third-party app data up to date on all your Apple devices with iCloud.

- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top of Settings.
- Tap iCloud.
- Tap Storage or Manage Account Storage. The label can differ by software version.
- Find and tap the app whose data you want to remove, then review the information and the available delete-data control.
- Save or export anything you may need, confirm that the app and data category are correct, and use the displayed delete option.
Some apps use iCloud to keep data current across your Apple devices. Deleting that iCloud data can affect what the app has available on other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple recommends archiving or making copies of iCloud information before deleting it; see Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud.

Remove an app from an iCloud device backup
If the app appears under a device backup, you are managing what that backup includes—not necessarily the app’s separately synced iCloud data.
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap iCloud, then Storage or Manage Account Storage.
- Tap Backups, then choose the relevant device.
- Find the app and turn off its backup entry. Review the confirmation and proceed only if you intend to remove its information from iCloud.
Apple says turning off an app’s backup removes its information from iCloud. Some apps are always included and cannot be turned off. Deleting the entire device backup is broader: it removes that backup and turns off iCloud Backup for the device. Apple’s backup guidance also says that after iCloud Backup is disabled or stopped, backups remain available for 180 days: Manage your iCloud storage.

Delete files the app stores in iCloud Drive
If the app exposes files in iCloud Drive, you may find a folder named for the app in the Files app. Deleting a file or folder there removes it from iCloud Drive on devices using that iCloud Drive. This is distinct from deleting app data in iCloud storage management or removing an app from a device backup.
Deleted iCloud Drive files may be recoverable from Recently Deleted for 30 days. On iCloud.com, you can permanently remove files from Recently Deleted immediately. Files deleted from other apps can be managed through Data Recovery. See Apple’s guidance on recovering deleted files on iCloud.com.

Keep local app storage separate
To manage space on the iPhone or iPad itself, open Settings > General > iPhone Storage or iPad Storage. Offloading an app frees local storage while keeping its documents and data on the device. Deleting an app removes the app and related local data. These local-storage actions do not replace the iCloud storage or backup steps above. Apple explains the options in How to check the storage on your iPhone and iPad.
