Microsoft Edge can turn the page you are viewing into a PDF through its built-in print workflow; you do not need an extension for the standard method. Open the page, choose Settings and more (…) > Print or press Ctrl+P on Windows (Command+P on macOS), select Save as PDF or the PDF printer destination offered by your system, adjust the preview, and save the file. You can also print only a selected portion of a page, remove clutter with Immersive Reader when the site supports it, and preserve page colors by enabling background graphics.
How do I save a webpage as a PDF in Microsoft Edge?
The complete process is: open the webpage, open Edge’s print dialog, choose a PDF destination, review the output settings, and save the file to a folder with a filename you choose.

Wait for the content you want to capture to finish loading. The PDF represents the printable version of the page currently open in Edge.
- Open printing. Select Settings and more (…) in the upper-right corner, then choose Print. On Windows, Ctrl+P opens the same workflow; on macOS, use Command+P.
- Choose a PDF destination. Select Save as PDF when that option appears. Depending on your operating system and Edge version, the destination may instead be a PDF printer supplied by the system. Use the PDF option actually shown in your dialog.
- Set the page appearance. Use the preview to check orientation, layout, paper size, scale, pages per sheet, margins, page range, headers and footers, and background graphics. These controls determine what fits on each PDF page.
- Save the file. Select Save, choose a destination folder, enter a filename, and confirm the save. Open the resulting PDF once to make sure the page breaks and important images look correct.
Edge’s print preview may take a moment to paginate a long or image-heavy webpage. Wait for the preview to finish before saving so that you are not judging an incomplete rendering.
Where is “Save as PDF” in Microsoft Edge?
The option is in the printer or destination list inside the print dialog, not in the normal webpage menu. Open Settings and more (…) > Print (or the keyboard shortcut), then inspect the destination selector near the top of the dialog.

When Edge shows “Save as PDF”
Select that destination directly. The preview and settings remain in Edge, and the final Save button opens the folder and filename prompt.
When the dialog shows a PDF printer instead
Some Windows, macOS, or Edge combinations expose the operating system’s PDF printer rather than a destination literally named “Save as PDF.” Select the available PDF printer and continue with the same preview and save process. Labels and the location of controls can change between platforms and Edge versions, so do not rely on a particular destination name if your local dialog uses another one.

Expand the destination or printer list and look for a PDF entry. If Edge’s own dialog still lacks a control you need, switch to the operating system’s print window with Print using system dialog. On Windows, the system dialog shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+P; on macOS, it is Option+Command+P. The system window may present the PDF command in a different menu or button.
Which print settings should I change before saving?
Use the preview as the source of truth. Change only the controls that solve a visible problem, because scale, margins, and orientation interact and can create additional page breaks.

How do I prevent a wide page from being cut off?
First try landscape orientation, then inspect the preview again. If columns are still clipped, reduce the scale slightly or increase the usable width by adjusting margins. Avoid shrinking the page so far that the text becomes difficult to read; a second page is usually preferable to an unreadable one.

How do I keep a page’s colors and images?
Open More settings in the print dialog and turn on Background graphics. With that option off, Edge omits background colors and images even though the foreground text may remain. Check several preview pages because a background may appear only on certain sections.
How do I add a date or page numbers?
Open More settings and enable Headers and footers. Edge can place the current date in the header and page numbers in the footer. If the added information causes an unwanted line break, revisit scale or margins and confirm the preview before saving.
How do I print only part of a webpage to PDF?
Select the text or images you want, then print the selection rather than the entire page. This is useful for an article section, a table, or a figure surrounded by unrelated navigation and advertising.
- Drag across the text and images to keep. Include the complete table or image area you need; anything outside the selection is not part of the selected print job.
- Right-click the highlighted selection.
- Choose Print from the context menu.
- In the print dialog, select Save as PDF or the PDF printer destination offered by the operating system.
- Check the preview, adjust orientation, scale, margins, and other settings, then select Save and choose the folder and filename.
Selection printing is different from entering a page range. A page range removes whole rendered pages from the output, while a selection starts with only the material you highlighted. If the selection is laid out awkwardly, try selecting a larger, contiguous block and then use scale or margins to improve the pagination.
Can Immersive Reader make a cleaner PDF?
Yes, when the webpage supports Immersive Reader. It presents the page in a simplified reading view, which can remove surrounding navigation, advertising, and other material before you print.

How to open Immersive Reader
Look for the Immersive Reader icon in Edge’s address bar. On Windows, you can also press F9. Once the simplified view opens, start printing from that view with Settings and more (…) > Print or Ctrl+P.
What if the icon is missing?
Immersive Reader is not available for every website. A missing icon generally means the current page does not expose a supported reading view. In that case, use the regular print preview and control clutter with selection printing, page ranges, margins, and scale.
How do Windows and macOS differ when creating the PDF?
The core Edge steps are the same, but keyboard shortcuts and the PDF destination can differ. The following shortcuts are the documented entry points for each platform.

What should I do if Edge’s print preview looks wrong?
Diagnose the preview rather than saving repeated copies with random settings. The symptom usually identifies the setting to change.

Content is missing from the preview
- Scroll through the preview to see whether the content moved to a later page.
- Check the selected page range; a restricted range can intentionally exclude pages.
- Turn on Background graphics if the missing material is a color panel or background image.
- If you need only a particular region, cancel the full-page job and create a deliberate selection before choosing Print.
Text or columns are clipped
- Switch to landscape orientation for wide content.
- Reduce scale incrementally and recheck readability.
- Adjust margins to create more usable width.
- Use the system print dialog if Edge’s preview does not expose the control you need.
The PDF has too much surrounding material
- Use Immersive Reader first when its address-bar icon is available.
- Otherwise select only the text or images you want and print that selection.
- Use page range controls to remove complete introductory or trailing pages.
The destination or Save button is unavailable
Open the destination list and select the PDF printer supplied by your operating system, if one is listed. If Edge still does not provide the required control, choose Print using system dialog and use the system’s PDF command there. The exact labels depend on the platform and Edge version.

Open the saved file in a PDF viewer and inspect the first page, a page containing images or a table, and the final page. Confirm that the filename and location are correct, the page range matches your intention, text is readable at normal zoom, and no essential background graphics disappeared.
For a long webpage, also look for headings stranded at the bottom of a page, blank pages created by an unusual scale or margin combination, and columns that continue beyond the visible page edge. Return to Edge’s preview and adjust one setting at a time so you can identify which change fixed the problem.
Does Edge require an extension to create a PDF?
No. The standard webpage-to-PDF path is built into Edge’s print workflow. Extensions are not required for opening the print dialog, selecting a PDF destination, changing preview settings, or saving the file.
Can I use the system print dialog instead of Edge’s dialog?
Yes. Choose Print using system dialog when Edge’s preview does not expose a needed destination or control. On Windows press Ctrl+Shift+P; on macOS press Option+Command+P. The operating system may display its PDF command in a different location, so follow the controls shown in that window.
What happens to page backgrounds when I save from Edge?
Background colors and images are optional in the preview. Open More settings and enable Background graphics when those visual elements carry meaning; leaving it disabled omits them from the PDF.
Can I save a PDF from a webpage that has no Immersive Reader view?
Yes. Immersive Reader is only a cleanup option for supported websites, not a requirement for PDF creation. Print the normal page, use a page range or a text-and-image selection to reduce clutter, and tune the preview settings before saving.

Can I create one PDF from several different webpages in Edge?
Edge’s built-in workflow prints the webpage that is currently open. Save each page separately; combining those files into one document requires a separate PDF-merging tool outside Edge.
Why does my PDF have an extra blank page?
A blank page is usually caused by the current scale, margins, orientation, or page range rather than by the Save command itself. Return to the preview, change one of those controls, and confirm the page count before saving again.
Will a selected webpage section keep its original layout?
Selection printing uses the browser’s printable rendering of the highlighted material, so columns or floating elements may reflow. Select a complete contiguous section and use the preview to decide whether a full-page print with a narrower page range will produce a cleaner result.
Why is the PDF destination named differently on my computer?
The available destination is supplied by the operating system and can vary by platform and Edge version. Choose the local PDF printer or PDF-saving option shown in the destination list; the wording does not have to be exactly “Save as PDF.”
