To complete a Conservation Project in Planet Zoo 2, return from your zoo to the Planet Hub, open the leaf-marked Conservation Projects tab, choose a project, review every requirement, select Allocate Resources, and commit qualifying cash, staff, animals or release groups. Wait until the project finishes, then claim its reward from the same project interface. The system connects your zoos and Wildlife Reserves across Career, Franchise and Sandbox, but available projects, deadlines and objectives can differ by mode or scenario.
Where do I find Conservation Projects?
Conservation Projects are managed in the Planet Hub rather than from a zoo’s ordinary construction or animal-management screens. From any zoo, choose Return to Hub; the command uses the globe icon at the far-left side of the taskbar.

How do I start a conservation project in Planet Zoo 2?
- Return to the Planet Hub. Select Return to Hub (the globe icon on the far-left of the taskbar) from your zoo.
- Open Conservation Projects. Select the third, leaf-marked tab in the Hub.
- Inspect the project card. Read the objective, required cash, staff, animals, release groups and any other conditions before committing anything.
- Check the strategic cost. Make sure an animal or release group is not needed for breeding, trading or another scenario objective. Staff assigned to a project leave the zoo while working in the field.
- Allocate the resources. Select Allocate Resources on the right side of the project panel, choose resources that satisfy the requirements and confirm.
- Wait for completion. Allocation starts the project, but the reward is not available immediately.
- Claim the reward manually. When the project is complete, return to its project interface and select the claim option.
What can a Conservation Project consume and give back?
Projects can use cash, staff time, animals and release groups. A staff member sent to a project is unavailable in the zoo until the field work ends, so account for reduced staffing before confirming.

Most projects award Conservation Credits. Some institutions instead provide cash, animals or release groups; those non-credit rewards can be claimed through Gifts in Animal Trading. Keep cash and Conservation Credits separate when planning: cash pays for staff, facilities and construction, while Credits support animals and permits in Franchise progression.
What types of projects are available?
The current catalogue records six project types and 18 project entries, including weekly and career projects. The catalogue was recorded in 2026, and names or availability can change with scenarios and live updates.

- Habitat Restoration — work to improve damaged or degraded habitat.
- Habitat Connectivity — work that links habitat areas for wildlife movement.
- Outreach — public-facing conservation activity.
- Wildlife Care — support for animals requiring direct care.
Examples in the catalogue include Aardvark Reintroduction, Binturong Behaviour, Habitat Restoration projects, Reef Relief and Wildlife Care projects. Treat those names as examples rather than a permanent list: live updates, scenario rules and mode availability can change what appears.

How should I choose between two projects?
Compare projects before allocating anything. A higher headline reward may be a poor trade if it consumes a valuable breeder or occupies a key staff member during a more important objective.
- Resource cost: identify the cash, staff, animals and release groups required.
- Completion time: consider how long resources will be unavailable.
- Reward type and value: distinguish Conservation Credits from cash, animals or release groups.
- Breeding and scenario value: preserve animals or release groups needed for breeding, trading or another objective.
- Availability: check whether the project belongs to your current mode or scenario.
- Deadline: weekly and event-linked projects may expire, and some Franchise projects are limited-time.
Before confirming, compare the immediate reward with the long-term value of every animal or release group the project consumes. This is especially important when a project requires a rare animal that could support future breeding.

The Planet Hub and conservation system span Career, Franchise and Sandbox, but progression pressure and availability are not identical.

Frontier launched Planet Zoo 2 on 13 October 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its Planet Hub is the global management layer connecting zoos and Wildlife Reserves for research and conservation decisions.
How do Conservation Credits work with projects?
Conservation Credits are used for animal adoptions and other Franchise progression, while cash covers operational spending such as staff, facilities and construction. The 2026 catalogue records a starting balance of 300 Conservation Credits for Franchise and unlimited credits in the Default and Creative Sandbox presets. Those balances describe the listed presets, not a universal reward for completing an individual project.
Because some projects return other rewards, open Gifts in Animal Trading after completion if the project supplied cash, animals or a release group instead of Credits.

Why can’t I find a project or the Planet Hub?
Enter the Hub directly from the mode’s Hub button or globe icon instead of relying on an automatic Resume path. Frontier’s Update 1.0.7, released 23 October 2026, fixed a Resume connection error that could stop a Franchise save from loading into a game mode.
If the Hub opens but the project is absent, verify that it belongs to the current scenario or mode and that its weekly, event or limited-time window has not expired. Menu labels are documented consistently, but exact keyboard and controller bindings can vary by platform.

- All listed requirements are satisfied by the selected resources.
- The selected animal or release group is not reserved for breeding, trading or another active objective.
- The zoo can operate with the assigned staff away in the field.
- The project deadline leaves enough time for completion.
- The reward type is useful for the current mode and does not justify a better alternative project.
Once allocation is confirmed, monitor the project until it completes, then return to the project panel and claim the reward. Completion alone does not automatically transfer every reward to your account.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cancel a Conservation Project after allocating resources?
The documented workflow covers reviewing requirements, allocating resources, waiting for completion and claiming the reward; it does not establish a cancellation or refund function. Treat confirmed allocations as committed until the project finishes unless your in-game interface explicitly offers another option.
Do Conservation Projects appear in every Planet Zoo 2 scenario?
The Planet Hub is available across Career, Franchise and Sandbox, but projects are filtered by mode, scenario and live availability. A Career objective may require one named project, while a Franchise listing may disappear when its time window ends.

Assigned staff leave the zoo while they work in the field. Plan staffing capacity before allocation so essential animal care, research or facility duties are not left uncovered.
Where do I collect animal or release-group rewards?
Projects that provide animals or release groups instead of Conservation Credits make those rewards available through Gifts in Animal Trading. Check that interface after the project reaches completion.
