There is no universal winner. Choose the membership tied to the retailer your household already uses, then test whether the delivery charges you would actually avoid, plus any rewards or services you would otherwise pay for, exceed the annual fee. Walmart+ is strongest for frequent Walmart shipping, store delivery, fuel savings and its included streaming choice; Target Circle 360 is built around same-day local delivery, eligible two-day shipping and a longer no-rush return window; Amazon Prime may fit a household already buying heavily from Amazon, but its current benefits and price should be confirmed directly with Amazon before you join.
Prices, delivery coverage, eligible products, minimum orders, taxes and promotional offers can change by date and location. The comparison below uses U.S. terms available in October 2026 and clearly separates established facts from details that still require an official Amazon check.

What should you compare before choosing a paid shopping membership?
Start with your own order history rather than the largest advertised bundle. A membership only creates value when you use its covered services often enough to offset the fee.
- Parcel shipping: packages sent from warehouses are not the same as groceries or other goods delivered from a nearby store.
- Local delivery: check order minimums, available time slots, distance limits, speed surcharges and whether your ZIP code is served.
- Returns: separate a longer return window from the convenience of having a return collected at home or handled in a store.
- Rewards and extras: count fuel discounts, points, entertainment or other bundles only at the value you would realistically use.
- Total cost: compare annual and monthly prices after any discount for which you can verify eligibility, and include applicable taxes.
Avoid treating a retailer’s savings estimate as a promise. It may reflect a defined group, a particular comparison method or a full year of membership rather than your own shopping pattern.

Annual versus monthly pricing
Using the listed prices, paying monthly for 12 months costs more than the annual plan for each of the three memberships. The arithmetic below is only a price comparison; it does not establish that a plan is worth buying.
| Membership | Annual price | Monthly price | 12 monthly payments | Annual-plan difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Walmart+ | $98 per year, plus applicable tax | $12.95 per month, plus applicable tax | $155.40 | $57.40 less when paid annually |
| Target Circle 360 | $99 per year | $10.99 per month | $131.88 | $32.88 less when paid annually |
| Amazon Prime | $139 per year, according to a secondary comparison published October 4, 2026; verify with Amazon | $14.99 per month, according to that report; verify with Amazon | $179.88 | $40.88 less when paid annually |
Monthly billing can be sensible if you are testing a new retailer, moving soon or expecting a short period of heavy orders. Annual billing reduces the effective rate only if you will keep using the membership for the full year.
How do Walmart+, Target Circle 360 and Amazon Prime compare?
The table distinguishes benefits that look similar in marketing but work differently in practice. “Not stated” means the available material did not establish a current figure or policy; it is not evidence that the benefit does not exist.

What does Walmart+ actually cover?
Walmart+ combines warehouse-style parcel shipping with delivery from a local Walmart store. Those are separate systems, so “free delivery” does not mean every order qualifies for every speed or time slot.
Shipping and store delivery
Walmart lists free shipping with no order minimum. For delivery from a store, the order must generally reach $35 and satisfy applicable restrictions. A scheduled slot must be available at a $0-fee rate; if you select a faster option or no free slot is available, a speed fee can apply.
That distinction matters for a household that buys small, urgent orders. A $20 order may qualify for free parcel shipping when shipped as an eligible package, yet fail the $35 threshold for store delivery. Check the checkout method, not just the membership badge.
Fuel, streaming and returns
The membership includes member fuel savings and a streaming choice. Treat both as conditional value: fuel savings matter only if you regularly buy fuel at participating locations, and the streaming choice matters only if you would otherwise pay for comparable entertainment.

- Redeemable towards millions of items store-wide at Amazon.com or certain affiliated websites.
- Available for immediate delivery. Gift cards sent by email can be scheduled up to a year in advance.

Walmart advertises returns features, but the available material does not establish one universal pickup rule for every product. Confirm whether a particular item can be returned from home, taken to a store or handled by another method before assuming that the feature eliminates all return effort.
Discounts, trial and geography
Walmart lists $49 per year or $6.47 per month for eligible government-assistance recipients and college students. Verify eligibility during signup; do not assume a student or assistance status automatically qualifies without the required verification.
Walmart currently advertises a $1 30-day trial. Promotional offers are volatile, so record the price and renewal terms shown when you enroll rather than relying on an older advertisement.
A U.S. billing address is required, and benefits are limited in Alaska and Hawaii. Even within the contiguous United States, store inventory, delivery radius and time-slot supply can change the result for a particular address.
How to interpret Walmart’s $382 savings claim
Walmart says: $382 average annual savings — Walmart, 2026 (retailer estimate for annual members with at least 12 months of membership; excludes the annual membership fee). The retailer says the estimate compares member and non-member prices or fees.
This is a company estimate for annual members who had at least 12 months of membership, not an independently verified guarantee. Your result could be lower if you use few deliveries, do not buy fuel, choose no streaming service or live where store delivery is limited.
What does Target Circle 360 add beyond ordinary Target shopping?
Target Circle 360 centers on local same-day delivery and a defined return-window extension, while also adding free two-day shipping on eligible items.

Same-day delivery and the $35 threshold
Target advertises unlimited same-day delivery on orders of $35 or more. Delivery may include nearby retailers through Shipt. Select alcohol retailers and items are excluded from the no-markup claim, and local fees and taxes may apply. Prices and availability can change, so compare the final cart total and the promised delivery window for your address.
The $35 threshold applies to the advertised same-day benefit. If your typical order is smaller, you may need to combine purchases, use parcel shipping instead or pay a fee; the membership does not turn every small basket into a free delivery.
Returns and two-day shipping
Circle 360 adds 30 days to the no-rush return window. That is an extension of time, not a promise that every return is collected from your home. Return method, item eligibility and any exclusions still depend on the current Target terms.
Free two-day shipping applies to eligible items. “Eligible” is important: marketplace, oversized, restricted or otherwise excluded products may follow different delivery rules. Read the item-level shipping message before counting a package as a membership saving.

Target lists the annual plan at $99 or the monthly plan at $10.99. Target Circle Cardholders can receive the annual plan for $49. Verified students and government-assistance recipients are listed at $4.99 per month, and Target offers a 14-day free trial.
These prices are separate eligibility paths. Confirm which offer appears in your account and whether the discounted rate renews under the same terms; do not combine the figures unless Target explicitly allows it.
Terms and local variation
Target’s membership terms page was last updated September 10, 2026. Because the terms are changeable, check that page and the checkout disclosures immediately before joining. A nearby participating store, delivery radius, inventory and local taxes can all affect the practical value of same-day delivery.

What is known—and not yet confirmed—about Amazon Prime?
A secondary comparison published October 4, 2026 reports Amazon Prime at $139 per year or $14.99 per month. The official Amazon membership page was not available for verification in the material reviewed, so confirm the current price, delivery eligibility, return policy, rewards and bundled services on Amazon before making a detailed cost comparison.

That qualification is especially important because Prime benefits can differ by item, seller, address and service category. Do not assume that a delivery speed, return window or entertainment bundle described in an older article still applies to your account.
How do you calculate whether a membership is worth the fee?
Use a personal break-even calculation instead of a headline savings claim.
- List eligible orders from the last 12 months. Separate shipped packages from local store-delivery orders because their minimums and fees differ.
- Add the fees you would otherwise pay. Use actual receipts or order histories where possible. Do not count a delivery as “saved” if you would have chosen free pickup or consolidated the order without a membership.
- Value only perks you would buy anyway. For fuel, use the discount you expect to receive on your normal gallons. For streaming, use the price of a service you would genuinely keep, not the retail value of a channel you would never watch.
- Subtract the membership price and taxes. Use the annual fee if you will stay enrolled for a year; use the monthly total if flexibility is part of your decision.
- Stress-test the estimate. Recalculate with fewer deliveries, a missed free slot, an unavailable item or a month when you shop elsewhere.
Illustrative example: suppose your records show 18 qualifying deliveries where you would otherwise pay $8 each, or $144. If you would also use $40 of fuel or entertainment value, your realistic benefit is $184. Against a $99 annual fee, the modeled surplus is $85 before taxes and any excluded orders. Replace those illustrative figures with your own receipts; they are not a promise from any retailer.

Choose Walmart+ when Walmart is already your main retailer
Walmart+ is the logical first calculation if you frequently order Walmart parcels, can meet the $35 store-delivery minimum, buy fuel where the discount applies or would use the included streaming choice. Its $98 annual fee is slightly below Target’s standard annual price, but the advantage disappears if your address has limited delivery coverage or you rarely use Walmart.

Circle 360 fits shoppers who place $35-or-more Target orders and value unlimited same-day delivery, eligible two-day shipping or an extra 30 days for no-rush returns. The $49 annual Cardholder rate can materially change the break-even calculation, provided you qualify and would otherwise use the card under its own terms.
Consider Amazon Prime only after checking current Amazon terms
Prime may be efficient for a household already concentrated on Amazon, but the available evidence supports only the reported October 2026 price, not a complete current benefit list. Open Amazon’s membership page while logged in, confirm your address and review the return and reward terms for the items you actually buy.

Use more than one membership only with separate break-even tests
Overlapping memberships can make sense when one covers local groceries and another covers parcel shipping, but count each fee independently. A streaming bundle that you already receive elsewhere, or a delivery benefit you rarely use, should not be counted twice.
What are the most common comparison mistakes?
- Comparing sticker prices without order data: the cheapest annual fee can be expensive if its delivery network does not serve your address.
- Equating shipping with same-day delivery: warehouse shipping, store delivery and scheduled time slots have different rules.
- Ignoring minimum orders: Walmart store delivery and Target same-day delivery both use a $35 threshold in the advertised benefits.
- Counting every bundled perk at face value: a fuel or streaming benefit has no practical value if you would not use it.
- Confusing a longer return window with easier returns: Target’s 30-day extension gives more time; Walmart’s returns features concern process convenience, and neither description guarantees identical handling for every item.
- Assuming a trial or discount is permanent: Walmart’s $1 trial, student rates and assistance rates are offers with eligibility and terms that can change.
- Forgetting taxes and local fees: Walmart lists applicable tax, while Target notes that local fees and taxes may apply to delivery.
- Using stale Amazon information: verify Prime’s current price and benefits directly before relying on a comparison published earlier.
What should you check at checkout before enrolling?
- Enter the address where most deliveries will arrive and confirm that the membership is available there.
- Open several typical products and note whether each is eligible for the promised shipping speed or return treatment.
- Build a representative $35-or-more store-delivery cart and a smaller cart to see how the minimum affects fees.
- Review available delivery slots, including whether a $0-fee Walmart slot is actually offered.
- Read the renewal price, tax treatment, trial conversion and cancellation language shown on the enrollment screen.
- For discounted plans, complete the student or government-assistance verification and save the eligibility confirmation.
- Write down the terms date or promotional end date so you can recheck the plan before the next renewal.
Bottom line: which premium membership should you buy?
Buy the membership that matches your existing shopping behavior, not the one with the longest feature list. Walmart+ is a delivery-and-fuel calculation for Walmart-heavy households; Target Circle 360 is a same-day-and-returns calculation for Target shoppers; Amazon Prime requires a fresh official check before its reported October 2026 price can support a full comparison. If your avoided fees and genuinely used perks do not clearly exceed the fee under a conservative estimate, keep shopping without the membership and revisit the math when your order pattern changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a promotional trial price be assumed to continue after the trial ends?
No. A trial price is an enrollment offer, not a permanent membership rate. Save the renewal amount and date shown at signup, then check the account page before the trial converts.
Do taxes and local delivery charges change the break-even point?
Yes. Walmart lists applicable tax, and Target notes that local fees and taxes may apply to delivery. Use the final checkout total in your calculation rather than comparing advertised prices alone.
Does a membership make every product eligible for fast shipping?
No. Shipping speed and eligibility can vary by item, seller, inventory and address. Check the delivery promise on each product page or in the cart before counting that order as a saving.
Can I count a streaming or fuel perk if I would not otherwise pay for it?
Only as a small convenience value, if at all. A perk should offset the fee in your calculation only when you expect to use it; its advertised standalone value is not cash savings.
