Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCompare iPhone models by matching their camera features, battery estimates, and chips to what you actually do—not by choosing the phone with the biggest megapixel number or newest model name. For a fair comparison, use the same battery metric across phones, distinguish specifications from independent test results, and check price, storage, size, and local availability before buying.
Start with the models you can actually buy
Apple’s iPhone comparison page covers multiple generations, but the lineup and listings can vary by region. Make a shortlist based on your budget and local options, then compare the specific storage configurations and conditions being offered. A model’s generation alone does not tell you whether it is the best value.

For example, Apple lists the iPhone 17 with an A19 chip and a 48MP main and ultra-wide camera system. That makes it a useful current-specification example, not a universal recommendation: whether it suits you depends on the features you need and the price and availability where you shop. Retail price and inventory are not established by Apple’s technical specifications.

Compare camera coverage and capabilities
Start with the kinds of photos and videos you take. A camera system is more than its megapixel count: lens coverage, zoom method, macro options, low-light tools, stabilization, and video formats all affect what you can do. Resolution by itself does not establish which phone will produce the better-looking image in every situation.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Photos: check the lenses and modes you will use
- Main camera: The everyday view for many scenes. Compare its specifications, but do not treat resolution as a complete measure of image quality.
- Ultra-wide: Useful when you want a broader view, such as a landscape or a group in a confined space. Check whether the model has an ultra-wide camera.
- Telephoto and zoom: Distinguish a dedicated telephoto lens and optical reach from digital enlargement. Apple lists an optical-quality 2x telephoto option on the iPhone 17; that wording describes a capability, not proof of superior results in every shot.
- Macro: If you often photograph small subjects at close range, check for a dedicated macro mode. Apple lists 48MP macro photography for iPhone 17.
- Low-light features: Compare the available tools and modes if night scenes are important. A feature listing alone does not establish comparative low-light image quality.
Video: match the recording tools to your workflow
Check supported resolutions and frame rates, stabilization, and recording formats. Most people may not need professional editing formats; creators who grade or edit footage should pay closer attention to them. Apple lists ProRes and ProRes RAW video options for iPhone 17 Pro. Those format capabilities may matter in an editing workflow, but they do not by themselves prove that every video looks better than footage from another model.
Compare battery estimates on equal terms
Battery figures are meaningful only when the metric is the same. Apple lists iPhone 17 video playback at up to 30 hours and streamed video playback at up to 27 hours on its technical specifications page. These are Apple’s manufacturer estimates, not independent real-world tests or a promise of how long your phone will last through a day.

When comparing candidates, put local video playback figures beside local playback figures, and streamed figures beside streamed figures. Do not treat the two types as interchangeable. Your actual endurance also depends on usage, network conditions, settings, and battery age.
Apple lists iPhone 17 Pro at up to 33 hours of video playback and up to 30 hours of streamed playback on its technical specifications page. These figures are also manufacturer estimates. For a more practical comparison, look for independent tests that used comparable methods and conditions across the specific models you are considering.

Use chip generation as a starting point, not a speed verdict
Apple identifies the iPhone 17’s chip as A19, with a 6-core CPU, and the iPhone 16’s as A18. The iPhone 16 specifications also describe its camera system. Chip names help identify the generation, but they do not quantify how fast a phone will feel in your particular apps.
For ordinary use, consider whether your current phone handles the tasks you care about and whether the candidate supports your needs. If sustained gaming, video editing, or another demanding workload matters, compare independent benchmark results for the exact models and similar test conditions. The published specifications cited here do not establish measured benchmark performance.

Make the final comparison around your priorities
| Priority | What to compare | How to decide |
|---|---|---|
| Photos | Main, ultra-wide, and telephoto coverage; optical versus digital zoom; macro and low-light features | Choose the coverage and modes that fit your usual subjects; do not use megapixels alone as a quality ranking. |
| Video | Resolution, frame rates, stabilization, and formats such as ProRes | Prioritize specialist formats if they fit your editing workflow; otherwise, focus on the recording tools you will use. |
| Battery | The same manufacturer playback metric or a comparable independent test method | Keep local and streamed playback figures separate, and account for your usage and the phone’s battery age. |
| Performance | Chip generation, workload support, and comparable benchmarks where available | Use chip names for orientation; use comparable independent results for measured speed or sustained workloads. |
| Buying fit | Price, size, storage, condition, and local availability | Verify the specific listing before purchase; a model may not be stocked by every retailer or in every region. |
Check charging requirements separately
Apple says iPhone 17 can charge up to 50% in 20 minutes with a 40W-or-higher power adapter and USB-C cable; the adapter is sold separately. This is a stated charging condition, not a reason every buyer needs to purchase another adapter. Check what you already own before adding an accessory to your budget.
