What platforms and release date does GTA VI have?
Rockstar currently lists GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with an announced release date of November 19, 2026. Sony says the game is not playable on PS4. The announced list does not establish a PC release date; it is more accurate to say that PC has not been announced than to predict that a PC version will never exist.

Preloading is scheduled for November 12. Rockstar expects the physical Standard Edition boxes to reach retailers for shipping or pickup from that date, while digital preloading is also scheduled for local midnight on November 12. These are announced schedules, not proof that every retailer will hand over a box at the same time in every location.
Is the GTA VI physical copy actually a disc?
No. Rockstar labels the retail Standard Edition “physical,” but the box contains a redeemable download code and no game disc. Rockstar’s support FAQ states: “A disc will not be included in the box.” A disc drive therefore does not make the boxed GTA VI purchase a disc-based installation.

The code must match the console platform. PlayStation redemption also depends on the account’s store region; Rockstar groups the United States and Canada together for North American PlayStation codes. Xbox codes are described as not region-locked. A marketplace listing that says “physical copy” should be read as “code in a box” unless it explicitly documents something else.
What the code means for ownership
- You redeem the entitlement through PlayStation Store or Xbox, then download the game to that account.
- The code is not a transferable disc that can be lent, resold after use, or played on another account.

This model is the cleanest fit when your library is already digital, you do not watch Blu-ray or DVD discs, and the lower listed price than the disc PS5 matters more than expansion flexibility.
Because 825 GB is a listed capacity rather than usable free space, leave room for system software and other games. Rockstar had not published a GTA VI download or installed-size figure at the time of this guide, so no reliable number of games that will fit can be calculated.

Disc-equipped PS5: buy it for other discs
Sony’s US page lists a 1 TB PS5 with a drive at $649. The drive is useful for compatible physical games and movies in your existing collection. It does not provide a disc version of GTA VI, because Rockstar’s retail box has a code instead.
This model makes sense when you already own PS4 or PS5 discs, expect to buy used physical games, share discs within a household, or want a console movie player. If GTA VI is the only planned purchase, paying for the drive is difficult to justify on GTA VI grounds alone.
PS5 Pro: a premium option, not a requirement
Sony lists a 2 TB PS5 Pro at $899 and labels GTA VI “PS5 Pro Enhanced.” That label confirms enhanced support, but it does not publish a GTA VI frame rate, resolution, graphics mode, or comparative result. Do not buy the Pro on the assumption of a particular performance number.
The Pro is a conditional recommendation for buyers who want its broader premium hardware features, the larger listed capacity, and the budget to pay for them. It is not necessary to play the announced game. Sony specifies a separately sold removable drive for slim Digital Edition model groups CFI-2000 and CFI-2100, and for PS5 Pro. Initial pairing requires an internet connection. The drive is not a universal attachment for every original PS5, so check the exact model number before planning an upgrade. Adding one later is for other disc games or movies; it does not convert a GTA VI code into a disc.
Which Xbox Series console fits a digital GTA VI library?
Every Series S model is all-digital, while Series X is sold in both disc and disc-free configurations. Microsoft describes Series S as targeting 1440p and Series X as a native-4K-class console, but those are hardware positioning statements, not GTA VI performance benchmarks.

Series S 512 GB
The 512 GB Series S is the smallest listed-capacity option. It can be a sensible entry point when price and size matter and your games are digital. Its capacity leaves less room for a large new release plus other titles, and Rockstar had not announced GTA VI’s install size. Do not infer the game’s size from the console’s capacity.
Series S 1 TB
The 1 TB Series S keeps the disc-free design while providing more listed capacity. It is the better Series S fit for a digital-first player who expects to keep several large games installed. The console still cannot play game discs, so an existing physical Xbox library should point you toward a drive-equipped Series X instead.
Series X 1 TB All-Digital Robot White
Microsoft also offers a 1 TB all-digital Series X in Robot White. It combines Series X hardware positioning with a digital-only library. Confirm the exact listing, because “Series X” by itself no longer tells you whether a drive is included.
Series X with a drive
Drive-equipped options include the 1 TB Carbon Black and 2 TB Galaxy Black variants listed by Microsoft. Choose one when you have physical Xbox games, intend to buy used discs, or want disc playback. The drive is not needed for the GTA VI code-in-box product.

The US PlayStation storefront displayed $79.99 for digital Standard and $99.99 for digital Ultimate when checked in October 2026. Those are a US storefront snapshot, not a universal price or a guarantee of the lowest retailer total.

Is there an official GTA VI console bundle?

On PlayStation, remember that a removable drive is limited to specified slim Digital Edition model groups and PS5 Pro, with internet required for initial pairing. On Xbox, verify whether the exact Series X listing is the all-digital Robot White model or a disc-equipped Carbon Black or Galaxy Black configuration.
What does Sony’s future disc policy mean?
Sony’s US buying page states that newly released PlayStation games will be offered digitally only from January 2028, while discs for games released before then can still be played. This is Sony’s stated PlayStation policy, not an Xbox policy and not a claim that your existing discs will stop working. Recheck the policy before using it as a major long-term buying argument.

- GTA VI is the principal game you want.
- You accept downloading and account-based ownership.
- You have checked storage needs without relying on an unannounced install-size rumor.
- You find a clearly documented price and delivery date from a reputable seller.
Choose a disc model when
- You already own a compatible physical library.
- You want to buy or resell other games on disc.
- You need Blu-ray or DVD playback.

Wait for a documented bundle when

What is the Goodtime State–Vice City Collection?
Rockstar’s Goodtime State–Vice City Collection is a separate merchandise collector’s box. Rockstar lists items such as a figure, sunglasses, hat, bag, and poster/map, and explicitly says the game is sold separately. It is not a console, a substitute for GTA VI, or proof that a bundle includes the game.
The Rockstar Store also lists GTA VI clothing, accessories, collectibles, and album CDs or vinyl.
