You can control the Edifier Hecate G2000 Pro without a computer: hold G for two seconds to turn the lighting on or off, double-press G to cycle lighting effects, and press G once to switch between Music, Gaming, and Movie sound modes. For per-color lighting, equalizer controls, virtual surround and firmware tools, install the G2000 PRO software from www.hecategaming.com on a Windows 10 or later PC.
The speaker’s button controls are immediate and connection-independent. The HECATE software adds deeper processing, but its available controls can vary by software and firmware version.

The G button handles the speaker’s built-in lighting and sound presets. Use the control that matches the result you want:
| Action | What it changes | How to identify the result |
|---|---|---|
| Press and hold G for 2 seconds | Turns the light effects on or off | The RGB lighting goes dark or returns |
| Double-press G | Switches to the next built-in lighting effect | The effect changes without changing the sound preset |
| Press G once | Cycles the sound effects | Music uses a blinking purple indicator, Gaming a blinking red indicator, and Movie intermittent rows of blinking blue indicators |
These are hardware functions, so you do not need to open an app for a quick change. Presses must be distinct: a long press is reserved for lighting power, while a double press selects the next light effect.

How do I turn the G2000 Pro RGB lights on or off?
With the speakers powered on, press and hold the G button for 2 seconds. The same gesture toggles the lighting back on, so you do not need to cycle through effects to restore it.
Turning the lights off without changing audio
The lighting toggle is separate from the sound-mode control. Holding G disables the visual effects while leaving the current Music, Gaming or Movie processing in place.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteChanging the effect instead of switching it off
Double-press G rather than holding it. Each double press advances through the built-in effects. This is the quickest option when you want a different animation but still want the lights active.
How do I change the G2000 Pro sound mode?
Press the G button once to move through the speaker’s sound effects. The indicator identifies the selected preset:
- Music mode: the purple indicator blinks.
- Gaming mode: the red indicator blinks.
- Movie mode: rows of blue indicators blink intermittently.
Use these presets when you want a fast change from the speaker itself. They are different from a computer equalizer: the button selects Edifier’s built-in processing, while the HECATE application exposes individual processing controls.
When to use each preset
- Music is the neutral choice for songs and general listening.
- Gaming is intended for game audio where positional emphasis is useful.
- Movie is designed for film and television playback and uses the blue indicator pattern described above.
The manual documents the mode names and button behavior, but it does not assign a fixed frequency curve to each preset. Treat them as listening profiles rather than published equalizer settings.
How do I install HECATE Gaming Center for deeper control?
Install the G2000 PRO software on a Windows computer when you need adjustments beyond the three hardware sound modes or the built-in lighting cycle. The manual specifies Windows 10 or later.
- Open www.hecategaming.com.
- Download the software listed for the G2000 PRO.
- Open the downloaded installer and run
setup.exe. - Follow the installation prompts until the setup completes.
- Connect the speakers to the computer, select the G2000 Pro as the active audio device, and launch HECATE Gaming Center.
The published instructions specifically describe Windows 10 or later. They do not establish a macOS version, so do not assume the same control panel is available on a Mac. If the application does not detect the speakers, confirm the USB connection and the active Windows playback device before reinstalling.

What RGB controls does HECATE Gaming Center provide?
The manufacturer describes HECATE Gaming Center as a control layer for the speaker’s DSP and lighting. Instead of merely cycling the built-in effects, the application can expose choices for dynamic lighting modes and adjustments to brightness, rotation and color.
Brightness, color and rotation
Use the software when the hardware button cycle is too limited. Brightness changes let you reduce the visual intensity without disabling the effect. Color controls let you choose the appearance of supported effects, and rotation controls alter the direction or movement of animated patterns.
Reactive lighting
Tom’s Guide reports reactive RGB behavior in the software, meaning lighting can respond to audio activity. Exact options can change with the installed application version, so the labels in your copy of HECATE Gaming Center may not match every review screenshot or description.
If changing lighting interrupts playback
Tom’s Hardware observed a brief Spotify playback disruption when changing lighting. Save important work before experimenting, and allow playback to resume before concluding that the speakers or source device have failed. A short interruption during a lighting change is a practical software behavior reported by that review, not a documented button requirement.
Can I adjust EQ, bass and surround sound?
Yes. The HECATE software provides more granular DSP controls than the three physical sound presets, although the exact set depends on the software version and connected device.
Equalizer
Tom’s Guide reports a 10-band equalizer. Use it for targeted changes such as reducing a boomy low end, bringing speech forward or adding presence to games. Make small changes and test the same recording after each adjustment; a large boost in one band can make the result louder without making it clearer.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteAdditional processing reported by reviews
Tom’s Hardware reports controls labeled Dynamic Bass, Audio Brilliant, Smart Volume and Voice Clarity, along with equalizer and volume controls. These labels describe that review’s software version and should not be treated as a guarantee that every release presents an identical interface.
Virtual 7.1 surround
The manufacturer describes the application as working with the speaker’s DSP and a virtual 7.1 surround experience. Tom’s Guide reports virtual 7.1 and Tom’s Hardware reports a headphone 7.1 surround control. This is signal processing, not seven physical speaker drivers: the G2000 Pro remains a two-speaker system, so the effect depends on the source, placement and listening position.

Firmware updates
Tom’s Guide reports firmware-update support in the application. Apply an update only when the speakers are connected reliably, and avoid interrupting power or USB during the process. The supplied documentation does not state a universal update schedule or a rollback procedure.
What is the difference between the button controls and the software?
Use the buttons for immediate, repeatable presets; use HECATE Gaming Center for detailed tuning while connected to a supported Windows computer.
| Capability | G2000 Pro buttons | HECATE software |
|---|---|---|
| Lighting power | Toggle with a 2-second hold of G | Available alongside other lighting controls |
| Built-in lighting effects | Double-press G to cycle | Choose dynamic modes and adjust brightness, rotation and color; reactive lighting is reported by Tom’s Guide |
| Sound selection | Cycle Music, Gaming and Movie | Use a reported 10-band EQ and additional DSP controls, depending on version |
| Surround | No separate surround parameter is documented for the button | Virtual 7.1 or headphone 7.1 controls are reported by the manufacturer and reviews |
| Firmware | No button-based update process is documented | Firmware updates are reported as an application feature |
The software does not replace the basic button functions. It adds a second control layer, which is useful when you want a saved-looking tuning workflow on a PC but unnecessary for a quick light or preset change.
Which connection should I use for audio settings?
The G2000 Pro supports Bluetooth, USB-C/USB-A and a 3.5 mm input. The manual also documents USB audio streaming, AUX operation, Bluetooth pairing and a headphone output.
USB audio
USB is the most practical connection for HECATE software because it provides a direct computer audio path while you configure the speaker. Confirm that Windows is sending sound to the G2000 Pro rather than to a monitor, laptop speaker or another headset.
AUX
Use the 3.5 mm input for an analog source. The source device controls the signal before it reaches the speakers, so an equalizer in the source operating system or app can interact with the G2000 Pro’s own DSP.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is convenient for phones and tablets. If a sound-mode change appears to do nothing, first confirm that the Bluetooth device is still connected and that playback has not moved to another output.
Headphones
The manual documents a headphone output. When headphones are connected, listen for the expected change in output before troubleshooting the speaker drivers; the active output path can make a working setting seem ineffective.

What should I check if a lighting or audio change does not work?
Most failed changes come from using the wrong gesture, monitoring the wrong output or changing a software setting during a short playback interruption. Work through these checks in order.
- Check the gesture. A single press changes sound mode, a double press changes lighting effect, and a two-second hold toggles lighting power. Release the button after the required action instead of combining gestures.
- Confirm the speaker is on. The documented factory reset requires the speakers to be powered on, and normal controls likewise assume an active speaker.
- Watch the indicator. Purple, red and intermittent blue patterns identify Music, Gaming and Movie respectively. If the expected indicator does not appear, press G once again rather than holding it.
- Verify the active input. Check whether the source is USB, AUX or Bluetooth. A computer may continue playing through another device even though the G2000 Pro is connected.
- Check the Windows output device. For software testing, select the G2000 Pro as the playback device and reconnect USB if HECATE Gaming Center cannot see it.
- Allow for a brief software interruption. Lighting changes have been observed to interrupt Spotify playback temporarily. Resume playback and test again before changing cables or resetting the speaker.
- Use the hardware control as a comparison. If the button changes the preset or lighting but the app does not, the issue is likely software detection or version compatibility rather than the speaker’s basic controls.
How do I disable prompt tones?
Press and hold the power and + buttons together for 2 seconds. The combination toggles the speaker’s prompt tones. It is separate from both the lighting command and the sound-mode command, so it does not change the selected audio preset.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
How do I factory-reset the G2000 Pro?
With the speakers on, press and hold G and the power button together for 5 seconds. Use this only after checking the input and software connection, because a reset is a recovery step rather than a routine way to select a sound mode.
The manual documents the button combination but does not describe a backup or restore process for custom HECATE profiles. Record any EQ or lighting preferences you want to recreate before resetting.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What specifications matter when setting expectations?
The current HECATE product specification lists the following electrical and acoustic figures:
| Specification | Published value |
|---|---|
| Rated output | 16 W + 16 W RMS |
| Rated frequency response | 75 Hz–20 kHz |
| Power input | 15 V⎓4 A |
| Audio connections | Bluetooth, USB-C/USB-A and 3.5 mm input |
The response figure describes the rated range, not a promise that every room, placement or DSP setting will produce equal output at every frequency. Virtual surround also changes the perceived presentation through processing; it does not change the physical two-speaker layout.

For the least troubleshooting, configure the speaker in a predictable order:
- Connect the G2000 Pro by USB when you need HECATE controls, or select Bluetooth/AUX for a non-computer source.
- Confirm the active playback device and start a familiar song, game scene or film clip.
- Choose Music, Gaming or Movie with a single press of G, listening for the matching indicator.
- Set lighting with a two-second hold or double-press, depending on whether you want it off or merely changed.
- Open HECATE Gaming Center for EQ, bass, voice, volume, surround or detailed lighting changes.
- Change one software control at a time and test playback after each change, especially when changing lighting.
- Keep the hardware button method available as a fallback when the computer is unavailable or the application is not detecting the speaker.
This separation makes it easier to tell whether a result comes from the speaker’s built-in preset, the computer’s audio output or HECATE DSP processing.

Frequently asked questions
Do the G2000 Pro’s hardware controls work without HECATE Gaming Center?
Yes. Lighting toggles, lighting-effect cycling and the three sound presets are controlled directly from the speaker. The application is needed for the deeper EQ, lighting customization, surround and firmware features described by the manufacturer and reviews.
Does virtual 7.1 mean the G2000 Pro has seven speakers?
No. Virtual 7.1 is DSP processing intended to create a wider or more positional impression. The product remains a two-speaker system, so placement and listening position still affect the result.
Can I install the official control software on macOS?
The manual specifies Windows 10 or later for the G2000 PRO software. It does not establish a macOS release, so Mac users should rely on the documented speaker controls unless Edifier publishes separate Mac support.
Why did my music stop briefly after I changed the lights?
Tom’s Hardware reported a temporary Spotify interruption while changing lighting. Recheck the active output and resume playback; if the interruption repeats, make lighting changes when you can safely pause audio and save your work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the G2000 Pro’s lighting controls while the speakers are connected by Bluetooth?
The lighting commands are physical-button functions, so they do not require the computer software. Bluetooth only determines the audio source; it does not remove the speaker’s local G-button controls.
Will a factory reset update or reinstall the speaker firmware?
The manual documents the reset as a settings recovery combination, not as a firmware-installation procedure. Firmware work is handled through the HECATE application when that feature is available.
Recommended Free Tools
How can I tell whether an EQ change came from Windows or HECATE?
Temporarily disable the computer’s system or app equalizer, then make one small HECATE adjustment while playing the same passage. Keeping only one processing layer active makes the audible result easier to identify.
Is the Movie indicator supposed to stay solid blue?
No. The documented Movie indication is rows of blue indicators blinking intermittently. A different pattern can mean another sound mode is selected or that you are viewing a lighting effect rather than the sound indicator.
