To change Nintendo Music’s streaming quality, open the app, tap your profile icon in the upper-right corner, then tap Playback and downloads. Choose Data Saving, Balanced, or High quality. Lower quality uses less mobile data; downloading music in advance lets you listen offline, and downloads are always High quality.
Where is Nintendo Music’s data-saving setting?
The setting is in the Nintendo Music app under your profile, not in a separate cellular-data menu. Nintendo’s official tips also caution listeners to be mindful of data use while streaming.

Choose Data Saving if limiting mobile-data use matters most, Balanced for a middle ground, or High quality if sound quality is the priority and your connection and plan can accommodate greater data use. Nintendo Music Support lists the following approximate bitrates:

These are approximate bitrate figures, not a guaranteed data allowance. Comparing the figures, Balanced is about three times Data Saving’s bitrate, and High quality is about five times Data Saving’s. Actual mobile-data use also depends on listening time and other factors. Nintendo does not publish a per-hour data-use estimate in the cited support information, so there is no official megabytes-per-hour figure to use for budgeting.
Does Nintendo Music have a separate mobile-data quality setting?
Nintendo’s documented options are the three streaming qualities in Playback and downloads. The cited guidance does not identify a second control for cellular data, a Wi-Fi-only streaming option, or automatic quality switching based on the connection.

If your goal is to avoid streaming over cellular altogether, download music ahead of time in the app and listen offline. This avoids needing a live connection for that listening session; it is different from selecting a lower streaming bitrate.
Can I download Nintendo Music for offline listening?
Yes. Nintendo says music can be listened to offline by downloading it in advance in the app. Downloads are fixed at High quality, regardless of the streaming-quality setting you selected. The web version does not support offline playback.

That fixed download quality matters if you are trying to minimize data use: choosing Data Saving changes streaming quality, but it does not lower the quality of downloaded tracks. Download music when you have a suitable connection, then use the app’s offline listening capability when you want to avoid streaming.
What do I need to use Nintendo Music?
Nintendo Music is a game-music streaming service that requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo describes access through the app or a web browser, but offline playback is an app feature, not a web-version feature.

Availability is country-dependent. Nintendo maintains a list of supported countries and says additional regions may be added; if you cannot access the service, check that list for your market rather than assuming the service is available everywhere.

Does Nintendo Music automatically lower quality when I switch to mobile data?
Nintendo’s published guidance describes selecting one of three streaming qualities, but does not confirm automatic switching based on whether you are on Wi-Fi or cellular data. If you want to reduce streaming data use, select a lower quality in the app settings.
Can I choose a different quality for each song?
Nintendo’s support information describes three choices for streaming quality, but does not say that listeners can set a different quality track by track. The available instructions therefore support changing the streaming choice in the app settings, not assigning qualities to individual songs.
Why can’t I use Nintendo Music in my country?
Nintendo Music availability varies by country, and Nintendo says more regions may be added over time. Check Nintendo’s current country availability list to see whether the service is offered in your market.
