As of October 30, 2026, The Game Awards ballot is closed while nominees are being prepared. When voting opens after the nominees are announced in mid-November, use TheGameAwards.com, sign in with an authenticated account, and vote in each category you care about. Regular awards, including Game of the Year, combine 90% jury voting with 10% public voting. The separate Players’ Voice award is decided entirely by fans through three rounds. The published winner-voting deadline is Wednesday, December 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. PT; the ceremony follows on December 10.
Is The Game Awards 2026 voting open yet?
No. The official site currently says that the 2026 nominees are coming in mid-November, and its vote path is not accepting ballots. The Players’ Voice brackets page still shows the previous cycle as closed. Do not treat any old nominee list, screenshot or social post as the 2026 ballot.

What are the two fan-vote tracks?
Fans participate in The Game Awards in two different ways. Your regular-category ballot contributes a 10% public share to a blended result; Players’ Voice is the current category whose winner is selected 100% by fans.

The official FAQ specifies TheGameAwards.com for voting worldwide. For winner voting in China, it directs fans to Bilibili (the FAQ spells the service name differently in one place). The available information does not confirm that Bilibili hosts Players’ Voice as well.
How do I vote on TheGameAwards.com?
The following is the last documented public ballot flow, from the 2025 cycle. The 2026 page may change its labels, account providers or category count, so use the live instructions when the ballot opens.

- Sign in. The 2025 ballot used an authenticated connected account, with providers such as X/Twitter, Facebook and Google. The 2026 provider list has not been republished. If the site asks you to create or connect an account, complete that step before selecting nominees.
- Open a category. In 2025 the jury ballot covered 29 categories, including Game of the Year. Whether 2026 uses the same number is not yet confirmed. Select a category to see its nominees and the current ballot status.
- Select one nominee. Choose the game you want in that category and use the on-screen Vote control. The 2025 interface changed the control to Vote Placed after accepting the selection.
- Continue through the categories you want to answer. A regular-category ballot is one choice per category; it is not a ranked list. You can stop after the categories that matter to you, then return while the winner-voting window remains open.
- Check the live confirmation. Keep the confirmation shown by the site rather than relying on a browser back button. The 2025 flow allowed a voter to switch a selection before the ceremony, but the 2026 FAQ does not promise that feature. Do not assume a change is saved unless the live ballot says so.
- Use the regional route if applicable. Fans in China should follow the official FAQ’s Bilibili direction for winner voting instead of assuming the global page is the correct endpoint.
There is no entry fee and no developer submission form for voters. The Game Awards says a developer or publisher should not have to pay for a game to be considered.
How does Players’ Voice voting work?
Players’ Voice is a separate, fan-only bracket. It is not a second vote inside every regular award. The standing format has three rounds:

The brackets page’s Dec. 1, Dec. 4 and Dec. 8 openings are the displayed 2025 pattern, not confirmed 2026 dates. The official account also told 2025 Round 2 voters to lock their five selections by 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT) at the Players’ Voice brackets page. Wait for a 2026 announcement before treating those times as deadlines.
When the 2026 bracket is live, open the Players’ Voice link separately from the regular-category ballot. In Round 1, mark up to 10 games from the 30-game slate. In Round 2, mark up to five of the ten survivors. In Round 3, make one final selection. Missing a round means you lose that round’s opportunity; the site’s live rules control whether an earlier selection carries forward.
Players’ Voice began in 2019. The 2025 winner shown on the closed official bracket was Hollow Knight: Silksong from Team Cherry. Other games visible on that old slate included Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Dispatch, Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves; none of those names should be treated as a 2026 nominee.

Can I vote for Game of the Year?
Yes. Game of the Year is a regular award, so it receives the same 90% jury and 10% public treatment as the other standard categories. Your choice affects the public portion but does not, by itself, decide the winner. The 2026 Game of the Year nominees will not be known until the official mid-November announcement.
Players’ Voice is the place for a wholly fan-decided result. You may participate in both tracks, but they are separate ballots and have different nominee pools and eligibility rules.
Does my vote count when fans have only 10%?
It counts as part of the aggregated public ballot, which supplies one-tenth of the final result in each regular category. In a close contest, that share can affect the outcome; in a wide jury lead, a public preference may not be enough to reverse it. No official figure says how many individual votes are required to swing a category, and 2026 vote totals have not been published.
The Game Awards says it uses a blended system because a 100% public vote could disadvantage games available on only one platform and could be vulnerable to social engineering. The stated aim is to combine broad audience input with a consistent cross-category process.
How large is fan participation?
The size of the audience explains why authenticated voting is treated as a separate part of the show. The Game Awards reported more than 123 million authenticated viewer votes in the 2025 cycle, including Players’ Voice, an increase of more than 10% from 2024. That is a combined figure for the event, not a published count for one category and not a forecast for 2026.
The 2025 broadcast reached 171 million global livestreams, up from 154 million in 2024. The same official report recorded 4.4 million peak concurrent viewers across Twitch, YouTube and other western platforms, nearly 1.4 million on the 4K YouTube feed, and more than 2.4 million platform-wide on YouTube including co-streams. Those audience numbers are viewing statistics, not ballots, but they show why a public result can attract substantial attention even when it represents only 10% of a regular award.
When does The Game Awards voting close?
The winner-voting deadline for the regular awards is Wednesday, December 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. PT. The ceremony is Thursday, December 10, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The official site has not yet posted the separate open and close stamps for the three 2026 Players’ Voice rounds, so check the bracket itself rather than relying on the 2025 pattern.

Who nominates the games and chooses the winners?
For most categories, an international jury of more than 100 media and influencer outlets supplies the nominees. Each outlet submits one confidential, unranked ballot listing its top five games in a category on behalf of its collective editorial staff, not one individual journalist. The five games appearing on the most ballots become nominees; a tie can produce six or more nominees.
Specialized juries handle esports, accessibility and best adaptation. Geoff Keighley, the show’s producer, is not a jury member and does not vote on nominees or winners. The advisory board also has no role in the awards process and learns results with the public.
Jury membership is international. A 2026 compilation of the official list counted 17 United States outlets, 17 United Kingdom outlets and 14 Brazilian main-jury outlets; the official description remains more than 100 outlets worldwide.
What games are eligible for the awards?
The published rules cover more than brand-new full releases.

- Live-service games: An older game can be considered when new content, improvements or service updates merit recognition. Best Ongoing Game exists for continuing titles.
- Early Access: A game that is publicly available by the relevant deadline can be eligible; the jury decides whether it warrants a nomination.
- DLC and expansions: Downloadable content, expansion packs and new seasons can qualify in any category when the jury finds the new creative or technical work worthy.
- Remakes and remasters: These are also eligible when their work meets the category’s standard.
Publishers may send review copies or codes to voting outlets, but there is no paid submission route. Eligibility does not guarantee a nomination.
What should I do if the vote button or ballot is missing?
- You see the home page only: The ballot is probably closed, or the 2026 controls have not launched. The /vote path currently redirects to the home page.
- You see old nominees: Leave the page and return through the current official home page. The 2025 Players’ Voice slate remains indexed as closed and is not a 2026 ballot.
- Sign-in fails: Use the provider offered by the live page, clear an expired session, or try a current browser. Do not infer the 2026 provider list from 2025 screenshots.
- Your region is China: Follow the FAQ’s Bilibili instruction for winner voting rather than repeatedly refreshing the global ballot.
- A round has ended: Players’ Voice is time-limited. The official bracket’s displayed deadline takes precedence over social posts or reposted graphics.
- You are trying to vote for a game released after the cutoff: A game must satisfy the applicable main-award or Players’ Voice eligibility date before it can appear in the field.
Can I change a vote or vote in every category?
The last documented 2025 interface let voters switch a category selection before the ceremony, but that behavior is not guaranteed for 2026. Treat the on-screen confirmation as authoritative. A regular ballot presents one selection per category rather than a ranked list, and you can answer only the categories the live page makes available to you. Players’ Voice uses its own round limits, so selecting ten games in Round 1 does not create ten final winners.
Do not try to bypass authentication with duplicate accounts or automated submissions. The official process is designed around an authenticated viewer account, and no 2026 rule promises that duplicate activity will be accepted or counted.

Is attending or watching the ceremony part of voting?
No. In-person tickets are a separate limited sale through AXS, and buying one does not create a ballot. The ceremony streams free across major services on December 10, with the opening act scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.

Co-streaming is encouraged. Streamers can register through the official co-stream sign-up page. Watching, co-streaming and posting about the show do not substitute for an authenticated ballot before the winner-voting deadline.
What is different from the 2025 voting instructions?
The 2025 public flow is useful only as a navigation example. It documented the Vote Now or Start Voting buttons, connected-account sign-in, a 29-category counter and the Vote Placed confirmation. The 2026 FAQ has not confirmed the same labels, category count, login providers or vote-editing policy.
Likewise, the old Players’ Voice dates are a standing template, not a 2026 calendar. Use the current site’s text when each round opens, especially for the close time and whether a selection can be changed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I vote without buying a ticket to The Game Awards?
Yes. The public ballot is an online, authenticated vote and does not require an in-person ticket. Tickets sold through AXS are for attending the Los Angeles show, not for unlocking voting.

Use the Players’ Voice link published by The Game Awards, currently http://bit.ly/tgaplayers. It may show the previous cycle as closed until the 2026 bracket is launched.
Does Geoff Keighley choose the winners?
No. The official FAQ says Geoff Keighley is not a jury member and does not vote on nominees or winners. The advisory board likewise has no role in the awards process.
