Cancel an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription from the account that bills you, not from the Creative Cloud desktop app. A direct Adobe purchase is canceled under Plans and payment; an Apple, Google, Microsoft, or other reseller purchase must be canceled with that provider. Before confirming, identify whether the plan is month-to-month, annual paid monthly, or annual prepaid and read the review screen: US refund and early-termination rules differ by plan and by the 14-day point after the initial order. How do I cancel a Creative Cloud plan bought directly from Adobe?
Use Adobe Account in a web browser and complete every confirmation screen. Closing the desktop app, deleting it, or removing a payment card does not cancel the subscription.

- Sign in to the Adobe account used for the subscription.
- Open Plans and payment and find the relevant plan.
- Select Manage plan.
- Select Cancel your plan.
- Check the displayed plan details, then select Continue to cancel.
- Choose a cancellation reason and continue.
- Read the final review, including any refund, cancellation fee, and service end date.
- Select Confirm cancellation.
- Keep Adobe’s confirmation email and check the plan page again for a canceled status.
If the account has more than one Creative Cloud or document-service plan, repeat the process for each one you intend to end. Adobe says cancellation can be temporarily unavailable for up to 24 hours while a payment is processing or has a payment problem; wait for that transaction to resolve and try again rather than assuming the plan is canceled.
What proves that the cancellation worked?
The strongest record is the confirmation email together with a canceled status in Adobe Account. Save both as PDFs or screenshots showing the date, plan name, and any stated end date. If the account still shows an active plan after the confirmation flow, contact Adobe before the next billing event and provide the saved confirmation.

Where do I cancel if Apple, Google, Microsoft, or a reseller bills me?
The company that appears on the charge controls cancellation and usually controls refunds. Adobe cannot complete a third-party subscription cancellation from Adobe Account.

Use the receipt to identify the billing channel. A charge that names Apple, Google, Microsoft, a mobile carrier, or another reseller is not an Adobe-direct order, even if the apps are installed from Adobe. Canceling the wrong channel can leave the billed subscription active.

Adobe’s 14-day language is tied to the initial order, not to the date you most recently renewed or changed a plan. Promotional pricing, an upgrade, or an add-on can create a different order record, so rely on the plan card and the cancellation review rather than estimating from memory.
How is the 50% annual paid-monthly fee calculated?
For a US annual contract billed monthly, the fee is half of the unpaid commitment remaining when you cancel after the 14-day window. Adobe’s example says that canceling in the ninth month leaves three months; the charge is 50% of those three remaining months, collected as a lump sum. The review screen should display the actual amount before you confirm.

California customers are identified separately in Adobe’s terms with a 30% charge of the annual commitment after the applicable period. Do not apply the 50% figure to a California order or to a subscription governed by another country’s terms.

What does the 14-day refund rule mean for annual prepaid plans?
An annual prepaid plan is fully refundable when canceled within 14 days of the initial order. After that point, Adobe describes the payment as non-refundable and says service remains available for the contracted term; canceling does not create a prorated cash refund for the unused months.
How can I avoid an unexpected cancellation fee?
You cannot remove a contractual fee that genuinely applies, but you can prevent surprises by checking the plan and the final calculation before confirming.
- Open the plan card first. Record the exact contract type, renewal date, billing amount, and account email. Annual paid monthly and month-to-month plans can look similar on a bank statement.
- Check the initial-order date. If a full refund matters, submit the cancellation inside the 14-day window stated in the applicable US terms.
- Use the review screen as the quote. Do not rely on an online calculator or a fee remembered from a previous plan. Adobe should show the refund or lump-sum fee and the date paid access ends.
- Save evidence before leaving. Keep the review screen, confirmation email, and account status. These records show what Adobe presented at the time you canceled.
- Check every Adobe ID. A household or workplace can have multiple Adobe accounts using one payment card. Canceling one ID does not cancel another.
- Use the original billing channel. A reseller’s refund timetable can differ from Adobe’s direct terms.
Do not cancel by allowing a payment to fail. A failed payment can be retried later, and it does not establish that the contract was ended.
Why was I charged after canceling Adobe?
Adobe says a charge after cancellation is usually the final charge for the current billing period. An annual paid-monthly cancellation can also generate the lump-sum amount for the remaining commitment, and that amount may appear on the next bill even though the plan is already scheduled to end.

- Final current-period bill: Service continues through the end of the already-paid monthly period for eligible plans, so the last ordinary bill can arrive after you click cancel.
- Annual-plan cancellation amount: The next statement can include the applicable percentage of the remaining annual obligation.
- Trial conversion: A free trial may have converted to a paid plan before you canceled.
- Expired promotion: A temporary discount may have ended, making the latest recurring amount higher.
- Multiple Adobe IDs: Another account may still be active on the same card or bank account.
- Duplicate order: Two separate checkouts can create two subscriptions, each with its own receipt and cancellation status.
- Retried failed payment: Adobe may collect a previously declined installment after the bank approves it.
- Regional price change: A currency or regional-price adjustment can alter the amount without changing the plan name.
- Bank or card fees: A foreign-transaction, overdraft, or other financial-institution fee can be separate from Adobe’s charge.
How do I investigate a post-cancellation charge?
- Match the transaction date and amount to the Adobe receipt, the final review screen, and the current billing period.
- Sign in to every Adobe ID that may use the payment method and inspect each plan card.
- Check whether the charge description belongs to Adobe or to Apple, Google, Microsoft, a reseller, or your bank.
- Compare the amount with the stated cancellation fee if the plan was annual paid monthly.
- If the amount does not match any receipt or the account still shows active billing, contact the company that processed the payment and provide the confirmation records.
Keep the original transaction, not only a screenshot from a banking app. The processor’s receipt identifies the legal seller and is the fastest way to send a dispute to the correct support team.
What happens to my Creative Cloud files after cancellation?
Paid applications and services remain available until the end of the applicable billing period, while the Adobe account itself remains active with free-membership benefits. Cancellation does not erase files saved on your computer.
Cloud storage falls to 5 GB
After the paid membership ends, Creative Cloud storage is reduced to 5 GB. If online files exceed that allowance, Adobe gives 30 days to move or delete enough data to get under the limit. Download important cloud documents, libraries, and shared assets before the paid end date; do not wait until the storage warning period is nearly over.
Adobe warns that free cloud files can eventually be deleted after inactivity following an email notice. Treat the 30-day reduction period as a deadline to make a verified local or independent backup, not as permanent extra storage.

Adobe says Lightroom originals remain stored for one year after membership lapses. Lightroom Classic keeps locally stored photos available, although some modules become unavailable without the paid membership. What happens to generative credits?
Any remaining generative credits expire when the membership is canceled. Use or document the results you need before confirming cancellation; unused credits are not a reason to delay a cancellation that avoids a fee.

Use this short pre-cancellation checklist to prevent both billing and data problems.
- Identify the billing seller from the receipt.
- Sign in with the Adobe ID that owns the plan.
- Save cloud files, Lightroom originals, libraries, and other shared assets locally.
- Record the plan type, initial-order date, renewal date, and current storage use.
- Check whether another Adobe ID or duplicate order uses the same payment method.
- Review any trial, promotional discount, add-on, or recent plan change.
- Proceed through every Adobe confirmation screen until the final confirmation appears.
- Save the email and verify the account status after cancellation.
- Add a calendar reminder for the stated service end date and storage-reduction deadline.
What if the cancellation option is missing or the account still bills me?
A missing cancellation control does not necessarily mean the plan is permanent. Adobe identifies payment processing or a payment problem as reasons cancellation can be unavailable for up to 24 hours.
When the button is unavailable
- Check the plan page for a pending payment, failed payment, or account warning.
- Wait until the payment state is resolved, then sign in again and reopen Manage plan.
- Confirm that you are using the Adobe ID tied to the receipt; a different login can show no plan or a different plan.
- If the order was bought through a reseller, stop using Adobe Account and cancel through that seller.
When you canceled but billing continues
First compare the charge with the service end date shown in the confirmation. A final current-period charge can be valid while access remains active until that date. If charges continue beyond the confirmed end date, or the amount is not the fee shown at cancellation, submit the confirmation email, account status, receipt, and transaction dates to the billing provider.
Do US Adobe cancellation terms apply everywhere?
No. The fee, refund, and service-end rules above are US terms. Adobe’s help material directs subscribers in other countries to country-specific terms, which can set different notice periods, taxes, refunds, or early-termination amounts. Select the country associated with the billing address and read the terms shown for that account before relying on a US figure.
The same geographic caution applies to reseller purchases: the seller’s contract, local consumer law, and app-store rules may govern the transaction instead of Adobe’s direct US terms.

Can I cancel Creative Cloud on the last day of a billing period?
You can submit a cancellation then, but the account page should be your authority for the actual end date. A request made close to a renewal may be processed after a new billing event, so save the review screen and confirmation showing when Adobe accepted it.
Does canceling Creative Cloud also close my Adobe account?
