To make AI-generated slides look on-brand, configure your organization’s approved fonts, colors, logo files, and presentation template in the slide platform before generating anything. In Microsoft PowerPoint, that means publishing a Brand Kit and choosing it from Copilot’s + > Select brand menu. In Canva, select a Brand Kit and, when layout consistency matters, pair it with a Brand Template. Google Slides has no documented automatic brand-kit workflow in the reviewed help material, so use its theme colors and background-image controls as a manual cleanup step. Generate a short sample first, then inspect every slide for substitutions, distorted logos, contrast problems, and broken layouts.
What should you collect before creating an on-brand AI presentation?
Gather the assets that define your visual system before opening the AI feature. A prompt can describe a style, but it cannot reliably enforce the exact files and values your organization has approved. Centralizing the source assets gives the generator something concrete to use and gives reviewers a standard against which to check the output.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesApproved logo files and variants
Collect the primary logo, horizontal and stacked versions, monochrome versions, and any light or dark treatments your guidelines permit. Keep transparent-background files where appropriate and identify which variant belongs on light, dark, photographic, or crowded backgrounds. Do not assume the generator will choose the right lockup: a slide can contain a technically correct mark in an unusable orientation or with insufficient clear space.
Exact brand colors
Record the approved values, preferably as hexadecimal colors for digital work, and note which are primary, secondary, accent, text, and background colors. Include contrast guidance if your organization has it. A color name such as “blue” leaves room for interpretation; a hex value and a documented role are more useful when you audit generated slides.

Brand fonts and their permissions
Obtain the actual font files and the permitted weights, styles, and fallback fonts. Check that the license allows embedding or uploading the files to the service you plan to use. Canva’s help documentation specifically says uploaded fonts should be licensed for embedding; treat that as a prerequisite rather than an after-the-fact legal check.
Current template or slide master
Use the latest approved presentation template, including title, section-divider, content, data, and closing layouts. A template or slide master controls spacing, placeholders, and logo position more effectively than a paragraph telling an AI tool to “follow our style.” Remove obsolete layouts before you publish the template so the generator has fewer opportunities to select the wrong structure.
Usage guidance
Write down rules that are easy to verify: minimum logo size, clear space, allowed backgrounds, heading hierarchy, and when an accent color may be used. This guidance can accompany a kit or template and gives a reviewer a checklist when the output looks plausible but violates a rule.
How do I add brand assets to Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint?
Configure and publish a Microsoft Brand Kit, then select it in the PowerPoint Copilot pane before you ask for slides. Microsoft’s current documentation says a Brand Kit can contain PowerPoint templates, colors, fonts, logos, images, icons, and brand voice, and lists a Copilot Premium license as required. Access and available controls still depend on your organization’s Microsoft 365 configuration and your assigned role.
1. Create the Brand Kit with the right permissions
A brand manager or another appropriately permissioned creator creates the kit, adds the approved resources, and publishes it. Microsoft describes a Brand Kit as “a reusable collection of approved brand resources and guidance that Copilot can use in supported Microsoft 365 creation experiences.” The person generating a deck may only be able to select a published kit; they may not be able to edit its assets.
2. Add a template or slide master
Microsoft’s documented template route accepts a .potx or .pptx upload in the Brand Kit. Include the layouts you want Copilot to use and remove experimental or retired masters first. A Brand Kit can also reference assets stored in an Organization Assets Library. Microsoft documents supported third-party digital-asset-management systems as another way to make centrally managed files available, but the exact connection and permissions are set by your organization.

3. Publish the kit and verify visibility
Publish the kit after the owner has checked the file versions, color values, and font permissions. Ask a normal content creator to verify that the kit appears in their account; an unpublished kit, a role mismatch, or a licensing entitlement can make a correctly configured kit invisible to the person who needs it.

4. Select the kit in PowerPoint
- Open the presentation in PowerPoint.
- Open the Copilot pane.
- Select +.
- Choose Select brand.
- Select the published Brand Kit.
- Describe the presentation you want, including audience, objective, length, and content requirements.
Choosing the kit supplies approved resources for the generation request. It does not remove the need to inspect the result: a selected kit is context for Copilot, not a guarantee that every generated element will be perfect.
5. Decide whether strict brand adherence is appropriate
Microsoft’s template settings include strict brand adherence. When enabled, it can limit Copilot to approved template and slide-master layouts. The documented control belongs to the Brand Kit owner or brand manager, not to the person generating an individual presentation. Use it when consistency matters more than allowing novel layouts; leave more flexibility only when your governance process can review the additional variation.
6. Keep the prompt specific without trying to replace the kit
State the audience, purpose, source material, slide count, and any content that must appear. You can mention a desired emphasis, such as using the approved accent color for a callout, but do not treat prompt wording as a substitute for the kit. If a logo, font, or color is missing from the published resources, Copilot has no authoritative asset to apply.

Upload or define your official logos, colors, and fonts in a Canva Brand Kit, then select that kit when using Canva AI. When you need repeatable slide structure as well as visual styling, use a Brand Template from the kit. Canva recommends combining a Brand Kit with a Brand Template for the most consistent results.
1. Build the Brand Kit
Canva’s help center describes a Brand Kit as a place to organize official logos, color palettes, fonts, and other assets. You can add the files yourself, and Canva also describes creating a kit automatically from a website or PDF. Treat automatic extraction as a starting point: compare every extracted color, logo, and typeface with your approved source before using the kit for a public presentation.
2. Upload fonts only when the license allows it
Canva’s font-upload guidance lists OTF, TTF, and WOFF formats and says the fonts should be licensed for embedding. Confirm that your current Canva plan permits font uploads and that your license covers this use. If the legal status or plan eligibility is unclear, use a permitted brand font already available in the service rather than uploading an unlicensed file.
3. Add a Brand Template for layout control
A Brand Kit supplies visual assets; a Brand Template supplies a predefined layout or structure. Lock elements that must not move—such as a logo position, footer, legal line, or background treatment—before adding the template to the kit. Locked components reduce accidental changes while leaving designated text and image areas available for generation.

4. Select the kit during generation
- Open Canva AI and start the presentation workflow.
- Choose the relevant Brand Kit when Canva asks which brand context to use.
- Choose the Brand Template if the deck must follow a defined slide structure.
- Describe the audience, message, content sources, and desired number of slides.
- Generate a small sample before producing the complete deck.
Canva says a Brand Kit can apply brand colors, fonts, and other assets, while a Brand Template adds structure. Those are complementary functions: selecting only the kit may produce on-brand colors and type while still allowing layouts that your team does not use.
5. Expect font and page limitations
Canva cautions that some custom fonts may not be available during extraction and can be replaced by a similar available font. It also notes that AI may skip pages that do not match the prompt or that contain unsupported or complex elements. Check the generated text styles and page count rather than assuming that an omitted or substituted element is a rendering error you can ignore.
What can I do in Google Slides if there is no brand-kit workflow?
Use Google Slides as a manual fallback: apply your custom colors to the theme and set the approved logo or other artwork as a background image on one slide or the whole presentation. The reviewed Google help material documents these editing controls but does not establish a dedicated AI brand-kit workflow, so do not expect Google Slides to automatically apply an organization’s fonts and logo to AI-generated slides.
Apply the color system to the theme
Open the theme controls, add each approved custom color, and assign it to the appropriate theme role. Apply the theme consistently instead of recoloring individual shapes one at a time. This reduces drift when you revise a deck, but it does not prove that every generated object uses the intended role; inspect charts, text, and illustrations separately.
Recommended Free Tools
Set a logo or branded artwork as a background
Use the background-image control for one slide or for the entire presentation, depending on the logo placement and the deck’s needs. A background can protect a fixed mark from accidental movement, but it can also make later editing harder. Leave sufficient contrast and avoid placing a background logo where generated content will overlap it.
Handle fonts manually
Choose the closest approved font available in your Google Slides environment and verify it on another account if the deck will be shared widely. Because the reviewed documentation does not describe automatic font enforcement, treat manual font selection and a final slide-by-slide check as mandatory.
Which workflow gives the most control over brand consistency?
Microsoft Copilot and Canva provide reusable brand contexts; Google Slides provides documented manual theme and background controls instead of a dedicated kit. The table separates what the reviewed product documentation establishes from decisions your team must still make.

How should I review an AI-generated deck before sharing it?
Generate a short sample first, then inspect every slide against the approved assets and template. A ten-slide sample can expose substitutions or layout failures before you spend time editing a full presentation.
Check typography
- Confirm headings, body text, captions, and chart labels use the approved family and weights.
- Look for fallback fonts in pasted text, tables, speaker notes, and newly added slides.
- Check line breaks and text-box overflow; a substituted font can change wrapping even when the style name looks correct.
Check color fidelity and contrast
- Compare fills, strokes, text, and chart series with the approved hex values.
- Look for near-match colors introduced by illustrations, stock imagery, or gradients.
- Verify that text remains readable on every background, including dark or photographic slides.
Check logo treatment
- Verify the correct variant for the background and intended audience.
- Look for stretching, cropping, compression artifacts, and insufficient clear space.
- Confirm that a logo has not been placed over a generated image or covered by a chart.
Check structure and content
- Confirm the number and order of slides match the brief.
- Check that title, section, data, and closing slides use approved layouts.
- Look for skipped pages, unsupported elements, missing source content, and awkwardly empty areas.
Record substitutions instead of silently accepting them
Keep a short exception list while reviewing: missing font, wrong logo variant, altered color, unlocked element, or unsupported page. Fix the source kit or template when the same exception appears repeatedly; repairing each deck independently allows the error to return in the next generation.
What are the common failure modes and their fixes?
The brand kit does not appear
For Microsoft Copilot, verify that the kit was published, that the user has the required role and entitlement, and that the organization has not restricted the feature. For Canva, confirm that the user selected the correct kit in the AI workflow and that the account can use the relevant Brand Kit features. If access still differs between users, involve the brand manager or administrator rather than creating duplicate personal kits.
The logo is present but wrong
Check whether multiple variants have ambiguous names or whether the template leaves more than one logo placeholder available. Rename files and layouts descriptively, keep only approved versions in the generation context, and lock the logo element in a Canva Brand Template or constrain layouts with Microsoft’s strict-adherence setting when those controls are available.
The font changed after generation
In Canva, a custom font may have been replaced because it was unavailable during extraction; verify the font’s availability and embedding license. In any platform, compare the generated slide with the configured kit and inspect copied text or imported charts, which can carry their own styles. Do not fix a recurring substitution only by changing the visible text: correct the configured font or template.
A page is missing or looks broken
Canva notes that AI may skip pages that do not match the prompt or contain unsupported or complex elements. Simplify the request, separate unusually complex content into a dedicated slide, or create that page manually. In PowerPoint, check whether the requested layout exists in the uploaded template and whether strict adherence has limited Copilot to a smaller approved set.
Best Value
The colors look close but fail review
Replace descriptive color words with the approved values in the kit and template, then inspect charts and illustrations separately. A theme can control common text and shape roles while generated artwork introduces unrelated hues, so recolor or replace those assets during review.
How should teams govern brand assets for repeated AI generation?
Assign ownership for the kit, template, and approval checklist. The person who generates slides should not be the only person who decides which logo, font, or color is official.
Separate publishing from generation
Have a brand manager maintain the published kit and approve template changes. Microsoft’s strict-adherence control is explicitly managed by the Brand Kit owner or brand manager, which supports this separation. In Canva, lock elements that must remain unchanged before a template enters the kit.
Use one canonical asset source
Store approved files in the organization’s managed library or connected asset-management system where supported, and remove stale duplicates from local folders. A single source reduces the chance that an AI tool receives an old logo or a near-duplicate font.
Version templates deliberately
When a master changes, publish a clearly identified current version and retire the previous one according to your team’s process. Ask a content creator to generate a small sample after each update; this catches broken placeholders, missing fonts, or unexpected layout choices before a campaign depends on the new template.
Keep human approval in the delivery path
AI can accelerate composition, but the final owner should approve brand compliance, factual content, accessibility, and licensing. A kit improves consistency; it does not make an unreviewed presentation automatically publishable.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
What is the safest end-to-end process?
- Collect approved logo variants, exact color values, licensed font files, and the current template or slide master.
- Configure and publish a Brand Kit where the platform supports one.
- Select the kit before generation; add a Brand Template or approved PowerPoint master when layout structure matters.
- Generate a short sample with a precise content brief.
- Inspect typography, colors, logo treatment, contrast, spacing, slide order, and unsupported elements.
- Correct the kit or template when an error is systematic, then regenerate the affected slides.
- Apply manual theme, background, and font controls when working in Google Slides or another tool without a documented brand-kit workflow.
- Obtain human approval before distributing the deck.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a prompt by itself force an AI slide tool to use our exact logo and font?
No. Prompt wording can describe a preference, but exact assets come from the configured Brand Kit, template, or manual theme. If the approved file is not available to the tool, the result may use a substitute or an invented treatment.
Why did Canva create fewer pages than I requested?
Canva says its AI may skip pages that do not match the prompt or that contain unsupported or complex elements. Review the page count immediately after generation and build unusually complex content as a simpler, separate slide when necessary.
Who can turn on strict brand adherence in PowerPoint Copilot?
The documented control is managed by the Brand Kit owner or brand manager, not by the individual generating a presentation. Ask that owner to adjust the kit if approved layouts are unavailable or unwanted layouts keep appearing.
What should I do when my organization changes its logo?
Update the canonical kit, template, and managed asset library first, then publish the change and generate a small verification deck. Retire old variants so creators cannot accidentally select the former mark from a local or duplicate collection.
