Use the Oxylabs AI Studio community node in n8n for the quickest setup, or call the API through n8n’s HTTP Request node when you need payload-level control. In both cases, create an Oxylabs AI Studio API key, save it as an n8n credential, choose an AI Studio resource, and execute the workflow. The node exposes AI-Scraper, AI-Crawler, Browser Agent, and AI-Search. Scraper can return Markdown for broad page context or schema-defined JSON for structured automation; Search returns structured results.
Oxylabs currently advertises a free AI Studio key with 1000 tokens for a new account. That figure is an account allowance, not a promise that every workflow run costs the same amount. The available sources do not publish a complete per-run schedule for Scraper, Crawler, Browser Agent, and Search, so use the live account dashboard or current billing documentation to verify consumption.

n8n is the workflow layer: it starts a request, passes the target URL or search instruction to AI Studio, receives the result, and sends that result to later nodes. AI Studio performs the scraping, crawling, browser-agent task, or search. The credit balance belongs to your Oxylabs AI Studio account, while n8n stores the credential and orchestrates executions.
A workflow execution is not a reliable unit for estimating credits. A short page extraction, a crawl involving several pages, an agent that performs multiple browser actions, and a search request can have different usage. Treat the 1000-token offer as a starting allowance for a new account, then measure actual usage in your account rather than multiplying a guessed cost by the number of n8n runs.

What the integration can expose
- AI-Scraper: Extract content from a target page and choose Markdown or schema-defined JSON output.
- AI-Crawler: Use the crawler resource when the job needs site-level or multi-page discovery rather than one clearly defined page.
- Browser Agent: Select the agent resource for tasks that require an interactive browsing process. The exact controls and consumption depend on the fields shown by the current node version.
- AI-Search: Submit a search request and receive structured results suitable for filtering, ranking, or storage in later nodes.
Availability of individual fields can change as the community node and AI Studio API evolve. If a setting shown in documentation is absent from your editor, use the node’s current field list or the HTTP Request route described below.
Which n8n integration path should you choose?
Choose the community node when its fields match your job; choose HTTP Request when you need direct control over an API payload or a capability the node does not yet expose.
| Decision point | AI Studio community node | HTTP Request node |
|---|---|---|
| Setup effort | Install the node, create one credential, then configure resource-specific fields. | Build the request method, URL, authentication, headers or body, and response handling yourself. |
| Control | Limited to the parameters exposed by the installed node version. | Direct control of the request payload, which is useful when the API offers a field the node does not expose. |
| Output handling | Scraper offers Markdown or schema-defined JSON; Search returns structured results. | You receive the API response and decide how to parse, normalize, or validate it in n8n. |
| Credential management | Select the Oxylabs AI Studio credential in the node. | Configure the credential type and authentication fields required by the current API endpoint. |
| Maintenance | Node updates may add fields or change labels; review a workflow after updating it. | Your request remains explicit, but you must track API changes and update the payload yourself. |
For a first proof of concept, the community node and its Scraper resource are the clearest path because the official integration tutorial demonstrates that combination directly. Keep HTTP Request as a fallback rather than copying an endpoint from an unrelated API example.
How do you install the Oxylabs AI Studio node in n8n?
Install it from the editor, then add it to a workflow. The labels can vary slightly between n8n releases, but the sequence is the same in n8n Cloud and a maintained self-hosted installation.
- Open an existing workflow or select Create Workflow in the n8n editor.
- Click the + button to add a node.
- Search for Oxylabs AI Studio. If the node is not available in your instance, use the community-node installation control shown by your n8n edition and confirm the package before installing.
- Add the node to the canvas and open its parameters. You should see a credential selector and a resource selector.
- Save the workflow before testing so that n8n can retain the node configuration and execution history.
On a managed n8n service, installation permissions are controlled by the service and workspace settings. On a self-hosted server, the administrator may need to enable community nodes and restart n8n after installation. If the search result never appears, check those administrative controls before changing the workflow.
How do you create and protect the API credential?
The API key must be stored as an n8n credential, not pasted into a URL, prompt, Code node, or publicly shared workflow export.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- In the Oxylabs AI Studio node, open Credential to connect with.
- Choose Create new credential.
- Enter the Oxylabs AI Studio API key issued for your account.
- Save the credential, then select it in the node. The key should be masked after saving.
- Run a small test and confirm that the output is returned without exposing the secret in execution data or logs.
- Give collaborators access to the credential through n8n’s sharing controls instead of sending the key in chat or source control.
- Do not place the key in an expression, environment-independent JSON export, or a query-string parameter.
- Rotate the key in AI Studio and update the n8n credential if you suspect it has been exposed.
- When exporting a workflow, verify that the export contains a credential reference rather than the secret value.
The same saved credential can be selected by additional Oxylabs AI Studio nodes in the workspace, which avoids duplicating secrets while keeping authentication separate from workflow logic.

How do you run a first AI-Scraper workflow?
Start with one public page and the Scraper resource. This isolates authentication, output selection, and downstream mapping before you add crawling or browser actions.
- Add a trigger such as Manual Trigger so the first test runs only when you request it.
- Connect the trigger to the Oxylabs AI Studio node.
- In the node’s resource field, choose Scraper.
- Enter the target URL in the URL or target field presented by your node version.
- Choose an output format. Select Markdown when a later language-model or summarization step needs the page as a broad, readable representation. Select JSON when later nodes need named fields.
- If you select JSON, define a schema that describes the fields you actually need. Keep the schema narrow; requesting unnecessary fields makes validation and downstream mapping harder.
- Click Execute step or run the workflow, then inspect the node’s output panel.
When should the output be Markdown?
Markdown is appropriate when page structure and surrounding text matter more than a fixed record shape. It gives an LLM-friendly representation that can preserve headings, lists, and readable content for a summarizer, classifier, or answer-generation step. Because the result is broad, add a later parsing or validation step if the workflow ultimately writes to a database with fixed columns.
When should the output be schema-defined JSON?
Use JSON when you know the fields required by the next node: for example, a title, publication date, author, and a list of prices. The schema defines named fields for the extraction rather than leaving a downstream node to infer them from a block of text. Validate required fields after the Scraper node and route incomplete records to an error branch instead of silently writing null values.
How do you configure AI-Crawler, Browser Agent, and AI-Search?
Select the resource that matches the job, then configure only the controls displayed for that resource in your installed node. The credential and execution pattern remain the same as for Scraper.
AI-Crawler
Choose Crawler when the task spans pages or requires discovery beyond a single URL. Define the starting target and the extraction requirements shown by the node, then limit the scope to the pages your workflow actually needs. Send the result to a filtering or deduplication node before storage, because multi-page jobs can produce repeated navigation, boilerplate, or overlapping records.
Browser Agent
Choose Browser Agent for an interactive browsing task rather than a simple document extraction. Describe the requested outcome in the fields supplied by the node and inspect the returned object carefully; an agent result may contain status information as well as the content your next step needs. Add a timeout or failure branch in n8n so a stalled or unsuccessful browser task does not block the entire workflow indefinitely.
AI-Search
Choose Search when the input is a search request rather than a known page URL. Search returns structured results, so you can map titles, links, snippets, or other returned properties into a database, a review queue, or a second-stage fetch. Confirm the exact property names in the node output before writing expressions, because field names are determined by the current integration response.

How do you pass AI Studio output to later n8n nodes?
After execution, click the Oxylabs node and inspect the JSON view. Identify the exact property containing the Markdown, extracted object, or search result list; then map that property using n8n’s expression picker rather than typing a guessed path.
- Connect a downstream node such as Set, IF, Item Lists, a database node, or an LLM node.
- Open the destination field and select the value from the Oxylabs node in the expression browser.
- For JSON extraction, test one record and confirm that each schema field has the expected type.
- For Search, split or iterate over the returned result collection before processing each result individually.
- Add an IF branch for missing content, an empty result set, or an error status.
- Save a successful execution as a reference and rerun with a second page or query to detect assumptions tied to one response.
Keep the raw response available until the workflow is stable. A compact normalized object is useful for storage, but discarding the original response too early makes it harder to diagnose a changed page, schema mismatch, or API error.
Can you use n8n’s HTTP Request node instead?
Yes. HTTP Request is the practical fallback when the community node lacks a parameter you require, but you must use the current AI Studio API documentation for the endpoint and authentication details. Do not assume that an endpoint shown in a Web Scraper API tutorial is the AI Studio endpoint.
The Oxylabs tutorial’s Web Scraper example uses a POST request to https://realtime.oxylabs.io/v1/queries, the HTTP Request node’s Generic Credential Type with Basic Auth, and a JSON body. That example is explicitly for the Web Scraper API. Before adapting its pattern, confirm the current AI Studio endpoint, credential fields, request schema, and response format in Oxylabs’ live documentation for your account.
HTTP Request setup pattern
- Add an HTTP Request node after your trigger.
- Set the method and URL exactly as specified for the current AI Studio operation.
- Choose the credential type required by that endpoint and store the secret in n8n credentials.
- Set the request body to JSON and add only fields documented for the selected operation.
- Execute one request, inspect the status code and response body, and then map the confirmed properties downstream.
- Handle non-success responses with an error branch and preserve the response body for diagnosis.
Manual requests provide control, but they also remove the node’s guardrails. A typo in the endpoint, an outdated authentication method, or a body copied from a different Oxylabs product can look like a credit or n8n problem when it is actually an API mismatch.
How many credits does an n8n run use?
The only concrete allowance stated in the current integration material is 1000 tokens for a free API key created with a new AI Studio account. The material does not provide a complete schedule showing the cost of each Scraper, Crawler, Browser Agent, or Search execution.
| Item | What is established | What you must verify |
|---|---|---|
| New-account offer | Oxylabs advertises a free API key with 1000 tokens. | Eligibility, expiration, and any account-specific terms. |
| AI-Scraper | Available as a node resource; Markdown and schema-defined JSON are supported. | Tokens consumed for a particular page, prompt, output size, and response. |
| AI-Crawler | Available as a node resource for crawling tasks. | How scope, page count, depth, and output affect consumption. |
| Browser Agent | Available as a node resource for interactive browsing. | How actions, duration, retries, or other account rules affect consumption. |
| AI-Search | Available as a node resource and returns structured results. | Current token accounting for each search request and result set. |
Check the live AI Studio dashboard or current billing documentation before setting a production budget. Monitor usage by workflow, resource, and time period where your account permits it. A workflow count alone cannot tell you how many tokens were used.

Ways to avoid accidental consumption
- Use a Manual Trigger during development instead of a schedule that runs repeatedly.
- Test with one URL or a narrowly scoped query before enabling a crawler.
- Keep prompts and schemas focused on the fields you will use.
- Use n8n branching to stop processing when an earlier node returns no target or an invalid record.
- Set a deliberate schedule and add an execution limit or approval step before large batches.
- Review the account dashboard after a test batch and record the observed usage before forecasting a recurring job.
Should you use n8n Cloud or a self-hosted VPS?
Both deployment models can run the integration. The Oxylabs node configuration remains a workflow-level task, while the hosting choice changes who maintains n8n, credentials, updates, networking, and backups.
Recommended Free Tools
| Consideration | n8n Cloud | Self-hosted VPS |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | Use the workspace’s available community-node controls and permissions. | The administrator installs or enables the community node and may restart n8n. |
| Operations | The service provider handles the underlying platform maintenance. | You handle operating-system updates, n8n upgrades, TLS, backups, and monitoring. |
| Networking | Outbound connectivity is generally managed by the service, subject to plan and policy. | You control firewall rules, DNS, proxy settings, and outbound access. |
| Credentials | Store the API key in the workspace credential system and control sharing by project or role. | Protect the server, encryption keys, backups, logs, and administrator account. |
| Best fit | Teams that want a managed editor and minimal server administration. | Teams that need infrastructure control or already operate n8n reliably. |
Choose based on operational responsibility, not on a different credit price. The AI Studio account and its token usage remain separate from whether n8n runs in the cloud or on your own server.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you check when the node fails?
Most failures fall into credential, installation, input, response, or deployment categories. Check the execution details before changing several settings at once.
The node does not appear in search
- Confirm that the community node is installed in the same n8n instance and workspace where you are editing.
- Ask the n8n administrator whether community nodes are disabled.
- Restart a self-hosted instance if the installation procedure requires it, then reload the editor.
- Verify the node package version and review its release notes if fields differ from a tutorial.
Authentication fails
- Reopen the credential and confirm that the complete AI Studio API key was saved.
- Make sure the node is using that credential rather than an empty or similarly named credential.
- Do not paste the key into a normal parameter field to bypass the credential selector.
- If the key was exposed, revoke or rotate it in AI Studio and update n8n.
The request succeeds but the expected field is missing
- Inspect the raw node output and copy the property path from the actual response.
- For JSON extraction, compare the response with the schema and check required-field names and types.
- For Search, iterate over the returned collection instead of treating the whole response as one record.
- For Markdown, add a parser or structured extraction step before writing to fixed database columns.
The HTTP Request example returns an error
Check whether you used a Web Scraper API endpoint or body with an AI Studio request. The endpoint https://realtime.oxylabs.io/v1/queries is documented in the supplied tutorial as a Web Scraper API example; it is not evidence that the same URL and payload are valid for AI Studio. Confirm the current AI Studio route, authentication scheme, and JSON schema before troubleshooting n8n expressions.
Runs are slow or unexpectedly expensive
- Reduce the target scope and test one item manually.
- Check whether a schedule, retry policy, or loop is executing the node more often than intended.
- Inspect the AI Studio usage dashboard instead of estimating consumption from n8n execution count.
- Separate development and production credentials or workflows when you need clearer usage attribution.
What is a reliable production workflow pattern?
A small, observable workflow is easier to budget and recover than one large chain. The following pattern works for Scraper and can be adapted to Search, Crawler, or Browser Agent.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Trigger: Receive one URL or search request from a manual, webhook, or schedule trigger.
- Validate: Use an IF or validation node to reject an empty, malformed, or out-of-scope input.
- AI Studio: Call the selected resource with the saved credential and the narrowest useful instruction.
- Inspect: Check status and required output fields before continuing.
- Normalize: Convert Markdown or structured results into the shape required by your destination.
- Store or publish: Write the normalized record to your database, spreadsheet, queue, or application.
- Observe: Record the source, execution time, resource, success state, and any account usage information available to you.
- Recover: Route failures to a notification or retry workflow without automatically repeating an expensive operation indefinitely.
For a crawler or browser-agent workflow, add explicit limits and a review step before enabling a broad schedule. For Search, deduplicate result links before sending them to a second extraction pass. These controls protect both data quality and the token balance.
What should you decide before enabling a schedule?
Answer the operational questions below before moving beyond a manual test:
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.

- Which AI Studio resource is necessary: one-page Scraper, multi-page Crawler, Browser Agent, or Search?
- Does the next node need Markdown context or schema-defined JSON?
- Which fields are mandatory, and what happens when a page does not contain them?
- How will you detect duplicate URLs or repeated search results?
- Where will failed executions be reported, and who can rotate the credential?
- What dashboard or billing view will you use to measure actual token consumption?
- Is the n8n instance patched, backed up, and reachable from the AI Studio API?
Once those answers are documented, enable the schedule with a small batch, inspect the resulting usage and data, and increase scope gradually. This approach avoids treating the introductory allowance as an unlimited pool or assuming that every resource has the same cost.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can one Oxylabs AI Studio credential be shared by several n8n workflows?
Yes. Save the key once in n8n’s credential store and select that credential in each authorized Oxylabs AI Studio node. Control which users and projects can use it through n8n’s credential-sharing permissions, and rotate the key centrally if it changes.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Does a failed n8n execution always refund the tokens it used?
Do not assume that it does. Token accounting for failed, retried, or partially completed operations is not established in the available integration material, so check the usage view and the current account billing terms after a test failure.
How should I design a JSON schema for AI-Scraper?
Define only the fields the downstream workflow needs, give each field a clear name and expected type, and mark the fields that must be present for a record to be accepted. Add validation after the node so an absent value becomes an explicit failure or review item rather than an unnoticed empty field.
Can n8n process AI-Search results one at a time?
Yes. Inspect the returned collection, then use an item-splitting or loop pattern to send each result to later nodes. Keep the original result properties until you have deduplicated and validated the links you intend to process.
What is the safest way to test a new integration?
Use a Manual Trigger, one target URL or a narrowly scoped search, and a non-production destination. Inspect the raw response and account usage before adding schedules, loops, retries, or broad crawler scope.
