Independent testing found its air frying usable but inconsistent, while temperature control was weak enough to complicate baking and roasting. The 31350G is a countertop toaster oven with five cooking functions: air fry, bake, convection bake, broil and toast. A temperature dial covers 150°F to 450°F, and a 30-minute timer can be switched to a stay-on setting for longer cooking. The controls are manual dials rather than a digital program menu, so operation is straightforward but less automated than on newer countertop ovens.
Hamilton Beach lists a stainless-steel exterior and five supplied accessories: a deluxe air-fry basket, bake pan, broil rack, oven rack and slide-out crumb tray. The manufacturer’s stated exterior dimensions are 9 inches high, 18 inches wide and 14 inches deep. RTINGS measured a footprint of approximately 17.7 by 13.6 by 9.3 inches, so allow room around the unit according to the instructions for your installation.

How much can the 31350G hold?
It is a small oven by countertop-appliance standards. Hamilton Beach says the cavity accommodates a 5-pound chicken, a 12-inch pizza, six slices of toast or a 9-by-11-inch baking pan. RTINGS likewise fit a 12-inch pizza and six slices of bread, but not a 9-by-13-inch pan. That distinction matters if you routinely cook family-size casseroles or sheet-pan meals.

Capacity in practical terms
- Toast: Six slices fit, and RTINGS found them evenly browned in its test.
- Pizza: A 12-inch pizza fits according to both the manufacturer and RTINGS.
- Chicken: Hamilton Beach rates the oven for a 5-pound chicken; shape and pan clearance can still affect the usable space.
- Bakeware: A 9-by-11-inch pan is the manufacturer’s stated maximum, while a standard 9-by-13-inch pan does not fit.
- Footprint: At roughly 18 inches wide and 14 inches deep, it is compact enough for many counters but needs more width than a narrow pop-up toaster.
The small chamber helps explain the fast preheat, but it also limits how many portions you can cook at once. Measure your preferred pans and the counter location before buying rather than relying on the product name’s “toaster oven” label.
How well does the 31350G toast?
Toasting is the appliance’s strongest tested task. RTINGS reported that it toasted six slices evenly and quickly. If your main goal is replacing a pop-up toaster while gaining an oven for occasional snacks and reheating, this model’s performance is persuasive.
Even browning does not mean every slice will match your personal preference. The dial-based controls provide less repeatability than a digital timer with stored programs, and bread thickness, starting temperature and rack position can change results. Use the first cycle to establish the dial setting for your bread, then make small adjustments rather than assuming the same setting works for every loaf.
Is the Hamilton Beach 31350G a good air fryer?
It can air-fry snacks, but the results are less consistent than the best dedicated air fryers. In RTINGS’ fry test, 58.1% of pieces were classified as crispy, 12.9% as overcooked and 29.0% as undercooked. Those percentages describe that specific test method and food load; they are not a guarantee for every frozen food or batch.

What the test means in a kitchen
The wide spread between crisp, overcooked and undercooked pieces indicates uneven heat or airflow across the basket. Smaller batches, a single layer and turning food partway through may improve uniformity, but those are operating techniques rather than independently measured corrections. Expect to check food before the nominal end time and remove pieces that brown early.
Hamilton Beach makes two speed statements that should be read as manufacturer claims, not independent results. It says optimized airflow and convection provide a “47% faster” air-frying speed than the Black & Decker TO3215SS Crisp N Bake Convection Air Fry Oven when air-frying 2 pounds of frozen fries. It also says one pound of frozen crinkle-cut fries can cook in under 12 minutes. The product page gives the comparison conditions; neither statement establishes that every food cooks 47% faster or in under 12 minutes in your kitchen.
How stable is the cooking temperature?
Temperature stability is the 31350G’s principal weakness. RTINGS measured an average variation of 37.0°F from the selected setpoint and a 38.1% temperature overshoot in its testing. The review warns that this fluctuation can cause food to brown or burn before the center is finished, particularly during baking and roasting.
For toast and many frozen snacks, brief swings may not matter. Temperature-sensitive recipes—cakes, custards, delicate pastries or long roasts—are less forgiving. If you use the oven for those foods, watch the first attempt closely and verify doneness with the recipe’s visual or internal-temperature cues rather than relying on the dial alone.
How fast does it preheat?
RTINGS measured a 350°F preheat time of 1 minute 53 seconds. That is a notable convenience for a compact oven and reduces the waiting time for toast, reheating and small frozen foods. Fast preheating does not offset the temperature overshoot: reaching the target quickly and holding it accurately are separate performance characteristics.
Hamilton Beach’s temperature range begins at 150°F and ends at 450°F. The lower end supports gentle warming, while 450°F covers common roasting and pizza settings, but the measured fluctuation means you should not treat every dial position as a tightly controlled laboratory temperature.

What functions and controls does it have?
A function selector chooses air fry, bake, convection bake, broil or toast. A temperature dial sets 150°F–450°F, and a timer dial runs for up to 30 minutes. The stay-on position allows operation beyond the timed cycle, which is useful for longer recipes but requires you to monitor the cooking and turn the oven off manually.
Choosing a mode
- Toast: Use for sliced bread and similar items; the test results were strongest in this mode.
- Air fry: Use the supplied mesh basket for fries, nuggets and other foods that benefit from circulating hot air. Expect to inspect and turn food because the test showed mixed doneness.
- Bake: Appropriate for small pans that fit the cavity. Temperature variation makes recipe timing less predictable.
- Convection bake: Adds fan-assisted circulation for suitable recipes, but it does not remove the oven’s measured temperature swings.
- Broil: Positions food near the upper heating element for browning; keep a close eye on rapid surface color changes.

How should you use the 31350G for the best results?
The controls are simple, but the oven’s temperature behavior rewards a deliberate routine. Use this sequence when trying a new recipe or food.
- Confirm the load size. Check that the pan, pizza or basket fits without touching the walls or heating elements. A 9-by-13-inch pan is too large for this cavity.
- Select the cooking mode first. Choose toast, air fry, bake, convection bake or broil before setting the temperature.
- Set the temperature and preheat. The oven reached 350°F in 1 minute 53 seconds in RTINGS’ test, but allow the appliance to complete its own preheat cycle for repeatable cooking.
- Arrange food in a single, practical layer. Crowding can restrict airflow in the air-fry basket and make the already variable doneness less uniform.
- Check early. Because RTINGS recorded a 37.0°F average setpoint variation and 38.1% overshoot, begin checking before the recipe’s stated finish time.
- Rotate or turn when appropriate. This can help expose food to a different part of the airflow pattern, especially for fries and other small pieces.
- Use an independent doneness cue. Judge toast by color, baked goods by structure and roasted meats by internal temperature rather than assuming the dial is exact.
- Use stay-on only when you can monitor it. The setting bypasses the 30-minute cutoff; it is not an automatic shutoff timer.
These practices cannot eliminate the oven’s measured variation, but they make its compact size and manual controls easier to manage.
Who should buy this toaster oven?
It suits toast-and-snack households
If you want six-slice toast, quick preheating and a way to heat frozen snacks without turning on a full-size oven, the 31350G is a logical fit. Its strongest independent result is even, fast toasting, and its 12-inch pizza capacity covers common individual or small-family meals.
It suits small-counter kitchens
The cavity is compact, and the five modes replace several single-purpose appliances. Measure the roughly 18-inch width and 14-inch depth first; the oven is small inside but not tiny on the counter.

It is less suitable for precision bakers
